Way to go…get in there ! I’m looking at replacing my Corbeau Baja XP seats that are just too deep and are hard for my wife and to get in and out of (getting old) and the PRP Enduros are my seat of choice. PRP just makes a superior product!
I think you could have put screws in the drivers side of the original top then pushed the pass side in where you wanted it and used a sharpie it on the bottom side along the panel. Then cut it and drill some new holes for that side.
1:33 - That right there sums driving in the sand up just wonderfully lol. You find it in obscure places even after cleaning and cleaning and cleaning ❤
Retired now but designed many sheet metal clips & brackets for installing various components in aircraft. Still trying to figure out why anyone would tell you your idea wouldn't work. With stuck bolts sometimes working them back and forth can help break them loose. In any event great job all around!
Why not re-fashion the piece you removed. Basically cutting down the side toward the passenger seat and re-shaping it to fit the new shape. I wish I was there to help. I spend 31 yrs as a maintenance man and having to fabricate things a lot.
@@MischiefMakerTV The original top was already 90% there already bent to the right angles so you could have saved yourself a lot of work and eliminated the welding by cutting the original piece plus it would have looked about as good as it was before. All you had to do was lay it centered on top with the sides pulled in and mark it from underneath along the outside of the base then cut off the lines so it didn't overhang. You may have also needed to shorten the front and back sections by 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch but then again perhaps not. I'm lazy and cheap what else can I say. Been fabricating for 60 years now. Best!
Good job Holly. The only way to learn is to do. I look back at some of my first projects and I will say they looked ruffer than that. Keep up the good work.
Holly as I explained to wife …”nothing is impossible it just takes a little longer sometimes the really big project just run out of the longer” so don’t sweat the little stuff just keep plugging away and keep your smile !
Your new seats really Jazz up Mischief Maker. The temporary console seems to fit well for now and we will follow along as you fashion a new one later. Thanks for sharing the status of your "babies" as they grow even more capable.
For safety glasses I suggest ones that kinda wrap around to protect the sides of the peepers or the full face shield especially when using the death wheel.
Good idea and you got it done and it looks good too. I would have done it differently. I would have measured between the side panels at the back and the front and at each bolt hole then flipped the cover over and measured is then take the difference and cut that out of the middle and welded ithe two pieces together.
Just a thought about new center console...... maybe paint the top gray to match seats or maybe paint it all gray & use mischief maker blue pin striping to reverse match the seats (maybe a cup holder or two looks like you have enough clearance on underside of top)(cup holder insert can be contrasting matching color) Just an old guy thought But hey what do I no after all its your baby do as you like just another option Be well me lady
4:14 exactly why I'm still watching. Even tho the proper way to do it would be to CAD copy the original top, and then fit it to the console and cut to fit.
Many, many of us have welded a nut onto a broken bolt 3, 4, 5, or even 6 times to get it out. If you get it the first time, that bolt wasn't really stuck in there at all.
With both seats sitting in place hold your side pieces together like you need them and tape them in place then remove both seats and place the top piece back on and mark it on the bottom side and cut off what you don't need then just drill new screw holes, no bending or painting required.
Only Braum offered to custom fit and had me send pics of a cut up meter sticks at 8 points. They reach the end of sliders and full recline. I was lucky , I think . I did have to put the levers inbetween the seats though. If not for that they would not fit.
Our best guess is it was an electrical issue from construction in our business park. All we had to do was factory reset the machines. Ian walked me through the process when he came to visit earlier this month and all is good now. It was so weird that everything went down at the same time. Had to have some common denominator and now I know to unplug everything at the end of the day
Nothing at all. I did consider having them recovered by PRP because they were looking a little tired (they have open to the elements for the past 5 years), but I needed to get seats for the Liberty anyway, so this move kills 2 birds with 1 stone 😊
Any reason it has to be so tall? Cutting X out of the height, folding over tabs with hand folders (or a break if your lucky) re drilling mount holes would of solved alot of your issues. Unless you use it as an armrest?
Hollie do yourself a favor, learn how to braze acetylene and oxygen, with a #4 tip and a flux coated brass rod. it is easy to use on thin metals and if done correct is as strong as arc welding and tig welding and less heat, so it is less likely to blow through the thin stuff
If it is a temporary fix why did you not just cut and shut the original panel as it is already bent near to what you need so just narrow it and re-drill tje fixing holes job done one hour later, as a metal fabricator in the racing world that is the quick and dirty way.
🐔 🥧 🥐 🧀 . I think right idea too narrow it in like that. (Me) Shrink it down to where it's real low.Clean up all those moving parts. So it's real fancy and put a piece of plastic glass over it so you can see it. Through all your videos, I always assumed within side That box next to you was moving parts. I was taken taken back to See, there's a lot of open space there for activities..😮
Love this Hollie, the seats look so good!
Worked just fine, nice work
MM is awesome

The blue team wins again 💙. They are always telling me it won't work, .... but we know better. 😂 Great video 👍

This solution is only temporary. I would like to make an entirely new center console when I get back.
This is what I would attempt before spending money on more material.

