The ending probably spoke to me the most out of any episode yet. Just such a phenomenal sequence that conveyed the underlying message of Berserk that no matter how much grueling, agonizing or arduous adversity Guts is bombarded with he always remains firm and poised while gripping the sword he always kept on his person to act as a representation of himself. And likewise Dimitri seeing someone who similarly endured through unbearable pain and vowing to not let his soul get ensnared by the Hell Worm was a great moment that closed off a really beautiful celebration of both.
Also one of the best parts, If the story is that God's Hand is responsible for the Fight... They traded A Struggler for a Warrior Prince... And I unironically think Dimitri would Slaughter them all to make sure Guts can Rest in Peace...
Neither Guts nor Dimitri were given the short end of the stick, both were well-respected in both the analyses and the animation. It was obvious the crew were both fans of Berserk and Fire Emblem with the amount of attention to detail sprinkled in the entire episode. Never thought Wolverine vs Raiden would be knocked out as my favorite episode of the show, but I am happy that it was this episode that did it. Here's to hoping Kylo Ren vs Edelgard would be just as good if it ever happens.
Dimitri was given too much though. He's not that durable. If we're doing comparisons the dragon that they scaled his durability to only has 16 defense when fought, which is low enough that a literal child with a silver weapon can damage.
The fact Areadbhar breaks in 20 hits like in 3H is so fucking cool and one of my favorite attention to details I need Lousy to write my most wanted series now, ToAru and Fire Emblem got peak rep and I could not be happier
I’m not going to go back and watch the fight to confirm, but does that take using atrocity into account? Also icicle lance uses weapon durability too but three hopes has a different durability system
@@luiginumbers6268 it likely does since it does cost durability too. Frozen Lance is in 3 houses as well so it's easy to use that for the weapon durability as well
Glad to hear how much you enjoyed the episode. Fire emblem is my favorite series of all time- was so happy to see it covered. Didn’t expect Dimitri to be the first one on, but this was probably the best outcome for me since there’s not a lot of FE MU’s I like. Easy 10/10 favorite of the season, in my top 10 of all time now. Will be very surprised if something manages to top this one.
This episode is one of the few episodes that really hits you when watching it. That last bit of dialogue from Dimitri at the end is so great. Guts dying on his feet inches away from Dimitri's face shows how truly terrifying the berserker armor is where even a moment of having your guard down can end in your death against someone wearing it. I do wish we got a bit more context to why they're fighting in the animation, like Dimitri accusing Guts of being a mercenary sent by Edelgard to kill him using Dimitri's hatred for Edelgard to start the battle.
Even without bias I couldn't help but say this is my new favorite death battle of this season and even thought I'm not even sure what even is my top 5 anymore this has to be mention for all the points you point out.also I'm with you this was a perfect example of why I love death battle. This episode was astounding as someone who really was sad his dream fight Guts vs Clare didn't happen At the moment it's my second favorite fight of the season under Chosenborn. That one was hand crafted for someone like me to just adore I'm happy you got one of your dream matches as well
Yeaaaaaaaaa this is definitely my favorite of the season. Singlehandedly got me into finishing up more of Three Houses, and that alone made the waiting period amazing for me, so seeing you bring up all of these nods and references to Dimitri's story and how it was used in the fight was very cool. Only thing I'd like to mention is that the criticisms it got on the vs side of things were very weird. They said that Dimitri shouldn't have used his thunder magic because he's "canonically bad at magic". That just never made any sense to me because he literally uses that same magic as a boss when you fight him (at least in Edelgard's route, idk about Claude's or the church's). Besides, that's like saying Might Guy shouldn't have used the eigth gate because he barely uses it. Even if that's true, it doesn't change the fact that he's still used it at least a few times, so why should it be a problem? There were other people who took issue with the scaling, but that's pretty standard stuff with these episodes. Though I'm pretty sure that the demons that were after Guts' soul likely went after Ingrid first but she flew tf outta there because everyone wants her ded. Source? My streams of Three Hou-
I’m right there with you in terms of paying more 3H due to this episode. Half the reason this review took me so long to make was because I kept wanting to spend all my time on my new game plus Blue Lions playthrough, lol I think a lot of the scaling criticism I’ve heard has come from Fire Emblem fans who haven’t been exposed to VS debating before. It caught me off guard at first because I barely batted an eye at it, but I can see why they’d get tripped up over compositing Dimitri across the four routes in 3H, or Dimitri being tough enough to survive a Javelin of Light according to the research.

