I am looking forward to Eric Washington calling plays for the first time in his career as a DC. I imagine the defense will be more aggressive with more blitz schemes.
The Chicago Bears have NEVER fired a coach mid season in the 105 year history of the organization until today You KNOW you ass when the organization breaks tradition to get rid of you 🤣
Eberflus was basically hired before Poles was. Imagine you're Poles interviewing for the job and your bosses want you to meet with a guy. You're going to assume you're boss wants the guy.
Ryan Poles was hired on January 26, 2022. Ryan Poles hired Matt Eberflus two days later. Here was his quote..."Poles trusted his instincts when he hired Matt Eberflus less than 48 hours after being hired as GM. “The moment he walked into the room, I knew he was the guy” Poles said..... Dan Quinn was probably the better choice and it is in the past. Hopefully, Thomas Brown will do well these last 5 weeks and be retained as the head coach for 2025. I also hope DC Eric Washington does well calling defensive plays these last 5 games of the season.
@@YT-Holdings While I agree that Quinn would have been a better hire (he at least had head coaching experience), I don't think it's fair to act like Eberflus was Poles' hand-picked coach. He was given a short list of potential coaches when it was already midway through the hiring cycle and had to make his decision about 48 hours after giving his final interview for his first ever GM job. Let's not pretend that was a real, exhaustive coaching search. He didn't even get to be a part of the coach hiring process until the final round of interviews. Yes, he spoke highly of Eberflus after they hired him, as you would expect ANYONE to do, but I don't think we can say that Eberflus was Poles' hand-picked coach. Edit: Grammar
Yeah between the three of them there’s enough blame to go around but Caleb gets the least play because he has a rookie and as such he’s expected to lean on the coaches more for the decision making.
Plus Brown is upstairs in the booth. The head coach has full responsibility for calling timeouts; not assistants. Remember the Indy game when the assistants were saying go for one after the TD but Flus said go for 2, confusion set in and they had to burn a timeout.
Not only did Eberflus and the Bears leave a TO on the field they also left a down on the field. Worst case scenario: even if the bomb to Odunze fails on 3rd down (which it did) at least you'd get one more shot at the endzone. They even failed that.
Agreed, this had to happen it is good for every player, every fan, and the city. I hope he now understands he us a DC and not a HC hopefully he understands that moving forward
Chicago is a Blue Collar Town, regardless of our beautiful Lakefront, Skyline, Museums, Symphony and the like. And as such, the Chicago Bears MUST search out and hire a Head Coach with that very same Blue Collar Mindset. We've got to rebuild the culture of this team from the ground up. The Fans in Chicago want a winner... not a competitor, A WINNER! It's been thirty-nine years since we could say that!!! We need the phrase "BEAR DOWN" to mean something again!!!
This is the same thing that happened last year at the end of games. Blowing leads and all. Cost em the playoffs. The bears, poles, and eberflus deserve this for throwing Justin Fields under the bus. Fire them all
Start now sizing up the next batch of coaches, have it narrowed down to 3 H.C. then have the players do a secret ballot because they have to play for that coach! That's the American way!
What’s nice is now for the rest of the season we get an in game interview process for Thomas brown. Bears can find it if they have a trying Mike tomlin or what for the next 6 games. They don’t have to gamble on hiring him.
You can Not say, He was the wrong guy! He was not good at winning games, but He is great at building a culture and brand, which was much needed at the time. Now, it is time to win! Thanks, Coach Flus, part of the business, all life, is a stepping stone. We are all here to learn and grow, bar none! I do not believe in kicking an individual, at a low point in life. If I am not willing to assist that individual in some way, physically, emotionally, with knowledge, or wisdom... I, do them no positive service, kicking a man while he is down. It is not about Coach Flus's integrity, it is about my own! It is my responsibility to always be aware of myself, and act in a responsible manner I, would be proud of. Peace. LaMu
What’s nice is now for the rest of the season we get an in game interview process for Thomas brown. Bears can find it if they have a trying Mike tomlin or what for the next 6 games. They don’t have to gamble on hiring him.
Who that the Bears have hired in the last dozen years WASN'T the "wrong guy"? They seemingly haven't once hired the right guy for any position. Ryan Poles has made some enormous mistakes himself during his tenure as G.M., and I think he might be gone shortly as well. While we're at it, I'm not sold on Kevin Warren. His job was a new stadium, and so far nothing has been accomplished. By the way...even with our new and improved O.C., the Bears started with three 3-and-outs and scored zero points in the first half of Thursday's game. The offense STILL doesn't look ready at the start of a game. So who do we blame now in this endless Bears blame-a-thon? I'm sure we'll find someone.
