Destiny doesn't have an mv but the Queendom performance, which won the final round and the overall competition for Mamamoo, is safe to react to.

I 100% agree with you about the cutesy/aegyo girl group culture!! MAMAMOO, (G)I-DLE and Dreamcatcher are three groups that I would recommend that have more mature concepts and are not super oriented to the "male gaze". All three groups have insane rappers and vocals as well as fun personalities and strong woman vibes. Some specific songs you could start with for I-DLE and DC are "Tomboy", "NXDE", and "LION" for I-DLE; "Scream/Boca/Odd Eye" [The Dystopia Trilogy] for Dreamcatcher. Just a suggestion, no pressure at all! I actually started with MAMAMOO and went down the rabbit hole from there hahaha

Welcome to Mamamoo world.., they are very different from other groups, at the beginning they didn't had any money, budget, choreographer, stylist or things like that, so, they are considered a self made group and therefore they have what no other groups has.. creative freedom. They own the stage & it's quite better to see them live. You can expect pop, jazz, ballads and even r&b styles
For me musical performances are about the music and for singers their vocals. My top for KPOP girl groups are 2NE1, Mamamoo and SNSD. They all have awesome vocals and harmonies but are not the same. Each has their own character. 2NE1 and Mamamoo maintain the performers individuality while merging into the group's character. As a much larger group SNSD has differences in style. Anyway, killing voice is great, but it is a gateway drug to the rest of their discography. Mamamoo live with a band is the ultimate experience with them. We are still hoping they will return with more songs one day soon. For now we just get their solo work and mamamoo+ the subunit.

No offense to Black PInk fans but MAmamoo are much better artists, singers etc. They are not as famous due to the smaller ageny and the fact they dont do the bubblegum kpop. But when it comes to stage presence and vocal power they are some of the best

Mamamoo are not cutesy in any way. They’re confident women who are not afraid to express their artistry and go against K-pop industry standards. As a man, I find that so much more attractive than any girly bubble gum conformists.
There are two very good and funny rap songs. One is called 1cm and it’s a diss song about their height There is an MV. I’d highly recommend one with English subs. The other is called Sleep in the Car and it’s a crazy song they wrote about their lack of sleep when having to go to make MVs, do performances, etc. I don’t think that there is an official MV. There s a really good one other performing it very close up without subs but you won’t have any context what it means. It might be better to first react to the lyrics version then do that one. It really shows a great side of them. Aze Gag is a MV of Korean dad jokes that has absolutely no meaningful translation. Cute song but not really worth reacting to so soon.
Oh I think I will also add check out an oldie from theirs called Girl Crush too. Great MV in an odd format. Great rap but not from all of them. Very funny too.

Egotistic is the best way to realize they aren't your regular girl group. They came here with boss bitch energy. Interesting that in the first video I watched from you I said: Mamamoo is not a girl group, it's a women group. So I come here to say it again. I think that's why I'm such a big fan, they differ so much from the standard girl group in every way: music, visuals, voices, concepts, and matureness. They are the standard, you will not find any group as good as them. Unfortunately, they don't include so many raps in their songs, Moonbyul always has less lines. If you like rap type songs I recommend listening to: sleep in the car, taller than you, diamond. You should totally check Moonbyul's solo work: Eclipse, Dark Romance, Moon Movie, if you tend to prefer boy groups, these songs will be perfect for you.

I agree with you! 2 main reasons why I don't like KPOP girl groups are 1) adult women trying to look like (as you mentioned) 5 year olds, and 2) 5 year olds trying to look like adultsw (realistically 13-17 year olds, but still, you know what I mean..) MAMAMOO is the first (and only) KPOP group that I'll listen to for their whole discography, even every members' solo songs and unit songs. They really do have gorgeous vocals, and their song lyrics are really beautiful and inspirational (not at all those other GG song where they put down others as a way to portrait strong women, but MAMAMOO's songs are inspirational to women because they encourage self-love and self-confidence)

I'm exactly like you! I can't stand the bubblegum poppy cutesy songs. It's part of why I avoided k-pop for a long time, cause all I had really seen of k-pop girl groups was the very baby-pop stuff. I don't enjoy it firstly from a sound perspective, it's just really not a sound or genre that I enjoy or relate to. I accepted it at first cause I realize a large amount of k-pop fans are teens. So I know outwardly that's who those songs cater to. But like you I eventually realize how sick that industry can be, and just knowing that it's getting peddled to satisfy pedophiles is just far too disturbing. I just can't see those kinds of songs the same anymore knowing who's watching it. I got into Blackpink first, just because like most new kpop fans they were one of the first groups to really hit my radar. I really only listened to them for over a year and was kind of afraid to branch out to other groups cause it seemed like they all were cutesy. But over the years I've found quite a few gg that deviate from that sound. I think this is also a good time for you to explore girl groups cause over the last few years I've seen a lot more girl groups break out of that mold and do more intriguing sounds and concepts. I really enjoy dark themes and I've notices a spike in girl groups that put out darker toned albums and stuff. Having said that, I still don't listen to much else besides Mamamoo. Not because there aren't other groups worth listening to, but because Mamamoo has set the bar so high that I just find myself wanting to listen to their music more than any others. And I'm sure you can see why. Also, not sure if anyone else already mentioned, but you did see the other girls at the end of Hwasa's Maria MV, so that may be where you saw Solar (the blonde) from.
You have some misconceptions about girl groups in general it seems.. There are plenty who aren't like you described. There were a couple of other comments that pointed this out and it felt like you completely ignored their points.. Is there any reason why you're so insistent on putting all girl groups in the same category? There are a lot more variety in girl groups than there are in boy groups when it comes to kpop.. I feel like there's some hypocrisy here (and some internalized misogyny probably?). Just try to consider why you feel the way that you do, And why (even tho several people have said otherwise) that you are convinced 99% of kpop girl groups are "cutesy" and "infantilizing"..
I will keep my own opinion about my beliefs and likes. I also had many that understand me and are with me in this. When I see girls in their 20’s dressed in short school skits acting cutesy and all singing with a hight pitch, that is not for me. I do not like that. I like strong voices, rappers, darker concepts. This is my personal preference. I can give any group a chance, but I want people that watch to know what I like in order to recommend me more songs and groups that qualify. I cannot personally take a song sang in a high pitch as it’s scratching my ears, this is why I prefer men voices and lower register voices. And rap, I need rap from both boy and girl groups.