This is definitely one of the best Death Battle of the seasons, though I will admit I think Bill Cipher vs Discord has a pretty good chance to beat it for me. Coming over from Biff's video, and I think I'm gonna jusy copy my comment from that one here: "As an FE fan, I adored this episode for itself but also for the absolutely hilarious crapshow that was the FE fandom leading up to and post the battle, with everyone yelling about how dimitri should have lost. Freaking hilarious, I imagine this is what Alucard vs Dio was like for Jojos. Personally I don't care, I just wanted the fight to be amazing and it was an absolute banger. Music was phenomenal as usual, with the added bit of a special emotional connection considering how much I adore the FE series and my love (and admittedly a bit of hate lol) for 3 houses. Not sure if it outright tops Fireborn but it is DAMN close. The fight itself was absolutely gorgeous all around and the lines, acting and just general character writing was perfect. Admittedly the voice acting for Dimitri was slightly jarring, but that isn't a fault o nthe Voice Actor: I'm just so used to Chris Hackney that anyone else, if they didn't do a perfect rmimicry, is odd. But it was still a very good performance objectively and for that I'm grateful. Of course, the emotional heigths of the episode are what truly sold it for me. There was no real 'he's just like me' moment like Zuko/Todoroki had which I'm grateful for, but the ending absolutely captured that feel, and got to show off Dimitri's inherent nobility that most of the fight missed since he was moreso in his 'boar prince' mode. Additionally, it gave Guts a huge amount of respect, letting him fight till his literal last drop of blood, and letting him finish standing on his feet. (also, fun fact, in 3 houses broken weapons can still be used. They're vastly weakned, but still usable. Which means that yes, Dimitri could have used the broken Aredbhar head to defend himself there even according to the FE rules.) The dual 'breakdown' moment is another stand-out emotional moment, even if it isn't as much . Absolutely stunning and incredible, shivers down my spine. It's one of my friends' favorite moment. It's also really special to me because, like you've mentioned for several of your favorite episodes, I got to watch it with friends from the fire emblem discord server I'm on. And we were losing our minds, loving everything that occured, losing our crap when Dimitri looked like he won, only to once again freak out when it looked like Guts was about to prove that to be a bait-and-switch only to even further lose it when it was revealed that nope, THAT was the bait-and-switch. This watch-along gave me so many fond memories so that made it even better. Also, side note, Jocelyn having the single most based take of her entire career. Wolves for life." As for a few things specific to you, 10/10 and it being the new top episode of the season are SUPER relatable. Dragonborn/Chosen Undead is a super cloae second though. I enjoyed your coverage of Guts's analysis and the respect given to him and his struggles. It was refreshing to see it be treated with the somber tone it deserves. I hooe to see something similar if/when Kratos ever returns. I thought Edelgard being in dislikes was smart but i think they could have also put her in likes. Would have been a subtle joke, not too obvious and wouldn't take away too much from the rundown. Respectfully, I absolutely DO NOT want to see Byleth vs Aether and will be extremely disappointed if they do so. Byleth likely will only get one episode and Byleth vs Rean Schwarzer feels like a far better pick as far as thematic connections go. (I can go into detail if you're interested, assuming you're unfamiliar with the character; suffice it to say though that there are just so many. Theres a reason my friend grouos jokes 3 houses ripped off The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel.) I saw that Lucina hint there. I really want her in as well, though I won't lie, I'm slightly concerned about her chosen opponent, especially if they go with Grovyle. Pokemon are BUSTED, and that one particularly likely is more than most.
The issue is that if we look at game stats that means literal normal humans can reach things like nuke level damage with silver weapons because Rhea only has 16 Def on CF endgame.
For a discord episode that doesn’t have many plot spoilers and might play into your likes I recommend Season 6 Episode 17 Dungeons and Discords or if you want an episode that introduces discord season 2 episodes 1 & 2 or the one that changes his heart watch Season 3 episode 10
As amazing as this episode was i still prefer Stitch vs Rocket as my favorite. But this one is definitely a close second to being number 1 for this season. As for the next episode i honestly think that it's a good episode and the best of the three Marvel vs DC episodes for this season but that being i can't give it higher than a 7.5/10.
