@LinkDing Welcome Tour is $10 and Mario Party TV is $20 (if you already own Jamboree.) Both contain about 20 mini games. Mario Party TV also requires the purchase of a USB camera if you don't own one. It's absolutely not lying to say Welcome Tour has a more justified price lol.
The Switch 2 is so powerful that it can finally run the 2 v 2 VS board mode… even though every GameCube Mario Party had that at launch, but let’s not think about that.
I wish they had gotten more creative with the camera stuff, like how playing as a Mii character in Mario Kart wii would put a mii's face on a bunch of logos in the background, but it'd be your face. Or more silly gimmicks in general. Instead of coins blocking your camera if you have a lot, collecting coins should just rain down and bounce off your head. Or voice activated stickers, like if you said "YAY" or "BOO", the sticker would pop up on the screen. However all the camera stuff here look non intuitive, like being forced to smile at the worst prom you've even been in. Instead of prioritizing making you do things in the camera to get more points, it should surprise you when it happens, like if the color of your shirt changed the border of your photo, or the game showing everyone's reaction to gaining and losing stars at the end of the game. Maybe every space you've ever landed on could show your face cam on it, and you and your friends could have a side competition to see who can cover the most ground with their face. This all makes me excited to see what they COULD do with these features, but disappointed in what we got
I feel like stuff like the ball being your camera and the camera popping around like a boo is the slightest step in this direction, and if it was more like that it would have been fun, rather than the way they did it that doesn't add Anything of note
They're encouraging the parents to be loud too though? Like unless there's four kids playing it together the parents are most likely going to be playing too. And if the parents aren't going to play as well this is literally what headphones are for just use them while listening to whatever. Outside of things you want to be able to listen to like music or shows, "the kids are loud" is not an issue.
I’m only halfway through but this game genuinely seems less functional if you aren’t playing with other people. The CPUs just don’t have to deal with the same jank the players do, making some minigames way harder for you than for them

Well, that's kinda a common problem with the CPUs in Mario Party games. Many of their minigames involve things like button mashing or fast reaction times, which CPUs can do frame-perfect without some kind of limiter, which makes them feel a bit unnatural. But I can see how the janky camera tech could make that even worse.

I remember buying a creative Webcam something like 23 years ago. The driver cd had a software suite for taking photos and videos, but also a couple of mini games you could play. The detection of your movement and interactivity with the games themselves was about as good as what you see here.

it's really weird that the base game and the jamboree tv content is separate in the menu, and ONLY the jamboree tv content actually has switch 2 upgrades. the base game doesn't even get visual upgrades. you cannot play pro rules or koopathlon in 4k.
What makes this infinitely funnier is Nintendo allows basically any camera with USB-C to work with the system. You can get both higher quality and cheaper cameras easily. I've no idea why Nintendo and cameras has such a cursed history.
This feels a lot like the days when you’d see everyone’s face edited onto characters in games, so seeing a real version of it in a somewhat gimmicky Switch game feel so cool, albeit kind of pointless lol

The only reason this Switch 2 expansion exists is so we can see RT's most cursed reactions and expressions, which the community will turn into memes and GIFs and continue to post until the end of time
I am so pleased that Nintendo continues to make weird gimmicky add-ons that likely won't be used much and nobody asked for but are still mildly silly and engaging. Keep doing what you're doing - I won't participate personally, but it's fun to watch others mess around with these things.
