we are in new zealand, it is our very very cold winter, i was going to buy oodies for the family but oh boy the cost was a bit much, saw this and went yessssss not only can i get a sherpa backed blanket for under $30 i can sew - so now i can afford to have oodies to spare, your explanations were so clear, love it, ty
Thank you for this! I'm 13 and my grandma taught me how to sew with a sewing machine so this is good practice and I really want a hoodie like this. Thank you ❤️
I will make this. Everyone has an oodie and I feel left out but they are like over $100 hahahah so I wanted to make my own! Might make it a bit bigger though if I can find a bigger but still cheap and fluffy blanket
Made this today!!! Thank you SO much for the great tutorial! Showed mine to my best friend... she is dropping me off a blanket on Saturday to make her one !!!
Thank you so much! I got the free pattern from DIBY and was so overwhelmed because it’s too much and I don’t understand it. I’m more of a visual learner than trying to figure out a pattern. I’m probably gonna take the fleece fabric I bought back and just buy a big blanket, or use the fleece for something else.
Hi Shanticlaire, I totally understand. Working with pattern can be confusing. I hope my video was clear enough for you to follow. You can use any fabric you feel comfortable in and that keeps you warm :)
Hi thank you for the tutorial it's extremely easy to follow, how much fabric would I need or how big a blanket for an adult size and to add a kangaroo pocket? thanks again
Hi Ana, sorry for my late response. I made one for myself and I used a blanket that was 180cm wide and 220cm long. It was big and long enough for me. From the 2 cut outs I made the hoody and the kangaroo pocket. I hope that helps and you give it a try.
if i was to hand sew it, would i have it folded so the inside of the blanket is on the outside? and then when its finished, flip it to the right side? plz respond!🥺
Hi there, you have to fold it so the right side ( that is the side that is visible when you wear it) is facing each other when you stitch it. When you're done with stitching turn it around. Stitching by hand is a lot of work. Have you tried to use a sewing machine? It's really not that hard. If you have any more questions let me know. X
I made this tutorial so you can make yours as long as you want them or any way you like them. I just used what I already had at home as my motto is reuse what you already have.
Hi Lizzy, fold the blanket you want to use lenght wise in half and hold it in in the middle of your chest. That way you can see if the blanket is long enough and check if it covers your arms as well. I'm 1,60m tall and I made mine out of a blanket that was 180cm wide and 220cm long. I hope that helps?
@@ilsaiqbal6079 Hi Lisa did you try this project? I want to make a few of these for Christmas for adults and wonder if the measurements would be much different?
Oh my god, there is always one freaking A-Hole, take your sour self somewhere else! She did a brilliant job of showing us how to make our own blanket sweatshirt. I will definitely be making some of these, they'll make brilliant Christmas presents.
@ Michele Havas That’s pretty rude but anyway thanks for commenting it helps the youtube algorithm so more people can see this awesome hoodie. I know I will definitely be making one of these

Thats cool!! Which stitch did you use? I think this could be quite thick.
Hi! I used a normal straight stitch.
Can you tell me what size needle and thread count you used please
Hi Michelle, I used a 80/12 universal needle and polyester thread
if i was to hand sew it, would i have it folded so the inside of the blanket is on the outside? and then when its finished, flip it to the right side? plz respond!🥺

This is great, may be it could be made a lil longer to go till the ankles. That way you won't have cold feet🤣

@@dhydesign244 of course. What I meant was for myself. Anyways, I'm trying to convince my mom to make one for me 😄
@@cairasharma79 I'm pretty sure she will make one for you when you help her. Great way to spend time together :)
Would it work if i had an inside and outside piece of polar fleece and would i follow the instructions the same
👍👍👍
How tall is your daughter? I want to make one of these but I don’t know if it’ll be the right size for me.

What size blanket would i use for an adult??
I just want to ask what size is your daughter just for a rough example eg: extra small, small, ect
Hi ilsa, I would say it is a size small. I hope that helps and you give it a try :)
@@dhydesign244 Thank you! yes i will.

How much was it?
Camera view is too narrow to follow where and how to fold andcut
It isn’t an oodie if you make it yourself
It not as good as the real oodie is better
well if you want the real oodie then go buy it and leave with your negativity, she worked hard for this video, and who are you to criticize her.
Pls don’t say things like that it’s spreading negativity and nobody needs bad vibes ):
How do you know you didn’t even make it
