Dear David, because of you and this starter set, I was able to get my best friend to start playing Pendragon with me. You sir, are the best. Thank you a million times over.
As I see David showing up doing more and more Pendragon news all I can think is finally, the Esoteric Order is going to do another Great Pendragon Campaign again
Why no character creation rules? Why pregen knights from a gazillion cultures? Pendragon needs to start small and start local and then allow the world to become wider and weirder (like a fairytale). I have played this game since 1988 and this is the first release that has truly disappointed me. I don't feel this starter set captures the feel of Pendragon at all. Really wish Greg's name wasn't on it.
Because it’s not the Core Rule Book. You’re free to keep your own version of the game as bland as you’d like. No one stopping you from running the same game you’ve been playing since 1988.
The answer to the first question is that it is a Starter set, not a core rules book. The answer to the second question is more complex but understandably to encourage a more diverse core audience than simply catering for white males. People’s attitudes may vary to that call, but Arthurian tales have always shifted to represent the cultures of their time - 2023 is no different - and Knights can travel from anywhere in the setting as per canon. I agree that the game should start small and develop a wider and wider reach as the campaign progresses, but I don’t agree that this set in anyway compromises that.
@@thepsion2827 With you on this. Identity politics has entered TTRPG's because 1.) everyone else is doing it 2.) they need the money just like any other corporation that has rainbow flags draped everywhere. I don't understand how a role player needs to see him/herself represented in a game. It's role playing : imagine yourself as someone else is central theme surely ? If I was playing in a African fantasy RPG, & I'd like to see this, I wouldn't expect to see loads of white people & if I did, I wouldn't take offence or bitch about it on social media. That would break immersion for me. Presumably it would be racist if white folks were portrayed in fantasy Nigeria? Obviously not the other way around though; what's wrong with setting purity? "oh but it's just a game" comes the cry
The reason why the Pendragon Starter Set has Greg's name on it ***is because he wrote it***. Character creation features in the forthcoming core rules.
All of Chaosium's recent output indicates that it has become ideologically captured, just like practically every other company and institution in the West. I'm interested in some of their new stuff but would have to adapt it to erase "the message".

heck yeah! congratulations!
Dear Chaosium..... I love you....AND your shipping department.
Thanks for the video. Surely the best Arthurian movie is Excalibur still? Also, I fully intend to make my Pendragon games grim dark in the telling.
I was very surprised this one wasn't mentioned, especially after Nocol Williamson was mentioned.
Congrats on the release!

I'm from Spain, I've been playing chaosium games since 1993 and it always has been my favourite ttrpg company ❤
The question not asked that I would like answered is: what’s different in the version from previous editions? What is it’s KSP?
David - have you read the Bernard Cornwell Arthurian series? Curious what thought if you did. Thanks!
Are you planning to release an official Foundry VTT module for Pendragon 6th?
I am doing the new solo in 6th. On section 19 I rolled a tie with the boar. Not sure what to do 😅
Why didn't you list Excalibur among the best Arthur movies, that was awesome
Too many white people, prolly

Get over yourself, put away the tinfoil and go out and touch some grass. 😂
