Very nice. It's amazing that so many today allow themselves to get caught up in striving, craving and superficiality. Seeing through all of it is really not that difficult. I'm fortunate to have always valued simplicity over excess/stimulation. But we all need reminders and this chapter is a beautiful one. Your advice to "Let Go~Let Be" and to sync up to nature is particularly helpful. Thanks so much.
This podcast actually reminded me a lot of your book art of effortless living. It's so easy for us to be deceived by the world, that's what's difficult about it. Also really enjoyed the beautiful pearls of wisdom dropped by Gayoung. And you too Jason 😉☺️ . Love to you both!
Taoism, the philosophy of the slow burn. Ratcheting up excitement, just like any process of addiction, doesn't end up well. Thanks for your discussion.🙏 By the way, happy 50K!
Pop culture, and our culture in general, has always been about burning the candle at both ends, especially after the trendy 60’s “revolution”, which as only a flip side of the coin replacement of the traditional dominant culture.
Wonderful interpretation of this chapter Jason. My working career was one of those that put you in a mad race (running) in obedience to the clock. Broadcasting became out of control when the "fairness doctrine" was abolished. At that time if you presented a one sided opionion on politics you had to offer equal time to opposing viewpoints. It worked. When it was done away with anybody could tell you anything without hearing from the other side. The counter culture became corrupted and are todays polititions. This is not new however. When Newspapers were the main source of information, they manipulated people with fear. They could easily twist public opionion on any subject. Problem is that Americans rely on others to tell them what problems are and solve them. Fear sells time. Advertising keeps you in buisness. Polititions push the (hard work) mentality. We are a country desperately in need of the Tao. The only thing I can do is to continue on the path. Programs like yours are a good start. Anyway I ran the race, burned out and retired at 50. The rewards of that mad life style brought no satisfaction and I realize that in many ways I was part of the problem. Like you mentioned even music became corrupted and a tool of politically correct agendas. Many movies have some stupid politically correct message put forth by not to intelligent people. My burn out was the best thing that ever happened to me. It put me on the "Who am I" quest. I can't thank you enough Brother for what you do.
Very well said brother. Yes, you really need to be carefully what you consume these days. Personally, I stay away from movies, especially if I don't know much about it. I prefer to use my time digesting traditional forms of Eastern knowledge.

Oh yes I fast off and on and the first days of refeeding I eat only one type of food per meal and it's like tasting a new food. And then the feeling for more is gone. For me. Thankyou
Always sounds like an echo chamber when I hear you two truly grounded and luminous people discuss the times we are immersed in. We are mirrors indeed ….. I feel an instinctive pull to send you a little artistic gift or two. So relevant in regards as to all you were touching upon with pop culture and the dark side of k pop is intrinsically poisonous. As ever guys . Keep shining x
Just like China divides everything into 5 the West divides everything into 7 and 12. It means, were too intellectual and judge the fabric, not the essence and use of things. Its important, how you say things, not what you say. The wrapper is more important, than the candy, which could literally give us cancer, but as long its sweet and well sold, its good, compared to some rock candy with no commercial. Also the amount. You can digest sophisticated stuff so much more than crude stuff. Especially then crude stuff rely on the four seasons.
Thanks for all the Uploads! Regular listener. Would be interested, if there is the concept of mind and heart in Taoism. Sometimes I feel like it's hard to make decisions and just "go with the flow" because I don't know what to listen to. Maybe you are interested in talking about that in the future :)

Wow! Biggest congrats on 50K guys! 💥🔥 in this home place of mountains and nature no pop culture hahaha 🤣. No parties here … awesome 🌟👌. No chase and hunt …. Just free asf. Luca says city is like prison really, not free and damn artificial, trying to be like herd and woke. No time for going inside for meditation and just to be free in nature. Luca visits on weekend so am very very happy he can be so so free and happy again. 👏👏Guys you remind what is very important and this is lovely and true. Love from Bernardo.
Free asf is the best brother. Remain as one with the mountain my friend. I hope to join you up there one day and blend into the trees. Send our love to Luca. Love you brother.
Interesting thoughts throughout the episode. But how is liberal academia conservative? You talked about it on 14:10-14:15. Doesn't conservative mean someone who wants to conserve traditional values such as nuclear family etc.?
Hi Markus. The point was everything is upside down. Part of my point was conservatives are far more progressive in the real sense of the word (not political) than liberal academia. Real progress is actually built on traditional values, that is how we got here. Trying to tear those down is not progressive in the real sense of the word.
liberals in academia are actually conservatives because they are actually paid by wealthy conservative donors/companies who are conservative. they are constrained by their financial limitations. in essence they hold the same values necessarily. look at the finances and you will find alot of the answers.

The most expensive is shelter, especially if you happen to live in cold climate :) Namaste.
This is a nice change from the daily stoic practices I’ve been reading
The two of you compliment each very well in these conversations. Thanks for posting
I've been thinking about some of these themes, and it's great to hear a discussion that's helped bring some clarity to a couple things.
