Orsted may be the only who can beat Rudeus without breaking a sweat, especially in a solo when Rudy can’t exactly heal himself when Orsted punctured his lungs since Rudeus must chant for healing magic.
It makes sense. If most kings and nobles in Mushoku Tensei cant control or subjugate the 7 Great Powers for their own political or military purposes, they should be very paranoid and scaried of them becoming full rogue.

Well the dynamic of Orsted, Rudeus and Ariel is very wonky and they all see each other in a very incorrect way. Rudeus is scared of orsted but Orsted just wants to please Rudeus and wants him as a friend. Rudeus has a fear Ariel could betray them, but Ariel is dead scared they may pull their support of her and wants to marry one of her kids to Rudy's to fully cement her line to the dragon gods org as a guarantee and will do anything to support them.

The scariest thing about Rudeus' connections is how they make you forget the man created a spell to function as a nuclear bomb. AND a giant AOE Absolute 0 spell.

His swordsmanship is better then the average adventurer but it mainly helps him deal with close combat foes when assisted with his demon eye and experience.
For Zanoba, he is a prince from a small nation compared to Asura. The influence Zanoba have is little but his power as a Miko/Blessed Child is a desired asset. Rinia and Pursena are indeed Beastkin Princesses which serves as helping hands in the future Cliff is the grandson of the Millis Pope. He is also gets an important position in the future Elinalise is an S-Rank Adventurer. Nuff said Nanahoshi has ties to Orsted and Perugius. One of which is too important in the Asuran legends. So yeah. Rudy from his connections alone is scary enough as the series goes by.

Zanoba may be a prince from a small nation, but that nation is in the sphere of influence of the Dragonking Kingdom, which can compete with the Kingdom of Asura regionally. It's a backdoor line of communication.

It doesn't matter if they have strong connections to the nobility/royalty of a particular nation as they are to some degree deified by the general public and without some damning evidence against them could insight revolutions very easily. So most Nobles and Royals would want strong connections with such individuals to keep up the favor or fear of the populace to secure their positions.
Let's just put into perspective rudeus's mana capacity alone. In vol 15 he makes a Gatlingun for his stone cannons which according to badigadi has enough power to compare to a king or emperor tier spell. Since same tier spells can cost upto 20 times in the basic tier, it's not unreasonable. Rudeus claims he can fire thousands of them a day. Roxy has slightly less mana than sylphy and her aptitude for water makes her barely able to cast 1 king tier spell a day. So rudeus has thousands of times more mana than basically all the strongest mages in the world expect beings like orsted and perugius. And even compared to them it's at least a few dozen to hundreds of times more mana. If his mana capacity was inherited by one of sylphy or Roxy's child then they might have surpassed even laplace which rudy couldn't because of human output limitations
No, i think rudy have more mana than orsted. In anime, manga and novel Orsted said that Rudy's mana is equal or surpassed Laplace in mana capacity. And Laplace(Technique God) have more mana that Orsted(he was still a child that time). I think at the current time Rudy is the third or second person who have large mana pool in between Hitogami and Laplace
Rudy is weaker than orsted because rudy cannot perform touki..... that is why his swordmanship is only at intermediate or advance because he cannot use touki like other swordman. And when against magic orsted can use god class while rudy only in emperor class.... though his nuclear explosion magic, orsted states that it can be considered as god class magic.

been loving the anime so far but its really light on the fights. That isn't a bad thing but the few fights we do get Rudeus isn't even a deciding factor many times. I just want to see more of him go wild with magic.
First this is not an Shounen anime, even though it's Isekai it's not a common Shounen Isekai that you used to watch. Mushoku Tensei more like a Drama anime with Isekai Concept when usually Isekai anime is a Shounen anime with Isekai Concept. If you want the Shounen part of the show wait until the plot twist came in S3. All the thing they build since season 1 will be exploding in S3. I hope you rewatch the S1 and S2 catch every detail and understanding everything that they told you before the S3 cameout. Remember all the stuff that S1 and S2 give it to you. That's really important to blew your mind. That you didn't expect, all that small detail that you will not care will lead you to something big in S3. All the reason all this happen. Just wait
in the novel its more fight heavy and the fights are described in more detail. the dude saying its a drama anime is right, its exactly what i thought when the show came out, but it has to do alot more with the studio's choice of what to include then the novel. Also in the novel he only really uses rock bullet and quagmire at this point, so the fights might get repetitive if they included every one in the show

