well u forgot to mention the secret phase 3..which u can get into, by shooting at the circling dogs in phase 2, until all of them release grey smoke..then a really cool scene starts and the giant green dog-plane-face eats these 4 grey smoking dogs right before your eyes and then u are in secret phase 3..which is way easier than having to play upside down..tbh..for me personally, this is the hardest boss of teh whole game, cause im just too unflexible to get used to reversed controls suddenly..and i am testing something, so im plaiyng the whole game only with cuphead atm..so i wont use mrs. chalice..
@@idiotsland242 what do u mean exactly? this might be off topic..but talking about time, ive realized, to get S-rank, u need a certain time..for most bosses, u need to make it in below 2:10 minutes..but the weird thing is..usually, when u get S-rank..in all other requirement-categories, like health, parries and special-move, the score gets yellow-color in the back, but when u get a time like 2:09 minutes, the score doesnt get a yellow background..it only gets yellow in the back, when u get 2:00 or below, for most bosses..so it has to mean something..so there seems to be a tolerable range of imperfection here, which means, even if u beat the time category at S-rank-level, its not perfect, if u dont reach the yellow score..so im doing an experiment there as well, by playing every level and every boss, trying to make every time-score perfect, with yellow background..i think it wont change anything in the game..but i think its just fun to set a goal like this to make the game more rewarding in a replay way..

if u use the roundabout thing he said, and use ms chalice super art one, and the target the thing you hit with roundabout using crackshot, you can murder 3 of them in like 2 seconds the kill the last one using crackshot
I needed this a long long long time ago but I S ranked them without help lol. And I’d like to use spread to get massive damage and I used Ms Chalice for charm with either Super II or III
I do prefer charge + spread for this battle The charge carries the entire battle, it takes out the puppies in just two shots and clears out the first phase easily. I use spread to deal with the fire hydrants and against the bowl attack with the last dog. I must say, I'm pretty bad at this battle, but not because the screen flipping, but because I have trouble against the lasers, I just don't know where they gonna shoot
at the last phase of this boss I ALWAYS pause the game when the laser guns are coming up: the laser guns themselves just shot in the same patern (Upper in a open diagonal, midle in close diagonal, bottom vertically with the other laser), so with the game paused I calmy calculate their trajectories and where to be in order to not get hit. This game of the right to have catches, so, did it with no regret or bad feeling: cheating against the cheater 🤣
Yeah, I'd say so. You have to deal with a LOT more uncounterable mechanics in order to just beat them, so I don't see any reason to do the secret phase. The normal last phase is very manageable without the secret phase and Sergeant O'Fera's section (the female dog) has a clear counter as I stated in the video. For those reasons, I don't see why you'd want to or need to do the secret phase (which is the same for Sally Stageplay as well imo).
The only aspect of the fight you're missing is the secret mode where you take the Yankee Yippers *down* and NOT *out*. You can skip all the screen flipping altogether. It was the only way I could beat The Howling Aces on Regular. Is there a way to S-Rank them by using the secret mode or are you forced to deal with the screen flip?
It's simply not worth doing so. I wouldn't intentionally seek out doing the secret phase because frankly I think it makes the phase harder and last longer than it needs to be in my opinion. You're having to deal with a lot of projectiles and chaos on the screen when both the normal attacks for the last phase are much simpler. The only issue is getting used to the screen flipping, but I have to insist that you get good at it. You can change the controls if you don't the like default and can also tilt your head for extra help. Heart Ring will always be a great charm for keeping your HP if you take any unnecessary hits, and that's all there is to it. Ultimately, I would recommend really practicing your Cuphead skills so these bosses are no sweat to you lol 😁👍
You can S rank playing the Secret Phase. The health ends up being identical in the Secret Phase to thr Normal fight given you get the Yankee Yippers to exactly 21% each on Phase 2. But remember that in Phase 3, Sergeant O'Fara has a separate health bar to the Yankee Yippers, you have to shoot at her to complete the fight. Attacks against the Yankee Yippers won't deplete the Sergeant's health.
I play it on PC and my monitors are in a stand that can be fliped...and I didn't think twice in order to physically flip the screen when it becames 9:16. This game of the right to have catches, so, did it with no regret or feeling: cheating against the cheater 🤣
i just needed the loadout. i know everything about the boss, i just didnt know what load out. anyways after developing my own strageties, i s ranked this without getting hit.
for me, every other fight of the whole game is a fucking joke against this one..cause i cant get used to reversed controls of phase 3..and getting into secret phase 3 takes too much time, so that i dont get S-rank..but at least secret phase 3 has no upside down shit going..so i try if i can manage s-rank this way...

In grim match stick, crackshot isn’t good since it does less damage than the other weapons like charge and lobber. And also it targets the fireballs

This was my favorite fight to S Rank. It was challenging but not super frustrating like some of the other bosses.