As a FE fan, I have to admit, my thoughts on this episode are very....mixed. I can only give it an 8/10 *at best* and would be more likely to give it a 7/10. Mainly due to a feeling of....disingeniousness that lingers in the back half. But first, my two non-fandom based gripes. 1) I don't like the shot of the slash across Dimitri's back, since the angle really makes it look like the back of Dimitri's neck was hit, to the point that's what I thought happened on my first watch and then was subsequently confused on how Dimitri wasn't, you know, DEAD by decapitation. 2) The scoop and jump that lead into the kill feel kinda lame to me? I can't really say why, they just do. The killing blow itself is fine though. Now, on the fandom based things. To start, I will say. The analysis was genuinely quite good. I don't agree with VS calcs, but I never have, so let's ignore that. But otherwise, it was genuinely quite good. As for the fight, to make it clear, everything outside of my two earlier small gripes and what I'm about to comment on was REALLY well done. It's just these small things. Namely, the abilities Dimitri uses. Of the 5 abilities he uses (Tempest Lance, Thunder Magic as a High Lord, Frozen Lance, Awakening, and Atrocity), 3 are 3 Hopes exclusive. 60%. But.....3 Hopes Dimitri isn't the one in the matchup. He may be a similar character, but he lacks the mental instability and associated everything that is a major part of the draw for this matchup (To say nothing of the non-canon status of the games, if you consider that important, which I personally do). So it feels very disingenious to functionally use him in the fight while claiming it to be 3 Houses Dimitri, especially when they clearly put a lot of care and effort into the episode making it stand out even more. Furthermore, this could've been avoided. Magic being used in High Lord is honestly something I would be willing to overlook if it were the only error, since there *is* precedent in 3H for classes using both and it would just be a thing of narrative convenience. But Frozen Lance and Awakening just can't be overlooked in my eyes, since both are things ONLY present in the spinoff. (Also also, they could've just replaced Awakening Mode with Dimitri tapping into his crest and it would work just as well while being 3H accurate) The analysis has a similar instance when presenting the scaling and compositing. (Which I strongly disagree with but that's another matter). They present things as though Dimitri and Edelgard both soloed their respective final bosses when that.......isn't the case. At best, they finished off a weakened opponent, which is a far cry from how it's presented. So yeah. This is an episode that the casuals will love, and most FE fans will too. But it feels a bit too disingenious to me to have it as high as most.
@@e1iteyoshi998 Nah, the score I gave it is right for how I feel. Because, you know, I do enjoy it aside from the problems I have? This episode genuinely does a lot of things well. Basically everything Berserk related from what I can tell (I've never seen/read it so that's all I can work from) and aside from the fan-knowledge stuff and my 2 minor gripes, the fight animation is genuinely well done. Music is amazing too. If not for the things I mentioned, I genuinely would have this episode as a 10/10 and my new favorite. So for my opinion, the score I gave is perfectly accurate
26:17 Discord is a very sparsely used character so there's not too much you'd need to watch relative to GF His redemption arc from villainy lasts about 5 episodes S2 premiere, S3E10, and S4 finale You'll learn bit more about Discord as a perso-uh... I mean draconequus in S5E7, S6E17 & finale, S7E12, S8E14 (This one's a fav solely for the DBZ elements.). Outside of that he causes some mischief in other episodes afterwards like S4 premiere and E11 of the same season, S5E22, S7 premiere, S8E10 Season 9 gives Discord the most active role in the series. So you might arguably better watching the whole 26 episodes. But if you only want the episodes that include Discord or characters are key to his arc in that season. Then S9 premiere, S9E8, S9E17, And the last 3 episodes of the series I don't know jack about comics outside of some of the ones he's in Issue #24 #37 #57 #75-78 are some highlights I feel like #48-50 is 100% going to be in the episode Preferably don't check the wiki too much if you wanna dodge spoilers. Hope that helps.
Season 10 Ranking 1. Stitch vs Rocket Raccoon 2.Guts Vs Dimitri 3.Ant man vs The Atom 4.Darth Vader vs Obito Uchiha 5. Phoenix vs Raven 6. Dark Souls vs Skyrim/Chosen Undead vs Last Dragonborn 7. Killua VS Misaka
I'm not a fan of this episode especially as a FE fan. They gave Dimitri magic access at no cost even though one high lord is not a class with magic access and even if he had magic he is one of the worst magic units with terrible stats for it making it so it wouldn't do much of anything against Guts. Thunder magic is also never shown to be especially effective against metal armor. He's also not that durable given normal humans like Ignutz still can easily deal with him with things like hunter's volley. That either means Dimitri isn't actually that impressive or FE is actually a universe of super humans which I do not accept.
You could kind of say that this is the first episode since Koopa vs Goomba or Willy vs Eggman where both fighters die, let's be honest, Dimitri even if stronger than Guts, had no chance against the Zodd and Griffith demons, specially after having his weapon destroyed and being beat up in the fight of his life, so he obviously died off-screen.
also they wanked dimitri with feats he never displayed, also you do realize ingame feats are not canon since horses and villagers can also dodge light spells even tho canon wise they can't. Those are not canon just used for gameplay random variety. Also the javelin of light has nothing to do with dimitri, he can;t tank one nor two, he almsost died from a dagger from fleche
this episode was mediocre. Kinda funny hwo you cnosider this one the best of the season lmao/ Also the analysis was awful, but hey you are a fire emblem fanboy so yeah

This is definitely one of the best Death Battle of the seasons, though I will admit I think Bill Cipher vs Discord has a pretty good chance to beat it for me.