Ariel doesn't know better, but Rudeus is nothing like any other noble when it comes to caring about social standing (he doesn't unless he's forced to, and since he has good connections already and is strong AF, this rarely happens), much less like his maternal grandmother (oh, what a pain this old lady was). The moment Ariel and Luke crossed paths with Rudeus in good terms, they were already on his favour forever He's a simple man... If you don't include his sexual fetishes and complexes; But Ariel is none to talk about that.
to be fair for ariel she is a princess that experience assassination's attempt lot because of power struggle, is to the point that she could only relaxed something she can full control over it, that just may take as anime watcher( i read the manga but only little bit)

He beated Badigadi with one shot and he claimed that his mana was as big as Laplace's. Entire nations moved their armies trying to stop Badigadi before he reached the academy according to the LN, but they were never able to catch him (because he is extremely fast apparently). A mage strong as rudeus can destroy a city small city with a single spell. He can flood them, he can cause landslides or hurricanes. He is beyond a natural desaster level.
I mean he was about to wipe demon continent just because rujierd identity was revealed using masive clouds and causing probably flood and extreme winds... We have seen that in anime

This touki only let's attacks with pure intent to damage the wearer and not everyone can bypass this, same goes for Orsted and you can count on one hand the amount of people that have actually damaged Orsted

Rudeus is strong enough to go toe to toe with the demon lord (stated by badigadi himself) but rudeus has a nerf (unable to use battle aura) which makes him weak so he relays on his other tricks.

Nah it's not that, rudy has shown to be able to run out of mana, after throwing a nuke or two but it ain't infinite. And all of that within the span of probably 4 minutes, if he poured ALL of his mana into one single spell he could empty his entire pool. Because he controls how much mana he puts into each spell, but he doesn't follow already set spells, that's the difference
Due to her status as princess her beauty and her charm and her moderatly big pockets she rarely had trouble convincing people to do as she wants. Thing is she is a lot more transparent than she thinks she is. When she aproaches some one even remotly smart thats not starstruck they see her intencions clear as day. Unlike Rudeus she dosn't build enough raport and is not looking for genuine friendships so her political BS dosn't quite work with the people arrownd Rudeus. Zanoba is not a fool and wanted nothing to do with Asuran politics, not even for all the figures in Asura. He rejected every aporach. Cliff case is very similar the onlly reason he is sharia is becouse he escape a political squable in Millis he is not about to get involved in another one. Elinalise has absolutly no reason to fight for Ariel, what cud she even offer to someone like Elinalise? Lynia nad Pursena are steat toughs so they onlly respect strength and Ariel started with the wrong foot with them. Nanahoshy wants nothing to do with this world so she rejected every single one of Ariel's aproaches. Ariel was to scared to even talk to Badigadi, if he suddenly became hostile she woud be powerless to stop him. She cud onlly tremble in fear in the face of his power. Beside support from a demon king may not grant her popularity in Asura. And the Scariest studant of them all Rudeus Grayrat himself. He avoided her for a year and onlly deals with her when necesary so its obvius he has no interest in Asuran politics. He has deep pockets so its hard to brive him. Her stronguest fighter is in love with him so if presured to choose a side she likely will choose Rudy. Rudeus has stronger allies to and his magic alone cud whipe anything magic academy Ariel cud muster. He is to strong, she can't control him that makes him dangerous in her eyes. Granted, now that he married Sylphy and offer her his support he is unlikely to fight Ariel but he is not true beliver, when it comes to actual fighting she has no confidence he will ansure her call. Beside she dosn't want him to. She wants Sylphie to be happy and dying with her in a battle for the throne is not what she wants for Sylphie, she knows her chances of wining are slim its practicly a suicide.