Love that outlook! 😀🤙🏻
great as always great content very entertaining
Hats off for having a go!

Nice! Work, work, work. Also, you're doing great!
Whatever it takes to make Walter comfortable...AND I knew that idea would work because I had the same idea
Hollie, that works perfectly. --- You can make it "Pretty" after you get back. --
Definitely update us on how the containment feels in this seats! I’m considering comp elites for my jk because I like that tight hugged feel lol
You can make anything work. Not trying means it won’t work. You go and get it done.
Like people tell Rory at trailMater, you can not get that truck in and out of that hole, and then he does it , thumbs up
If you use a cardboard template you should be able to modify the plate you have already
Great job, Holly!
Well done young lady keep up the good work love your videos

I have been working with metal all my life, go for it. It will work
Good idea and you got it done and it looks good too.

When welding sheet metal, it's fine to do tacks accross to keep fro burning through
I wanna see the onX build!!!!
Nice job!

I love that idea. Will definitely take my time and make something pretty when I get back and don’t have a deadline to work against.
Is that little notch you cut in the front slanted piece high enough for you to fully engage the emergency brake?
I was screaming at my iPad saying “WAIT Holly!
You need to be able to pull up on the E-brake!!! “
Perfect IS GOOD ENOUGH!
4:14 exactly why I'm still watching. Even tho the proper way to do it would be to CAD copy the original top, and then fit it to the console and cut to fit.
why not just cut the painted original piece to fit?

Watch the sharp edges
You did great.

✌️
You can weld them together so you don't have pieces
All one can do is try.. i believe that 50 % is still a passing grade.. so aff Arsed is better then not trying at all!
Question, Why do you need the rear of consol up so high?🦅
Using "S" hooks from wire tend to twist less, especially if you use two. Started watching you when watching Matt, doing great!
What wheel do you use to grind down/polish the welds?
How did the emergency brake work with the new panel?
Only Braum offered to custom fit and had me send pics of a cut up meter sticks at 8 points. They reach the end of sliders and full recline. I was lucky , I think . I did have to put the levers inbetween the seats though. If not for that they would not fit.
Does the Ebrake handle pull up all the way still?
Stay away from negativity! Those that say it won't work will never go anywhere! ou don't need them in your life!
My sides ache thinking about being jostled and catching my hip on sharp corners.😢
Looks really good! Earlier this month your welder gas wasn't working correctly. What fixed it? I've been curious.
Our best guess is it was an electrical issue from construction in our business park. All we had to do was factory reset the machines. Ian walked me through the process when he came to visit earlier this month and all is good now.
It was so weird that everything went down at the same time. Had to have some common denominator and now I know to unplug everything at the end of the day
That is quite odd. Thanks for replying. Glad you got it figured out.
Gotta ask, what was wrong with the old seats?
Nothing at all. I did consider having them recovered by PRP because they were looking a little tired (they have open to the elements for the past 5 years), but I needed to get seats for the Liberty anyway, so this move kills 2 birds with 1 stone 😊

AHH Wee Lassie you try your best looks a bit like Rab C made it
Let me give you some advice….blah blah blah. 😂 Do the damn thing! Love ya lady!
You are going to cut the covers on the new seats. To many pointed pieces that still into the seats.
Hollie do yourself a favor, learn how to braze acetylene and oxygen, with a #4 tip and a flux coated brass rod. it is easy to use on thin metals and if done correct is as strong as arc welding and tig welding and less heat, so it is less likely to blow through the thin stuff
Definitely something I’d like to learn! Great suggestions!
Nothing wrong with what you did.
Oh and you need to get on the liberty lol
Ain’t that the truth 🤣
Where is the Liberty?!!!!!!!!
You may want to test the parking brake. Just saying!!
OnX build!!!😅
If it is a temporary fix why did you not just cut and shut the original panel as it is already bent near to what you need so just narrow it and re-drill tje fixing holes job done one hour later, as a metal fabricator in the racing world that is the quick and dirty way.
Take it to Robbie and have Shawn build one
That guy is a master!! Everything he has built for Robby has been a work of art 😍
Just make them narrow
C4yt
Being honest I think the big problem is your Roll cage set up and design ,you are squeezed in like a Cod in a fishing net .
Holly you wasted material. Should have lined edge of back piece on edge of material. Oh you have RUclips money! 🤣😂🤣
It's wasted dead space, get rid of it.
I hate to say it but this is a hack job. Mischief Maker deserves better. You could have used the original piece and just cut it down.
I’m gonna make a completely new one when I get back. There wasn’t a ton of time this time around and I couldn’t leave it open for Windrock. 🤣
@@MischiefMakerTV nobody wheels at the great Smokey Mountain duckfest🤣
Correct. The wheeling happens after.
