Cody was a top guy in AEW but a star in WWE. It's insane how he went from basically a midcard jobber to the indies then back to WWE as a megastar. The guy literally built his career back up from zero. He deserves the spot he's in right now.

Roman was Codys ultimate dance partner and the story that followed over the year between Manias was probably one of the best the WWE has ever produced. If Cody and Roman never crossed paths then Roman vs The Rock would have been the biggest match since The Rock and Cena for the WWE.

Cody is definitely up there. I'd put it right before what it took to get Brock back, but ahead of whatever it took to bring CM Punk back (it was probably just tons of money tbh). Cody is on top of the world and I don't know who could touch him right now.
Cody just didn't fit in with AEW. His storytelling, his promos and his ability to continue telling a story during a match is all things that AEW have struggled with for years. Outside of former WWE guys only MJF and Kenny can really do all of that in AEW. AEW can put on an awesome PPV with matches being amazing to watch but you just don't give a fuck about the build up to them because they are often woeful.
The brett hart deal was pretty big too. In the contract it had it that in the last month he was in the wwf he could shape his legacy how ever he wanted, or something like that.
