Tried the Focals, these are built too much to budget, I ended up testing a lot of speakers and went with the Amphions (one18) - look at this level first my mixes have transformed since going to the pro level. I can hear into the 30hz region but the detail pisses all over the focals - unless you go up to the Beryllium tweakers. The Focal shapes/ alphas are nice speakers, just not tools, more for fun listening. Try them first and make sure you can send back, otherwise just go high end.
No clue what you are talking about. Thomann and Sweetwater have never heard of "Amphion." So where do you get them, at Best Buy? "Beryllium tweakers?" Sounds like some overpriced hype. How about going with Lithium-Ion instead? 🙂
@@frankfarago2825 are you being serious? The Beryllium tweeters are what are used on the Focal 6bes and Twin serious which are the top level Focals. Amphion make some of the best mixing speakers in the world. Might be worth you doing a bit more homework to understand what you might be buying so you can see what gives focals their high end reputation.
And there you have it folks - try listening to how the important it is in the mids.
I’ve been mixing for quite a few years now and there’s lots of bullshit floating around and RUclipsrs bullshitting us into buying prosumer speakers. If you’re into producing buy whatever but if you want to mix you need to be looking to some more serious stuff. You can kid yourself like this last person who doesn’t have a clue or kit yourself out with some reasonable gear. If you are a beginner it’s not worth it but those serious about their craft will instantly appreciate the benefits.
@@richertz Yo', Ric, kindly READ what YOU WROTE first. This what YOU wrote: "Beryllium tweakers." And now you are talking about TWEETERS? Whatever has happened to them tweakers? Whatever, Man. As far as your "Amphions" -- I could not find them form any of the REPUTABLE PRO AUDIO DEALERS we usually deal with. And you failed to disclose even when asked where you got them. Maybe the mfr sells them directly to the public?
@@frankfarago2825 so I made a mistake and missed it-it happens with typing on a phone. Anyway I and many popular users of Amphions including Dave Pensado. Maybe do some research rather than see who sells them. We have a very respectable dealership here in the U.K. that sell them. I’m not sure where your based but if it’s US there are plenty of distributor’s there just look on the website. You won’t find them in your typical prosumer shops. I’m happy with the Amphions and they will beat any “Adam/Eve/Budget focal”.
Is that Botox? lol
Yes you should save so you can afford it too and maybe you get a girl half hot as mine. Also don't look at taken men that much, pay attention to the speakers son.
swear
Does it make sense to have these (especially the sub woofer) in an untreated room? Or is it a waste of a good system
Well look at it this way, what's the alternative? A bad system in a bad room? 😄 That's definitely gonna be worse
@@mixbustv I was thinking investing in good quality Headphones as an alternative
@@bobmoegrabi Headphones -- are indeed a poor man's well treated control / mixing room with top-notch monitors. If you can, go with the open-back types, or at least with semi-open.
@@raztube90 Right you are. First thing is some room treatment. Even if you just throw down some carpeting on the floor, have some carpets or drapery or gobelin on the walls & covering the windows, a few upholstered pieces of furniture, such as an armchair.
