I really would like to see what would happen if someone would put a real high performance power head on a 15-25 base, something like a Yamaha RD 350-400 engine with some really big carbs and ported cylinders and expansion chambers.
I just got an 18hp for my 12ft Jon, nearly ripped the back of the boat off before i reinforced it. Have the gas tank up front and about 30lb counter weight that i can move around when the fuel runs low to keep balance. Just did a test run yesterday, about to head out tomorrow and open up the throttle.
Was in stating island fishing the the Arthur kill under the outer bridge was trying to GRT back Amboy bridge got soaked 14 ft tiller 9.9 full throttled wet ass wind pu on us we made it back to new Brunswick with less then a quart of gas luck day 4 striped bass no tide to push us
i GOT A BRND NEW 4OHP SUZUKI ON MY 14' BARE BONES TINNY HAD TO PUT THE GAS TANK AND BATTERY UP FRONT BUT IT GOES ABOUT THREE HUNDRED MILES AN HOUR

I ran this motor on my 12' for a season it shook the rivets loose 😀Went fast tho
Try adjusting the tilt on the motor to level out at top end, and/or, a little weight up front.
Any adjustments just slow me down

It is fun when the bow get up so high when you are sturn heavy, feels like the wind could flip you till you. Get up to speed.
Ya at the right angle the wind blows the bow around like a flag lol
I have the Se sport 200 hydrofoil I think it helps me not flip. I'd like to put a stainless prop on

I put a 25hp Johnson on my 14 foot flat bottom Jon boat that SOB was flat scary came home put the 15hp back on it that was a awesome video brother
Ideally for a big lake with choppy water I'd want a 16 foot V Hull and 40 HP.
I was looking at flat bottoms before I bought this one. I wanted the extra speed but it gets pretty choppy out there for a flat bottom
