Happy Cinco De Mayo! A little different video for the mid week. More focused on being informational! Be sure to contact the links in the description for questions!! Check them out!
Really awesome and thank you from the bottom of my heart, I had some questions, 1) What is the cost? 2) timeframe, And how safe will it be from storms, earthquakes and the like? What will the cost be for a two-bed house like this?
We're in the process of designing our dome for FT living. This video was quite helpful. A shame Blueridge haven't kept up on their RUclips page. Was hoping to ask a question or two but they don't seem to answer questions under the videos they do have. This property is everything!
This is very helpful for the interior of my dome. i've got the shell and inside platforms done. Mine is 3 level inside. Just doing toe interior framing now. Thank you, Wulfy
Hey that’s awesome that you’re building your own dome! I was wondering if you went with the same supplier as the one in the video? Really looking into where I should purchase my dome frames from!
@@DaSilva_7 I came across a few of the childrens playground geodomes. They are about 4.5 feet high. I used the hubs and replaced the struts with longer struts. I installed pressure treated round wood to allow the dome to sit level in the mountainside. Attatched OSB ply to the exterior then installed 2" foam insullation and then installed OSB ply to the interior. Then on the outside I applied felt roofing material then another inch of foam and then stucco mesh and 3 coats of stucco to the exterior and Added a sealing layer. On the interior I installed craft paper and then cedar boards to all the triangles and also the pony walls. Inside there are 3 floor levels a. Lower kevel on the down hill side and a 5 ft higher than the bottom level upwards and another "deck" level over the bottom level. Then I added a atrium in the front and above that is a wrap around deck outside. It prob sounds confusing. But it is super strong. I also imbeded climbing grips around the back.
@@wulfclaw4921 it does sound confusing to me but you seem like you k ow what you’re doing! I loved the different floor idea. I hope it turns out great, post a video once you’re done for everyone to see!
I like this!🙃 Lots of interesting information to visualize how to build a dome.😲 It seems like you don't know what to do with your hands while you aren't talking?! I know that problem.😂 Take a pen or something and hold it, move it. Works fine for me.😉 Have a good evening and I see you next friday!❤
This is my moms dream to have a dome house like this only in half glass and half wood, our winter to cold for tent style like this 🙂 but its still for me its One of the beautiful houses 😍
I loved this video. It goes into good detail of what it actually feels like to get into this process and gives good insight to those who are also interesting in doing the same thing. Very good questions and answers and I'm inspired to get into doing this for Airbnb.
Wish there was more discussion about the cost of building one of these...even if the exact cost he spent to build these particular ones. That'd be helpful. But thanks for the amazing vid
Hope in the future building permits can be issued for this as a residence in Hawaii. Yurts in Hawaii, yes permittable, domes not so much. why? no clue doesn't make sense right? I guess because domes are considered temporary shelter in Hawaii, maybe change the name of them to sustainable 40-year dwelling so it no longer falls into their temporary category per Hawaii building code.
Hi! Thank you for sharing! I just called Pacific Domes looking for anyone building a dome home who would be interested in help. I found out today I have the next 2 weeks to volunteer on a project (In the United States). I've been looking into building a sustainable home for many years and finally ready to really start the process. I started focusing on geodesic biodomes recently and am really interested in gaining as much knowledge and experience as possible. Thank you and I'll be sure to like the blue ridge page as well! 😉🙏
Very informative! Just finished my shipping container tiny home and have been considering a dome for the next house on the property here in Colorado mountains!
what acs do you recommend for a glamping tent? is there something that can be used as a solar tie-in? or have its own generator? For a site in Florida.
Hypothetically if I live near Ashland, Oregon where Pacific Domes homebase is and I decided I wanted to buy land, could I pay or hire them to come out and build it for me?
My guess would be probably not ideal.. There seems to be a large gap at the bottom of the skirt with no solid or air tight joining. . and no insulation under the floorboards would make it expensive to keep warm.
I'm interested by this structure for about more 10 years now I live in the caraïbes...Pacific dômes is one the distributors ,but are they the manufacturers ? Because now you Can buy those directly from china , and it's very less expensive ...and you have thousands of vendors...so i will but one with a maximum options concerning the cover ans meterial quality...but i will not buy one with a distributors...too expensive for this kind of product...people will buy more dômes from distributors if it was cheaper
Good old Pacific Domes keep making overpriced steel frame domes. Now it's possible to make a good 30 ft diameter dome in the frequency 3, in 3/8 with less height, for a half of the PD price, even with the shipping from Europe. Owners of such domes were invited in to Airbnb PLUS, and had their fee waived for ingenuity
I am interested in volunteering on a handmade dome home project. Do you know of anything going on in the USA that I could help with? I found out today I have the next 2 weeks available. I have been researching and dreaming of building a sustainable home for years. Finally ready to get my hands dirty. Very last minute but if anyone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it very much! Thank you 🙏

I never comment on RUclips vids... dude... This video is the first step for me to set my dream in motion. Thanks for all the useful info.
Those Birds!!! My God!!! SOOO DIVINELY BEAUTIFUL! Miss them’
Questions: 1- Did it smell like new vinyl in the dome for a while (if so how long)? 2- How is the dome skin secured along the floor where they meet?
I imagined myself sitting and listening peacefull music and drinking cup of coffee.🎹🎵🎵🎵
What an electric couple they are, they make a darn good team at making magical spaces happen. Two thumbs up from me.
As someone who has been looking into building one of these, this was an amazingly informative video! Thanks!
Very helpful. Considering buying land in Joshua Tree and building a dwell dome. I definitely subscribed.
How is ur progress in Joshua Tree? I’ve been looking into doing same
Hello Levi, the owner did a great job building a hippie dome lol...I will put this one on my list to visit. Good video.

Truth
They are around 15% cheaper than comparable homes and much more energy efficient. I’m looking at one right now that starts at around 8-15k
Standard is around 10,000 and that's for a 20 ft space. The cheapest is 4,000. Pacificdomes.com will have all of the info you'll want.
@Bree Yah absolutely not true;

Great topic on the design and build of the Dome Airbnb. Curious if he mentioned about the cost of land in the Asheville area? Happy Cinco de Mayo.

How they are handling the winter ?

@@mmjnice97 They have a winter package that addresses those needs. The domes featured in this video are not the winter versions.