One of the biggest traits in the story that becomes even more notorious as the story continues is how much of a monster Rudeus is, yet he doesn't realize it and is mostly very humble about it, which keeps the readers low-guarded at times; he lacks confidence a lot of time and tries to avoid violence whenever he can, but Rudeus is an absolute freak of nature. The author literally had to nerf him by not giving him a Toki, if not he would had been stupidly broken.
I think it's important to say that Rudeus power isn't really power per say He is in fact truly strong and a great mage, but his best quality in combat is his mana reserve, he has tremendous amount of Mana which let's him use many high tier magic attacks without exhausting himself, but the power of the attacks themselves are nothing out of this world as some of other great world powers If Rudeus could output as much Mana as he wished in his attacks he would actually become on the level of Laplace in terms of magic
The problem is that, he's still a human and over exhausting himself could burn his body. Even Badi and the rest says he can be equal to Demon Lord or could go higher. Now imagine if Rudeus has the body Endurance of Goku or Saitama. 😂

Her fear is understandable tho. Here's a noble man who claim he doesn't want to be in power and yet his friends are all very powerful people, literal world shakers too. He even married Sylphy, a commoner and never want to take a wife from noble line. It's like he can just take over power in one single move. I bet she's still sweating even when she's already a queen.
Honestly, Mushoku Tensei might be my favourite Japanese IP ever. If I were to write a story, this is like EXACTLY how I would write it. It's a little scary but at the same time amazing that there is someone out there who is so similar to me.

those last two points are basically in his obituary, it's a bit depressing at the end of the series when he is remember as an oddity and hanger on of multiple famous people with his ideas, advice and support making each of those people great being mostly overlooked. His own power is also extremely undervalued... I think it was in part because, while he is on the ranking stone it's as a name that is connected to his greatest invention which is what elevates him to the level of the strongest individuals.
On the otherhand while history might see him that way the people that actually knew him wouldn't think that way and honestly that's probably how he wanted it
Not only his magical power, record, and friend list, but also his ability to manipulate mana. Be it disturbing the casting of others, using his magic in unique ways, or the chantless casting he's had since he was a kid.
If only Rudeus could use Touki he would be a monster. The fact that he can't reinforce his body is a huge nerf, considering that he has so much mana, Laplace got around it by being born an already physically strong race and some dangerous tricks (but he's immortal so it didnt matter).
I'm scared of the direction the show is going, I hate that they wrote Rudeus to go help the party to save his mother. Frankly I think because of it Sylphie is either going to die in childbirth while he's gone, the school will be attacked and everyone (or at the very least Sylphie, his child and his sisters) will die. I wanted nothing more than for them to have a happy life, I know a show needs drama to he interesting but I think they could accomplish it without killing off or abandoning sylphie and the baby.
There's a very strong reason Rudeus openly stated he has zero interest in political schemes; he knows that with his family name and prowess as a mage and fame as an adventurer that his words and action could carry genuine weight. This is why Ariel was trying really hard to think of a way to get him on her side after first seeing his name come up on the potential candidates for special class students, and one of the few reasons she tried to get Sylphiette to be with him. Of course, she also wanted Sylphie to be happy as she considers her a true friend who has saved her life more than once, but she knew an opportunity when she saw one, which is why the moment Rudeus approached them with a favor owed for aiding in curing his ED, she asked to be able to use his influence for her benefit, which he readily agreed because his policies would be different with Ariel's ties to Sylphie, his soon bride-to-be at the time.

Don't forget Rudeus EASILY beat her best bodyguard without a sweat. Now, that is what it is. He is incredibly powerful in magic, and is literally the worst thing a mage can come up against since he can even stop their magic. But he also proceeded to curb stomp her knight in a freaking swordfight where he didn't even use any magic at all...And he isn't even especially good at sword fighting...
What most people dont understand is that getting above saint class is extremely rare, most people nevee get above advanced Its not that Luke is particularly bad, its the fact thar Rudeus and his harem are all absurdly powerful...

