What team in their right minds would trade for any of this bunch. Other than Marner leaving, there won't be many changes. All the no movement clauses the leafs have wont allow it. The leafs as they are just cant win in the playoffs. Shanahan should be fired but probably won't.

The crazy part is, im not even that upset. I think that's because of a few things. 1) I was expecting this result. 2) It's been the same result for 9 years now, and I've grown apathetic. 3) This core is very unlikeable, and im sick of cheering for them

As a Blues fan, I can say this Leafs Team reminds me of the Blues of the 90’s and early 00’s. We never made it past the 2nd Rd with Hull, yet he went on to win in Dallas and Det (he became more well rounded). We had 2 #1 Defensemen in Prongs and MacInnis and made to the conference finals only once. Such good regular season Teams who were bounced in the first and 2nd Rd every year (a lot by Det in a no cap era). We made the playoffs 26 years in a row with no Cup (from the 80’s to the mid 00’s - 2 Conference Finals only). We had so much heart break until 2019. This Leafs core will not get it done. Let Marner, Tavares, and Shanny go. For starters, bring in Marchand (and you’ll never lose to this guy again).

Thinknthat was one of the Leafs biggeat mistakes. Normally, NMC are given as a sweetener to get the player to take a discount on the contract. Leafs management gave them out like candy.

Barely made it past Ottawa equated to couldn't close out the Panthers. unfortunately for Leaf fans, this was predictable. Leafs management has some serious thinking to do before the draft, and next season. This current version of the Leafs can't get it done in the post season. Changes should be a coming. As a Sens fans, I do take a little solace in seeing the Leafs fall, but only a very small part of me. Leaf fans deserve better than what they have been given for the past decade or so. The BIG question that remains, are Leaf fans willing to live through the multi-year rebuild process and support a team that may end up being out of the post season for a few years. I hope so, because they really do deserve better.

I don’t understand why people are surprised. There are only 2 players in the top 15 salary cap hits still in the playoffs. One is Connor mcdavid at 3 the other is barkov at 14. The leafs have 4 of those guys. You can’t build a team that way it doesn’t work. Look at what happened to the hawks after toews and Kane became the highest paid players in the league
The Blackhawks got old and they drafted horribly. If your core played like they do in the regular season they would have won.

What a clinic. Panthers were running a clinic, teaching forechecking, effort, positional play, pressure and how to force turnovers. Legit the same conversation ad nauseam for 10 straight years, Leafs fans seem to have finally ... finally given into the idea that a change needs to be made with the core 4. The fans want it more than the players. That's the #1 problem.
They are not the better team. There seems to be this belief that they should be able to outplay the former Stanley Cup champions who have made the final the last two seasons. Compare the rosters, they can’t do it because they are just not as good as Stanley Cup teams, let’s not forget some of these losses were to Tampa Bay who also went to finals and won a cup. It is not about them choking, they are not at those levels, they are just worse so let’s stop expecting miracles. They need to keep building and balancing their forward group to be more consistent and not so dependent on skill alone.
