I had a match where someone told me to throw my plane into the water. Ended up getting 8 kills in it before i ran outta ammo and a j20 finished my fairly shot up plane off. That j20 proceeded to get baited into following a plane to its airfield. Lmao
Always loved the KI-45, if only for the fact the Japanese named it "Toryu" (屠龍), which literally translates to "Dragonslayer". Pretty fitting, considering the idea was to shoot down the firebombing, B-29 Superfortresses
Really need to try the J1N1 again. More or less ground through it so quickly it never really made an impression but it looks fun. Need to try the heavy fighters again, although it can be truly painful at times. Great stuff.
The J1N1 is one of my favorites the 4x .30cal do some damage. If you use mec, be careful, you can overrev/overheat the engines in a steep dive. On automatic they overheat rapidly in a dive, as the propeller blades can't adjust far enough.
A maxed out J1N1 makes for great fun on a low tier lineup. Those turrets on the back are very fierce, and unlike a lot of the other early heavies, the gunners have a decent amount of protection, so you won’t get a tryhard in an I-16 sniping them the moment you get within targeting range.
I havent played them all extensively but i had a lot of fun in air rb with the ki-45 otsu and the ki-109 was especially rewarding in air, im glad they fixed its rear turret which was completely broken for a month or so until recently

That depends, I can give you a general idea and then you can decide. Ki45(20mm or 12.7mm): good ammo count but lacks in the defensive. J1N1:Low 20mm ammo, best defensive armament. Ki102: excellent low altitude speed and climb, 20mm have good damage output...57mm is hard to aim though. Bad high alt. performance. Ki108: 37mm and 20mm have similar velocity and the plane is decently fast and durable.
My reasoning on it is that I find those planes meta in some aspects (high velocity 30mm and excellent climb and speed). The lower Japanese heavy fighters do not posses most of the aspects mentioned above (I also like used them ~1br above their rated br).
This is sarcasm right? Practice makes perfect. Switching controls to realistic also helps, as it prevents the aircraft from returning to your original orientation.
