The reason for the difficulty of the first mortal kombats was because they were ported from the arcade machines and they were obviously made to keep taking your money by making the enemies harder where in newer ones especially 3 were console releases so they made it easier since they weren't trying to money grab
I'm convinced Floyd gets easier with each consecutive loss. When I first fought him, I got my ass handed to me, as if it was on Very Hard. The 2nd time, it was close, as we went to Round 3, but thanks to T-1000 being insane, I won. I haven't ever gotten around to testing if he would get even easier if I lost to him twice or more in a row. 😅

I don't think those are secret fights from my knowledge, secret playable character doesn't = secret fight so those aren't in the video for that reason.

@Wazminator Well, at least the secret fights in MKX are missing. I previously only mentioned the fight against Reptile, but it's not the only one.
Examples of Secret Battles:
MK1 Tower: Fight against Reptile (referencing a secret from the first game)
MK2 Tower: Fight Kitana (Mournful), who wields the Jade staff (honoring the secret fight against Jade in MK2).
MK3 Tower: Fight against Mileena
MK4 Tower: Fight against Goro
If you do everything right on those towers, the message "You have discovered a SECRET FIGHT" will appear on the screen and unlocks the "Keep it a Secret" trophy/achievement.
To see the mk boss struggle in these older games is pure joy to my eyes
There's also female khameleon in mk trilogy but I think it was in the N64 version

To answer your question of "why do they have such good input reading" is because when the older mk games were made, the devs coded them that way so they wouldn't be easy to beat. Hence reading your inputs. The arcade ones were classified as "coin eaters" due to this hidden Fact so players could continuously return and Retry.
And it's still true to this day. I have an Mk arcade myself and even optimizing the Machine's difficulty to 'Very Easy' or 'Normal' will still give you the hardest time and will still hard read your inputs after 3-4 matches. No bullshit.

You forgot to mention the Easter egg for reptile mk1 where it says on the screen. “Bottom of the pit” letting you know there’s something secret going on at the bottom of the pit.
Seems odd that the 3D era didn't have secret fights.
01:16 👉🏻 That's Peter Pan, Wendy, John, & Michael flying past the moon in The Pit stage of MK. There are a few other well-known shadows, like Santa Claus & a witch, that fly past the moon sometimes also, but they seem to be a little rarer.
one thing you should know about from, an unc like myself, and an OG MK player is that until the 3D era, the AI used to read your inputs at higher difficulties. It was a well known fact of the arcade games.
