Put the items in the zip lock bag, slide the zipper almost all the way closed, insert a drinking straw in the opening and press the zipper as close to the straw as possible and then proceed to suck the air out. The system of soaking in a gallon of water and cup of vinegar would work for all your produce. I usually fill up my sink with water and add a cup of vinegar let it set about 20 minutes. Remove from the water let it air dry and store in a ziplock in fridge. Your tomatoes, grapes, lettuce, cucumbers and so on. It’s pretty amazing that how much longer your produce will last in your fridge

I used aluminum foil and wrap my fruits and veggies before storing them in the fridge/veggies drawers they will last up to 3-4weeks crisp and fresh. The aluminum foil traps the ethylene gas that releases from the produce and it will slow down the ripening process.

If you don't have a vacuum to suck out the air, do the following: Put the items inside the plastic zip lock bag. Submerge about one-fourth of the bag in water to displace some of the air. Partially seal the bag but leave a tiny opening just small enough to insert a drinking straw. With your mouth, suck out the excess air through the straw then carefully fully zip the bag closed.

I always soak my fruit and veggies tried the baking soda method eh didn’t notice a difference in freshness/lasting but will try the vinegar. Does it matter if u put other fruits and veggies w it keep them as well. Think the object is clean and dry storage. Love that Walmart has vacuum packed veggies. Still have bag green onions I bought weeks ago still green and crisp! Great video.Thank you!

So, using method #2, do you have to keep your vacuum near the refrigerator each time you want a lime/lemon to reseal the bag? Why not use more smaller bags, say 6 to 8 limes per bag?

Vinegar is a natural antimicrobial so it will work with any produce/fruit product. Been using it for years and you don't have to let the lemons/limes sit for 30 minutes. 5 minutes will be enough to kill the bacteria.

Thank you for that lengthy demonstration on how to put things in a bag. I will try this at home.
