What an amazing route! I’m just getting into gravel as I’ve only been cycling a year. Would love to do this when I’ve built up my distances. I’ve gone from 4 km to 100 km in 10months so maybe next year?..
I've had Schwalbe G-One Speeds on this summer, 40mm front, 30mm rear. Roll nicely on the road, very comfy, quiet, not had a puncture and they're great on dry gravel, dirt and grassy trails.
Great video Richard - good to see you in Bakewell and although I didn't get a starring role in this one, my Marmite water bottle did ;-). A great day out on the bike which I think we all thoroughly enjoyed. Did you not get caught out by the fallen tree on the way back from Macc? It must have added on a good 45 mins of extra faffing and riding for me which I really didn't want or need at that stage of the day...see you again soon ..
Hi Phil. Ah fallen tree, added less than 5 mins, must have chosen the better detour, to join back on it was mostly downhill. Went back to main road, turned right, a couple of miles along turned right again.
@@BikepackingAdventures - ah yes Richard - I followed the same diversion...but the delay that took me all that extra time was me faffing around trying to squeeze past the tree on the road and then trekking through the field to see if I could find a way round. All I got for my efforts was a cow pat in my cleat and a load of nettle stings! Should have turned round straight away 🤣
I hope so too! It took just over 13 hours so bit longer than your usual 200 - but i also had my drone out as well for the ride which slowed me down a little. Wasn't racing around, just enjoying the flow.
Yep that was himalayas balsam, bees love it, you can forage it too (the seeds are kind of nutty flavour if you need a mid ride treat), but it's murder to the sides of riverbank and watercourses. Fab ride, really great vid thanks.
The Tissington Trail used to be interesting but since it has been "upgraded" with the fine stone and widened/flattened it has become a dust fest on a dry day and become quite monotonous. Scenery is still great though. They have also spoilt the High Peak Trail surface.
Nice video, thanks, and around trails i know well 👍🏼
Looked a good route, especially the gravel sections
Route looks brilliant
This was a fun day out - plenty of trails and country lanes as you saw. 👌

Well done! Always good to have goals =)
Some really good looking trails, will have to check out a few of these.
Always so interesting riding somewhere new.

Sounds good. Am shopping atm, or will be soon for some narrower tyres. Holiday planned.

Brilliant bike ride Richard.
Thank you kindly. Fun route. 🚴
Another good video plus drone footage 👍 Cheers
Glad you enjoyed it... this was my first attempt at an organised audax event with the drone along.
Couldn't make this one so I hope it appears as a permanent. Gravel and a fair bit of climbing too - looks 'fun'. How long did it take?

@@BikepackingAdventures I like an audax with plenty of faff time. Question is... can you draft a drone?
👍👍🇮🇳🇮🇳❤❤.IND
The pink flower plant is probably Himalayan balsam....
It's beautiful 😀

The colour of the Canal is due to historic mining and nothing else !!
👍 thought as much doesn't look very appealing though !
