My work experience in 'business casual' work environment taught me that... if you are good at what you do and people know it(especially your boss), you can get away with wearing a tee shirt under a blazer or a denim shirt once in a while. Plus, that's a major power move to your coworkers. "Yeah I wore a tee shirt to work but my boss didn't say a thing"
This is awesome, Tim Love the fact that you're playing on the casual side with your 'smart' personal approach, but still can nail business look and create that good type of videos for your subscribers!
Damn brother- you weren't lying when you said you snagged a suit from suitsupply! Looks really sharp. I see most mens fashion running with suits way too tight- while you have it in a clean slim cut. Respect
Great video! I love it. After watching so many of your videos, I feel like I need to explore turtlenecks more... As a follow up to this video, other ideas I would love to watch: A) Business casual options without the jacket and ways to accessorize B) How to appropriately match different suit jacket and trouser colors/combinations. I always feel uncertain when I try some that don't perfectly match C) Differences of sports jackets, blazers, and suit jackets - when they're appropriate and how/when to mix/match, dress up/down
Best Tip I have, get your trousers tailored and cut above the ankle... its so modern and fresh its the thing for hopefully a long time to come... love it
Impressive....for me since I am old school in my attire shirt tie and jacket.....what you displayed is just right for casual Friday......wonderful advice......keep it up and don't stop....enjoy the weekend..PEACE and love to all
I am watching this vid again Tim! Because your day 1 subscriber just graduated from college and is about to start my first job next week, hopefully I can carry my confidence with what I'll wear on my first day
You've nailed every video I've watched. Definitely one of my favourite channels and "stylists". I'd go for a single breasted jacket personally, which suits my build better. Great job with the KF bags too.
Can’t skip ads for this fine vid 👌🏽 Thanks for putting out awesome and functional vids all the time, Tim. Will wait for more. I got another question (request/ video idea) what clothing combos are a big NO for you? (e.g. for me, it would be dress shoes + denim pants). And do you have any suggestions on how to re-style them?
Thank you Joseph! 😊 There are very few hard-no's for me, but I'm pretty open-minded. That would be a good video idea though, thank you for the suggestion!
finally a proper video on business casual. that term always confuses me so when i had my internship, i struggled so much with what to wear. thanks man! and also, i hope this isn't too much to ask for but can you do a video on socks? i've received a bunch of different colour socks as gifts (e.g. mustard yellow, dark red, olive green) and i wanna wear them but i don't know how to match them with my outfits. maybe this could also be a video on colour scheme.
Ehh another vid another beautiful and great day Great video as always brother feels like every time you post a video my fashion knowledge and my confidence grows
Tim, would you do a video of outfit ideas for the traditional workplace? Im a lawyer and sometimes i feel that im just changing my black, blue and gray suits and my brown and black shoes everyday, with 0 new ideas. You could show us how to keep sharp in theses environments too.
I assume you're required to be in a suit and tie everyday? The main areas I would focus on if those are the requirements are: shirt color, shirt collar style, pocket square, suit cut (single breasted, double breasted, peak/notch lapels), suit separates and shoes (derbies, brogues, chelsea boots, double monks, single monk, potentially loafers). There's a lot that you can play around with with those different elements to bring some fun into your office wardrobe 🙂
Dress shirt, slacks/chinos, derbys. That’s basically what most places consider business casual. The three major companies I’ve worked at required a collared shirt and specifically disallowed jeans.
For the suit supply suit did you go in person to get that done or order online? Also what’s the material, if you remember, on the suit? I have a single breasted navy blue suit I’ve had for a few years now and it’s become tight/small on me, so I want to go out in the next few months and buy a new one. I’ve been very interested in the double breasted style. I’ve got a grey peacoat in the double breasted style I wear religiously in the winter time that I love, so I’m use to the look. I’m a short and skinny 5’5 guy and I’m worried that the suit look won’t look good on me, but from watching this video it seems that having the right tailor for the suit accustomed to the wearer’s body is key to making any suit look perfect.
can i try these with chalk stripe wool suit jacket ....??? like people usually say you don't wear suit jackets seperately specially the wool one's and I'm little sceptical too would love to hear from you ❤️❤️
Thank you Bernardo! I'm not too sure about good, cheaper alternatives for the wool trousers. I'm sure there are some, just can't speak from experience as these are my only pair of wool trousers.
Tim how do you feel about cuffing your jeans for biz casual. Looks like you went with the cuffed look, but do you think it makes the outfit look too casual?
That depends on the rest of the outfit. In the example shown in the video, I'm wearing sneakers and a turtleneck with the jeans, which makes it inherently more casual anyways so I think the cuff works in this instance. I'd like to give you a straight answer but the truth is that it really depends on the specific outfit you're trying to pull off. Both can work (cuffed or uncuffed).
I'm confused, do black and navy work together ? Like the navy suit on the black leather shoes, they seem to harmonize but I just feel it's wrong to wear those two colors together, maybe because I was always told so
I have an interring situation at work. I am at a writing institute as a researcher and it’s super casual there. I talked with some of the older folks and they said it used to be quite formal back in the day, but today it’s pretty much jeans and polos for men. I want to dress it up a bit more, but the few times I’ve wore something as simple as a tie and dress shirt, I have attracted quite a bit of attention (either good or bad). I’m thinking that my next move for fall drip is the jeans and jacket combo that was towards the end of the video. Unfortunately, in Texas it’s hard to wear a jacket in any of the summer months. Now getting into fall, I’mma be dressing on these mfs at work.
Hi Tim, could you make an office attire video for people working in tech industry (e.g. google, facebook, etc) where most people won’t be wearing suits and appear more casual, but how do you differentiate yourself from others?
Do you have a dress code at all or can you dress however you want? Because I feel like that would fall more in the territory of finding your personal style and improving your style in general more so than specific office attire (since it's so casual).
@@TimDessaint No dresscode, just casual wear, Tshirt is ok but I haven't seen anyone wearing shorts or sandals haha. How do I differentiate and appear to be more fashionable than others? Any tips?
Tbh I'd like to dress like this 24/7 but I'm still in college and our country's always freaking hot so wearing 2 pieces of top garment would just make you a walking swimming pool of sweat 😂 but nonetheless I'd be doing it someday, great vid as always 👌
I can imagine! And there is a time and place for wearing a suit too. I can see how you'd be overdressed in most colleges. But hey I don't have to wear a suit for work but when I go out and feeling it I'll wear one just for fun 🙂
All the style that you show looks great. But it will not really be suitable to wear for hot weather or seasons. Please do a business casual look for summer or hot weather look. thank you.
Haha that can also be seen as an advantage! To be honest I'd rather not have to wear a suit, but still rock one when I want to just for the fun of it 😊 Glad you enjoyed the video man!
Me, a student who don’t have a job, watching how to style my outfit business-ly
Knowing how to wear a suit always comes in handy 🙂

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊
I would melt if I saw somebody dressed THAT good looking at me. Great outfits, great style and bravo for showing why minimalism is important!
You are like the most informative, subtle and organized fashion/style tips content creator out there, at least with what i've seen.
Thank you so much Mattias! I appreciate it!
I was like “is this suit supply”? And you said it

I never lie haha! I definitely prefer my suits to be more slim or even regular than skinny.
I love watching you talking about clothes. It makes so much sense.
Glad you're enjoying the content Katrin! 😊
I'm also a really big fan of the double monk straps but in my opinion you can't see the true beauty of the shoes in black