MLP/Transformers issue 3
MLP Manga vol 1 Ch 8 and Volume 3.c
Also fun fact in a MLP card game its implied DIscord got the ponies to fight Bill Cipher. Fun connection there.
I picked a Dimitri vs Thor Battle in their requests but this, still yes
Coming over from Biff's video, and I think I'm gonna jusy copy my comment from that one here:
"As an FE fan, I adored this episode for itself but also for the absolutely hilarious crapshow that was the FE fandom leading up to and post the battle, with everyone yelling about how dimitri should have lost.
Which means that yes, Dimitri could have used the broken Aredbhar head to defend himself there even according to the FE rules.)
The dual 'breakdown' moment is another stand-out emotional moment, even if it isn't as much .
Wolves for life."
As for a few things specific to you, 10/10 and it being the new top episode of the season are SUPER relatable.
Theres a reason my friend grouos jokes 3 houses ripped off The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel.)
I saw that Lucina hint there. I really want her in as well, though I won't lie, I'm slightly concerned about her chosen opponent, especially if they go with Grovyle. Pokemon are BUSTED, and that one particularly likely is more than most.
Personally I'd love to see Edelgard vs Azula from Avatar.
cringe af
The issue is that if we look at game stats that means literal normal humans can reach things like nuke level damage with silver weapons because Rhea only has 16 Def on CF endgame.
a based cultured fire emblem enjoyer, I see
For a discord episode that doesn’t have many plot spoilers and might play into your likes I recommend Season 6 Episode 17 Dungeons and Discords or if you want an episode that introduces discord season 2 episodes 1 & 2 or the one that changes his heart watch Season 3 episode 10
(Also also, they could've just replaced Awakening Mode with Dimitri tapping into his crest and it would work just as well while being 3H accurate)
The analysis has a similar instance when presenting the scaling and compositing.
Really? I feel like if you're mixed on it the score would it be a lot lower. Feels like you enjoyed it more than you're letting on.

Discord is a very sparsely used character so there's not too much you'd need to watch relative to GF
His redemption arc from villainy lasts about 5 episodes
S2 premiere, S3E10, and S4 finale
You'll learn bit more about Discord as a perso-uh... I mean draconequus in S5E7, S6E17 & finale, S7E12, S8E14 (This one's a fav solely for the DBZ elements.).
Outside of that he causes some mischief in other episodes afterwards like S4 premiere and E11 of the same season, S5E22, S7 premiere, S8E10
Season 9 gives Discord the most active role in the series. So you might arguably better watching the whole 26 episodes.
But if you only want the episodes that include Discord or characters are key to his arc in that season.
Then S9 premiere, S9E8, S9E17, And the last 3 episodes of the series
I don't know jack about comics outside of some of the ones he's in
Issue #24 #37 #57 #75-78 are some highlights
I feel like #48-50 is 100% going to be in the episode
Preferably don't check the wiki too much if you wanna dodge spoilers.
Hope that helps.
Season 10 Ranking
1. Stitch vs Rocket Raccoon
2.Guts Vs Dimitri
3.Ant man vs The Atom
4.Darth Vader vs Obito Uchiha
5. Phoenix vs Raven
6. Dark Souls vs Skyrim/Chosen Undead vs Last Dragonborn
7. Killua VS Misaka
Fire Emblem ratios me, story of my life 😔 (but it was a good episode so i cant be mad lol)
Honestly outside the death and track I genuinely still don’t get the hype for this episode
Also Rhea at CF endgame only has 16 Def so if we're using that as nuke levels of durability, silver weapons are near or even nuke levels of power
Burt Gummer moment
: )
You could kind of say that this is the first episode since Koopa vs Goomba or Willy vs Eggman where both fighters die, let's be honest, Dimitri even if stronger than Guts, had no chance against the Zodd and Griffith demons, specially after having his weapon destroyed and being beat up in the fight of his life, so he obviously died off-screen.
Don't worry after the fight he gains Fire Emblem Heroes scaling and demolishes them lol
It'd be likely that the blue lions and byleth show up afterwards. Boom.
well bring guts from shin megami tensei to make it fair@@Hebleh
the rest of the blue lions can't even beat zodd, so they can't do anything@@do-re-mi-fabeat4449
also they wanked dimitri with feats he never displayed, also you do realize ingame feats are not canon since horses and villagers can also dodge light spells even tho canon wise they can't.
Damn the salt is unreal
🤓says you nerd
My guy just basically ratiod my entire video via just being better
And I could not be happier fantastic review this will go down as one of the best in db history
