At the 2:03 mark when Alice hits the higher pitch at 'smile' and Simon looks up, you know he just heard something special and it got his attention. My God she can SING! Magnificent.

There’s nothing more impressive to me then a singer that has never received validation for a reallly really rare gift , and to finally get that validation on live tv , is insanely fun for me to watch !

Amazing Alice was just turned down by the voice, but I bet it was that heartbreak that put her whole heart into this performance, she put so much into this and it grabbed so many hearts, absolutely love her.

Alice, the first singer, brought a few tears to my eyes. She is gorgeous, has a golden voice (like they said), and is refreshingly humble. I thought I was watching a movie.

That night has not been repeated, it was incredible how she sang. And I think no one has sung that song like Alice Fredenham in that BGT audition, it was April 2013, there were 7 days left until my birthday and I hallucinated that TV had given me a muse as a gift, wherever Alice is I still dream when I remember her voice. Haha, so not true! Some of the best stars are arrogant but they can act or sing phenomenally. And people may start out kind and humble but then fame and money change them.
It’s because she was on the voice first and didn’t make it. But the show delayed airing till after this. Made it look like she didn’t have stage fright. Was a big thing. She was so scared and nervous from what happened on the voice and people took it as she was faking it. But if I was denied on voice and went to agt I would want to go alone and would be scared poopless.

Carmen I agree with you on this. Singing from a night club in the 20s and 30s late at night around 2am or 3am is a perfect time to sing these types of songs. In her quarter finals and semi finals she did just that, singing songs in this era.

Kevin singing If Tomorrow Never Comes after being basically laughed at, was easily the most emotional, powerful and beautiful performances I have ever seen. The man sang from deep inside his heart. Listen to all the other artists who have sung this song including Garth Brooks, and what is missing is the emotional power this man put into that song. Just look at how moved and captivated the audience was listening to him sing that song.

I was disgusted by the judges attitude. David Hasselhoff was decent but the other two were disgusting.
Never tire of watching Kevin Skinner's audition and especially love to see he taught the judges AND the audience to NEVER judge a book by it's cover.

As a jazz singer, i loved Alice. She has a jazz singer voice. Likes of Billie holiday and ella Fitzgerald. I hope she continues singing jazz I would go and see her perform any where.

Those judges were way wrong. And they didn't want to even consider his talent because they should have listened to the crowd that loved him!
PS: speaking about Alice:
In front of an audience of hundreds of people, you just know everyone knows there is something truly special and genuine about a performance that makes it so nobody makes a sound for minutes on end and then when the performance ends it's overwhelmingly loud. This is up there amongst the best performances ever seen - time stopped whilst she was performing. Absolutely captivating. This is the definition of "world class" indeed, imho.
Actually the "silence in the audience" thing is a pattern in all this, right? Lovely heartfelt stuff, imho. Even Simon said it. I remember as a child in my own little local community - this is not in the US (if you can believe such things to be possible) there was a girl one time who sang a traditional fado Portuguese song, I was like 8y old I kind of did not understand all the meaning and the words of it, but now I'm 39 and I know I never forgot about it...
These performances are like that.
And now she’s gone from that dirty business. People listen to complete rubbish 😢

I only got to see Owen Campbell's audition in 2020. I hope he's gone on to do better and maybe the judges also had a reflection about how they could have done better.

Alice was AWESOME!!! She selected the PERFECT SONG to showcase her voice. Even though she was quite nervous and very casually dressed, her rendition of Funny Valentine transported the audience back to the era of sultry singers like Billy Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James, etc. The only thing missing was a long, sequined, slinky dress, with a flower in her hair. 🎹🎼🎵🎶😘

Owen has genuine musical talent and sings with a lot of soul. Being constantly berated by arrogant judges for three minutes in front of the world was inappropriate and demeaning to a guy who survives around the world with his talent. Real talent.

Bombed on "The Voice UK", more like it. Bad song choice, even worse outfit.
When she appeared on The Voice UK she came in full of piss and vinegar, self-confidence (or fake self-confidence) radiated out of her. Her singing wasn't bad but not nearly as inspired as this performance. Anyway, as mentioned no one turned and I think her confidence tanked for awhile. Her next performance she didn't seem quite so demure.

Watching that look between Isaac Waddington's parents is so adorable. It feels so good when our babies (who only stay little for about a minute) succeed. Just about every parent can understand that look of pure love and pride.
