@@LanceZukie14 Nah 73-9 team is the best team that never won a title, they blew 3-1 but still impressive Curry beat KD & Westbrook and almost beat Lebron in the same year he have Kyrie and Love.
@Kaden Williams the offense was much better with CP3 running the floor than Harden; everybody was involved and everybody played better as opposed to standing around watching Harden dribble for 20 seconds.
History will look at this 2018 rockets team very kindly!! The fact that they actually took the warriors (most talented team of all time) to a 7th game is quite the accomplishment. If Chris Paul doesn't get injured there's a good chance they win that series and go on to win the championship
No the would have been champions if there coach would have said stop taking all of those threes and drive the ball to the rim but he likes that european style of ball hacking up three point shots at will if only they would of had a traditional low post player to get some easy buckets in the post which is the true American way if playing .
They were successful all season with that approach. Also, if you watched the games you'd know they were driving the ball a ton. When they missed 27 three's in a row, they were scoring by driving to the basket during that period. Even the Warriors don't have "a traditional low post player" so I have no idea what you're talking about lmao
tmd1 They weren't successful using that approach at all. They varied their attacks, actually ran an offense and used picks far more frequently during the regular season. They (Harden) abandoned all of that and opted for holding on the ball for 20 seconds of the shot clock, and forcing bad, contested shots over defenders due to a stagnant offense. It was a flawed approach and after the first 10 misses in a row, they absolutely should have switched up their attack. It's hard to be accurate when you're forced to jack up an out of rhythm shot with 4 seconds left on the shot clock after a guy burns shot clock for 20 seconds and never gets into any actions to generate good looks at the basket. That's stupid basketball.
I could tell you barely watched any regular season games. The way they played then was almost identical to the playoffs. Harden held the ball for a long periods ALL THE TIME during the reg szn. And it worked too. Harden would hold the ball for 20 seconds, eventually get past his man, draw the entire defense in and then hit an open shooter in the corner. A majority of the times they used picks was just to get their target on the switch and then back to iso. You have perhaps the best iso player OF ALL TIME, why would you not let him iso against Curry, Looney and other bigs? It worked against the Warriors. It won them three games and had GS on the brink of elimination. You think the style of play changed? No, what changed was the fact that CP was no longer on the floor. That's it.
I'm a Rockets fan, I watched damn near every game so you can spare me the "you didn't watch the games" nonsense. And no it wasn't. While they utilized isolation, they (Harden) weren't holding onto the ball and burning shot clock in the regular season like they did in the Playoffs, especially against GS. And Harden as the best ISO player of all time is laughable with his horrid efficiency come the post season. With CP3 running the floor, the team got into their offense quicker, and he utilized a lot of mid range which helped collapse in the defense and provide open shots. Harden standing on the perimeter for 20 seconds of shot clock did nothing for the offense, and his trash efficiency and shooting splits throughout the Playoffs show it. They weren't winning based on offense -- they only had 2 games in that series where they scored over 100, and only 1 that was a certified blow out -- defense is what won those games. So it's no surprise that when CP3 was injured, the defense went to shit after the second halves of games 6 and 7, and the offense stagnated. GS won based on better defense and better overall offense across the board.
That shit broke my heart and even missing 27 3’s in a row we still lost by only less than 10 points man wish I can go back and experience this team again I took it for granted
