    Not everyone has a new chain hanging on the table, or a chain tool.
    This video is oldschool and manly.
    Good job

    This is the most well constructed, simple, and straightforward tutorial I have ever seen. You should definitely do more tutorials with this humble style if you have the same extent of knowledge in other areas. Again really nicely demonstrated. Thank you for providing a quick solution to my chain problem.

    This is the only video I came across where the chain shortening is explained from scratch. most other videos I saw started with the chain already opened using some master link. Good and useful video

    Should be explained here that this only works for systems up to 8-speed chains [track-chain or 3/32"-6-speed or hyperglide 8-speed)...
    For 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 speed systems [all different, narrower and narrower!], you really MUST use either the 'special one-use pin' or a special-link, elsewise the re-joined chain just falls apart a bit later, pin comes out!...

    Hey, so I watched your video. But I don't have a punch currently. Would just something pointy actually work, like scissors?

    • @jimroot_04
      @jimroot_04 3 года назад

      I think it's better to use nails, using your scissors will only cause the scissor break

    I removed links using this method but the chain is still slipping, there isn't full engagement between the drive sprocket teeth and the chain. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

    This is NOT a good solution for replacing a bike chain. It worked for me, but if you test the next link or two up the chain from where it has been broken, it will not fall under the weight of gravity anymore. That is, if you hold the chain up horizontally the first link still on the chain after breaking will not fall under the weight of gravity anymore as the others do. This link will cause a little bit more friction and will cause more resistance when you ride making it a bit more difficult. If you have a bike that is not that good it should not matter too much, but if you have an ok bike and want to go quick it will slow you down just that very small amount.

    • @one2three123
      @one2three123  2 года назад +1

      For any regular average bike rider it will not matter. If you think that someone who is so into bikes and riding that this would make a difference looks for a video like this on RUclips you are wayyyy off.
