Yes! Riding in a group can be quite challenging! But so much fun on the right horse! My 21-year-old Arabian has just recently learned how to be slightly controlled while while riding in a group ! Lol
I hear you Charlotte! My loan horse is the same! Very excitable, won't stand at the box or on it, whinnying, stamping his feet. When I get on he just wants to go 🙈🤣 bucks when we canter 😅 but... We keep doing theses things don't we? As we ❤ them! I'm 💯 certain it will improve over time! Lots of love n keep doing what you're doing Xxx
@@AimeeandApollo thankyou, I hate feeling stressed out as I do like to just enjoy my riding. We will see if we can find another fun ride or something and build up slowly x
Charlotte, Sorry to post later than normal. I have lost count on how many ponies & horses I have hacked and all the escapades. Many years ago, I did my one & only Foxhunt/ pre foxhunt season on a true & trusted hunt horse who had fallen out of love with hunting. THANK GOODNESS for hip flasks with something strong on it!!!! I don't like riding & drinking! But this gave me some Dutch courage. It was just supposed to be the owner of the horse and his other horse, but everyone joined in. Dragon didn't like it plus I ride with my especially long legs Dressage discipline (well I trained in it). Got creamed on that! I did it & survived and did finish off the flask as the only option afterwards was beer that I loathe! Thought Donny did OK, just needs some more outings like that. Personally, ask Justine to ride in the front next time. I don't think he likes being in the back and will fight his way to the front. It's all OK and he needs to feel comfortable, and you don't need to be bucked left right & center. Hugs!
I think you are in a bit of a catch 22 situation. Don't go again, and he won't get used to other horses, go again and get yourself, and him worked up! In my humble opinion, the only way to reach a more fun experience is to take a deep breath and go again. He will get used to it in time. Naybe a smaller group for a while. Loved your honesty. Best wishes.
I gave up "fun" rides 35 years ago after a particularly ghastly one with pony club. I think to enjoy them one needs a rda horse or rocking horse, anything else gets it's mind blown. I've always had British riding ponies or thoroughbreds and they just don't seem to take the chaos esp as there is always one tw*t who will gallop off without warning and upset everyone

Yikes! Hard to expose these youngsters and get the experience when they can’t relax or learn. Stay safe! ❤❤❤
I also get stressed sometimes. It's also about horse safety. Our stress just means that we care.