Yeah literal power, reputation, connections. Only thing that could make Rudeus more danger now would be a bigger power boost, or becoming filthy rich. Or the plot buff of an isekai MC going full fury.
except Rudy at where the anime is at least would lose to any strong melee fighter since he can't use Battle Aura. later on, not necessarily the case, but as a novel reader, I know exactly how strong he is. and his connections, yes you are right about those but the people who only watch the anime don't know that he's not as invincible as we're shown.
And it all thx to his power, at least thats what i think lol. His power + desire to change and be a better person overall, probably have like snowball effect on people, he just keep attracting them one by one as he progress towards his better self.

He also knows a lot more about physics and science than most others. For example, one of his most damaging attacks isn’t a giant fireball, but instead is a foot or so long drill that he makes as dense and heavy as possible, spins it, and shoots it out like a giant bullet. Most mages would just go with the classic overwhelming fireball or lightning for damage, but Rudy knows physics well enough to know that such a combination can be even more deadly than a giant fireball against a single enemy. Huh… I guess we can add Rudy being resourceful to the list, since he does use his head a lot, such as when he sniffed a warrior woman’s panties he got his hands on to throw her off mentally. Though he probably did enjoy it at least a little as a bonus. 😂
I remember a point of view from Ariel where she once said Rudeus won over all the influential people at the school she failed to persuade for what was it 3 years? Within a few months... honestly Rudy's power to win hearts is as scary if not more so than his fighting power!
I don't like how the princess is using Sylphie's connections with Rudeus to tame Rudeus slowly to her side because Rudeus "loves" Sylphie. But then again, we don't know much about her yet and her motives. Even still, she must offer something equivalent or near it for Rudeus's powers and godly connections. (Never realized this, thanks btw. Having the demon lord, demon queen, and basically every strong noble mortals must be crazy)

Well the dynamic of Orsted, Rudeus and Ariel is very wonky and they all see each other in a very incorrect way. Rudeus is scared of orsted but Orsted just wants to please Rudeus and wants him as a friend. Rudeus has a fear Ariel could betray them, but Ariel is dead scared they may pull their support of her and wants to marry one of her kids to Rudy's to fully cement her line to the dragon gods org as a guarantee and will do anything to support them.

So most Nobles and Royals would want strong connections with such individuals to keep up the favor or fear of the populace to secure their positions.

Let's just put into perspective rudeus's mana capacity alone. In vol 15 he makes a Gatlingun for his stone cannons which according to badigadi has enough power to compare to a king or emperor tier spell. Since same tier spells can cost upto 20 times in the basic tier, it's not unreasonable. Rudeus claims he can fire thousands of them a day. Roxy has slightly less mana than sylphy and her aptitude for water makes her barely able to cast 1 king tier spell a day. So rudeus has thousands of times more mana than basically all the strongest mages in the world expect beings like orsted and perugius. And even compared to them it's at least a few dozen to hundreds of times more mana. If his mana capacity was inherited by one of sylphy or Roxy's child then they might have surpassed even laplace which rudy couldn't because of human output limitations

No, i think rudy have more mana than orsted. In anime, manga and novel Orsted said that Rudy's mana is equal or surpassed Laplace in mana capacity. And Laplace(Technique God) have more mana that Orsted(he was still a child that time). I think at the current time Rudy is the third or second person who have large mana pool in between Hitogami and Laplace
Rudy is weaker than orsted because rudy cannot perform touki..... that is why his swordmanship is only at intermediate or advance because he cannot use touki like other swordman. in the novel its more fight heavy and the fights are described in more detail. the dude saying its a drama anime is right, its exactly what i thought when the show came out, but it has to do alot more with the studio's choice of what to include then the novel. Also in the novel he only really uses rock bullet and quagmire at this point, so the fights might get repetitive if they included every one in the show

