Authentic Shimano Dura Ace Chain?

My neighbor installed a new Shimano Dura Ace 11 sp chain and cassette on his bike. He brought it over to me because it was making a tremendous amount of noise and there was chain suck when rotating the cranks backwards. I looked closely at the chain and noticed something unusual for a Dura Ace chain.
