  • Javali - A Javali in a bharatnatyam repertoire (Margam) is pure ABHINAYA piece, comparatively complex in nature and is presented in a Margam to show a dancer's expertise in the nuances and hold on abhinaya. it is characterised by fast tempo, showing quick changes of emotions of the character/characters . The character of a javali demonstrates the love for the beloved in a very colloquial tone, representing familiar, ordinary human emotions.
Performance - This javali is on Lord Shiva of Thiruppanandal in Tamil Nadu. in this javali, the character is a heroine/Mughdha nayika (the nayika, who is inexperienced in the matters of love...), who innocently and easily gets affected by the gossip and rumours her friends and other people are spreading about her relationship with the Nayaka (who is the Lord Himself). She explains to her Sakhi/friend what all she did in her spontaneous innocent interactions with the Nayaka, which (according to her) has been misinterpreted by others, and now she is getting bothered by what others are saying about her! She says, that she did very normal things with the Nayaka as a friend, but people are blowing out of proportions about it! She was too naive to understand the obvious consequences that has resulted in dealing with the Nayaka in the past. She expresses her disappointment to her Sakhi about the confusion caused by her own action, and seeks her sympathy and support to justify her frivolous act of following her heart for the Lord.