One of the biggest traits in the story that becomes even more notorious as the story continues is how much of a monster Rudeus is, yet he doesn't realize it and is mostly very humble about it, which keeps the readers low-guarded at times; he lacks confidence a lot of time and tries to avoid violence whenever he can, but Rudeus is an absolute freak of nature.
The author literally had to nerf him by not giving him a Toki, if not he would had been stupidly broken.
I think it's important to say that Rudeus power isn't really power per say
He is in fact truly strong and a great mage, but his best quality in combat is his mana reserve, he has tremendous amount of Mana which let's him use many high tier magic attacks without exhausting himself, but the power of the attacks themselves are nothing out of this world as some of other great world powers
If Rudeus could output as much Mana as he wished in his attacks he would actually become on the level of Laplace in terms of magic
The problem is that, he's still a human and over exhausting himself could burn his body. Even Badi and the rest says he can be equal to Demon Lord or could go higher. Now imagine if Rudeus has the body Endurance of Goku or Saitama. 😂
If he could use touki and actually trained in the sword he would literally be an actual monster.

those last two points are basically in his obituary, it's a bit depressing at the end of the series when he is remember as an oddity and hanger on of multiple famous people with his ideas, advice and support making each of those people great being mostly overlooked. His own power is also extremely undervalued... I think it was in part because, while he is on the ranking stone it's as a name that is connected to his greatest invention which is what elevates him to the level of the strongest individuals.
On the otherhand while history might see him that way the people that actually knew him wouldn't think that way and honestly that's probably how he wanted it

If only Rudeus could use Touki he would be a monster. The fact that he can't reinforce his body is a huge nerf, considering that he has so much mana, Laplace got around it by being born an already physically strong race and some dangerous tricks (but he's immortal so it didnt matter).

I'm scared of the direction the show is going, I hate that they wrote Rudeus to go help the party to save his mother. Frankly I think because of it Sylphie is either going to die in childbirth while he's gone, the school will be attacked and everyone (or at the very least Sylphie, his child and his sisters) will die. I wanted nothing more than for them to have a happy life, I know a show needs drama to he interesting but I think they could accomplish it without killing off or abandoning sylphie and the baby.

There's a very strong reason Rudeus openly stated he has zero interest in political schemes; he knows that with his family name and prowess as a mage and fame as an adventurer that his words and action could carry genuine weight. This is why Ariel was trying really hard to think of a way to get him on her side after first seeing his name come up on the potential candidates for special class students, and one of the few reasons she tried to get Sylphiette to be with him.
Of course, she also wanted Sylphie to be happy as she considers her a true friend who has saved her life more than once, but she knew an opportunity when she saw one, which is why the moment Rudeus approached them with a favor owed for aiding in curing his ED, she asked to be able to use his influence for her benefit, which he readily agreed because his policies would be different with Ariel's ties to Sylphie, his soon bride-to-be at the time.

Don't forget Rudeus EASILY beat her best bodyguard without a sweat. Now, that is what it is. He is incredibly powerful in magic, and is literally the worst thing a mage can come up against since he can even stop their magic.
But he also proceeded to curb stomp her knight in a freaking swordfight where he didn't even use any magic at all...And he isn't even especially good at sword fighting...

He also knows a lot more about physics and science than most others. For example, one of his most damaging attacks isn’t a giant fireball, but instead is a foot or so long drill that he makes as dense and heavy as possible, spins it, and shoots it out like a giant bullet.
Most mages would just go with the classic overwhelming fireball or lightning for damage, but Rudy knows physics well enough to know that such a combination can be even more deadly than a giant fireball against a single enemy.

Just getting warmed up." but it has been the closest he has gotten to death in the entirety of history.
Couple that with the fact that you can literally ask a bum from any part of the globe about him and they'd know him, as in, not even Gods of that realm have that kind of reach... And lets not forget that he has an arsenal of both geniuses and city-leveling-monsters at his beck-and-call is terrifying.
