NDA (National Defence Academy): For 12th pass candidates who wish to join as an officer.

2. Selection Process
The selection process to join the Indian Army as an officer involves:
a. Written Examination
Depending on your entry mode, you might need to clear a written examination:
NDA and CDS: Conducted by UPSC twice a year.
Technical Entry (TES and TGC): Direct SSB call-up based on merit.
b. SSB Interview
The Service Selection Board (SSB) interview is the main selection process, and it includes:
Stage 1 (Screening Test):
Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test: Verbal and non-verbal reasoning tests.
Picture Perception and Description Test (PPDT): A group activity involving discussion based on a picture shown to you.
Stage 2:
Psychological Tests: Word Association Test (WAT), Thematic Apperception Test (TAT), Situation Reaction Test (SRT), and Self-Description Test.
Group Testing Officer (GTO) Tasks: Group discussions, group planning exercise, progressive group tasks, individual obstacles, and command tasks.
Personal Interview: A one-on-one interaction where your personality, motivations, and suitability for the Army are assessed.
Conference: A final assessment meeting where the board members discuss your overall performance.
c. Medical Examination
Candidates recommended by the SSB need to undergo a comprehensive medical examination to ensure they meet the physical and medical standards set by the Indian Army.
3. Meeting the Captain
During the selection process, particularly the Personal Interview stage, you may interact with senior officers, including those with the rank of Captain or higher. In this interview, expect questions about:
Personal Background: Family, education, interests.
Motivation: Why you want to join the Indian Army.
Current Affairs and General Knowledge: National and international events.
Leadership Qualities: Examples from your life demonstrating leadership, teamwork, and initiative.
Tips for Success:
Prepare for the Written Exam: Go through the syllabus and practice previous years' papers.
Practice Physical Fitness: Build stamina and physical strength to clear physical tests.
Improve Communication Skills: Practice group discussions and improve your fluency in English, as it helps during the SSB.
Mock SSB Practice: Consider coaching or mock SSB interviews to familiarize yourself with the pattern.
Stay Confident and Honest: During interviews, be genuine about your thoughts and experiences. Confidence and integrity are valued.