Matt Eberflus has traumatized our future in QB Caleb Williams, teammates, fans and perhaps now the healing can begin. But I must say this feels sorta like the Wizard of Oz when the wicked witch got ended. Traumatized but relieved.
Nah, Caleb realized the disorganization after the sack, changed the play but was a little early and or off on the bomb- Caleb is fine, and I’m a packers fan Flus should have been gone last week after another blocked FG when the Packers said they saw the weakness in the blocking and it wasn’t fixed for the Minnesota game
This was long overdue. I’m glad they pulled the trigger but Poles really needs to ace this hire because sticking with arguably the worst head coach in franchise history as long as he did could really define his tenure if this next head coach doesn’t pan out
What’s nice is now fit the rest of the season we get an in game interview process for Thomas brown. Bears can find it if they have a trying Mike tomlin or what.
As a Vikes fan I'm happy that you guys get a chance to reset at the right time...a good rookie QB, a stud young reciever, a high pick. Things can only get better. I however feel like we are in for a couple more years of 10 plus wins, but terrible coaching when it matters most. I'd rather start fresh than live in mediocrity. KOC and Flores are just ok. Not good enough for a fan base dying to be great.
Last 4: Trestman, Fox, Nagy, Eberflus. It ain't gettin' better with this firing, folks. The Bears are broken at the top, like the Sox. They can't and won't get it right. Fourth in the North.
The looks on the Detroit players faces as the Bears lost was not what one could refer to as 'happiness'. They knew that had the Bears been adequately led by a real coach, they were cannon fodder and would very likely have suffered, not just a defeat, but a crushing blowout. And they know that Caleb was picking them apart as a rookie and will only improve from here on out. With coaching improvements, the Bears could be invincible.
“Cannon fodder” “crushing defeat “?? You do realize the Bears had 1 first down and 38 yards in the first half, right? And that first down came with less than a minute left in the half
That 10 game losing streak that put them in position for the #1 draft was intentionally masterminded, this current 6 game streak is not intentional except the fact Eberflus masterminded his own demise just to be relieved of his stressful duties as head coach of a incompetent team!
Another thing the Bears have never done in-season is fire a coach who should so very obviously have been fired in the offseason. In fact, the second the decision was made to bring in a promising rookie QB Eberflus needed to be fired. Arguably so should the GM who hired him have been.
Poles didn’t hire him. EberLOSE was hire by Warren and McCaskey before Poles was hired. I don’t think Poles was allowed to fire him at end of last season bc of Warren/McCaskey.
The owner had to fire him because in critical moments he kept showing he was not ready to be a head coach. I understand why he wanted to keep his final timeout, but it was obvious the quarterback was struggling with getting the team lined up.
Dear McCaskeys, Do you even remember your long history of failure and incompetence? Let me remind you. Virginia, you had to fire your own son Michael for botching a hire-how embarrassing is that? You hired Phil Emery, the same guy who humiliated Bruce Arians, forcing the Coach of the Year to act out a press conference during his interview, only to pass on him entirely. Then you drafted Trubisky-a quarterback with nine college games-over Patrick Mahomes. Oh, but it gets better. Back in the late ’70s, Bill Walsh wanted the Bears job. He practically handed it to you on a silver platter, and you said no, hiring Neil Armstrong instead. And now we’ve got Eberflus, the latest example of your ineptitude. Who’s responsible for this mess? Not the coaches. Not the GMs. It’s you-the McCaskeys. George, you call yourself a fan of football? Fine. Then be a fan, but for the love of God, stop pretending you know how to run a football team. Those aren’t my words-they’re yours. You admitted it. So do the only thing left to do: sell the team. Sell it to Robert Kennedy Jr., the Kardashians, or even Carrot Top for all I care. Just get the hell out of ownership. You’ve done nothing but screw over your fans for decades, and we’re done. We’re going to hurt you where it matters-financially. Stop buying jerseys. Stop buying merchandise. Stop showing up. It’s time for someone else to step in and build a Chicago team that can actually compete. Maybe even a whole new team to put you out of business. Sell the fucking team. Do it for the fans. Do it for the city. Or don’t-because we’re done with you either way. Sincerely, An Enraged Bears Fan
Matt secretly wanted out but would not resign to save face. He intentionally made these coaching mistakes in order he would be eventually let go!cmon no one is that stupid foolish enough as a head coach unless he intentionally masterminded his own firing!