There are two very good and funny rap songs. One is called 1cm and it’s a diss song about their height There is an MV. I’d highly recommend one with English subs. The other is called Sleep in the Car and it’s a crazy song they wrote about their lack of sleep when having to go to make MVs, do performances, etc. I don’t think that there is an official MV. There s a really good one other performing it very close up without subs but you won’t have any context what it means. It might be better to first react to the lyrics version then do that one. It really shows a great side of them. Aze Gag is a MV of Korean dad jokes that has absolutely no meaningful translation. Cute song but not really worth reacting to so soon.
Oh I think I will also add check out an oldie from theirs called Girl Crush too. Great MV in an odd format. Great rap but not from all of them. Very funny too.
You didn't see it in this video but Solar has actually pole danced live more than once, usually as some kind of intro or intermission. I don't think you can post those on YT though so it's something to watch personally.

Mamamoo is different, so much more my style. But most songs that I heard from other Kpop Girl Groups are too much into the cute vibes with which I do not agree for very special reasons. Asian women are very much a fetish (unfortunately) and making them look and sound like 5 year olds is very much wrong. I want to see strong powerful women, not damsel in distress. Interesting that in the first video I watched from you I said: Mamamoo is not a girl group, it's a women group. So I come here to say it again. I think that's why I'm such a big fan, they differ so much from the standard girl group in every way: music, visuals, voices, concepts, and matureness. They are the standard, you will not find any group as good as them.
Unfortunately, they don't include so many raps in their songs, Moonbyul always has less lines.
If you like rap type songs I recommend listening to: sleep in the car, taller than you, diamond.
You should totally check Moonbyul's solo work: Eclipse, Dark Romance, Moon Movie, if you tend to prefer boy groups, these songs will be perfect for you.

I agree with you! 2 main reasons why I don't like KPOP girl groups are 1) adult women trying to look like (as you mentioned) 5 year olds, and 2) 5 year olds trying to look like adultsw (realistically 13-17 year olds, but still, you know what I mean..)
MAMAMOO is the first (and only) KPOP group that I'll listen to for their whole discography, even every members' solo songs and unit songs. They really do have gorgeous vocals, and their song lyrics are really beautiful and inspirational (not at all those other GG song where they put down others as a way to portrait strong women, but MAMAMOO's songs are inspirational to women because they encourage self-love and self-confidence)

I'm exactly like you! I can't stand the bubblegum poppy cutesy songs. It's part of why I avoided k-pop for a long time, cause all I had really seen of k-pop girl groups was the very baby-pop stuff. I don't enjoy it firstly from a sound perspective, it's just really not a sound or genre that I enjoy or relate to. I accepted it at first cause I realize a large amount of k-pop fans are teens. So I know outwardly that's who those songs cater to. But like you I eventually realize how sick that industry can be, and just knowing that it's getting peddled to satisfy pedophiles is just far too disturbing. I just can't see those kinds of songs the same anymore knowing who's watching it.
I got into Blackpink first, just because like most new kpop fans they were one of the first groups to really hit my radar. I really only listened to them for over a year and was kind of afraid to branch out to other groups cause it seemed like they all were cutesy. But over the years I've found quite a few gg that deviate from that sound. I think this is also a good time for you to explore girl groups cause over the last few years I've seen a lot more girl groups break out of that mold and do more intriguing sounds and concepts. I really enjoy dark themes and I've notices a spike in girl groups that put out darker toned albums and stuff.
Having said that, I still don't listen to much else besides Mamamoo. Not because there aren't other groups worth listening to, but because Mamamoo has set the bar so high that I just find myself wanting to listen to their music more than any others. And I'm sure you can see why.
Also, not sure if anyone else already mentioned, but you did see the other girls at the end of Hwasa's Maria MV, so that may be where you saw Solar (the blonde) from.

You have some misconceptions about girl groups in general it seems.. There are plenty who aren't like you described.
There were a couple of other comments that pointed this out and it felt like you completely ignored their points.. Is there any reason why you're so insistent on putting all girl groups in the same category?
There are a lot more variety in girl groups than there are in boy groups when it comes to kpop.. I feel like there's some hypocrisy here (and some internalized misogyny probably?). Just try to consider why you feel the way that you do, And why (even tho several people have said otherwise) that you are convinced 99% of kpop girl groups are "cutesy" and "infantilizing"..
I will keep my own opinion about my beliefs and likes. I also had many that understand me and are with me in this. When I see girls in their 20’s dressed in short school skits acting cutesy and all singing with a hight pitch, that is not for me. I do not like that. I like strong voices, rappers, darker concepts. This is my personal preference. I can give any group a chance, but I want people that watch to know what I like in order to recommend me more songs and groups that qualify. I cannot personally take a song sang in a high pitch as it’s scratching my ears, this is why I prefer men voices and lower register voices. And rap, I need rap from both boy and girl groups.
