The issue with Tear0 (or any tier 0 Format historically) is that the Deck itself might be fun to play BUT its the vast majority of the time not Fun playing any other Deck against it. Sure there are some Tier 1 Decks that have a decent chance to win against Ishizu Tears but... its still a very unfavourable uphill Battle where it 99%of the time depends on how bricked the Tears player opening hand is (as we have seen wonderfully in this Video where MBT got wrecked by Claymen :P ).
Ishizu is more fun imo since there's much more interacting with the opponent and it's less solitaire. Although the Ishizu cards do guarantee that nothing else is playable.
@@kauanjos3199 I mean, the Ishizu’s have basically killed any Graveyard reliant deck. Which, with how the Graveyard might as well be a second hand nowadays, is a pretty significant list. Whatever they were smoking at Konami HQ when they made the Ishizu’s, I want some. Tear’s not entirely innocent - they’re still ridiculously higher powered than anything else around them - but they’re more “right place, right deck” to take advantage of the Ishizu’s being absolutely broken
Yeah, while I do find it good that it is interactive, I just feel something off about it. You are telling me that the only way this deck is fun is in the mirror. If a deck is only fun if you play the mirror... I dunno man. Plus it also feels a bit unfair to other decks. They may not set up negates, but they sure will bounce you back.
Its not only fun in the mirror, its that you can only compete in the mirror. If another deck could stand up to tear without floodgates, that matchup would also still be fun. The problem is power level, not fun.
It is indeed boring to play, but not because of the playability, but rather the competitive aspect. It is no fun to play a game if you have all the advantage, there's no skill involved from the player. You just won because of the deck you're playing, not because of your strategy, and that's always boring. And this will happen to every deck they release that's on another league against everything else, on every game on existence. Having an unfair advantage against your opponent is by definition boring, otherwise we're not talking of a competitive person.
I agree. I have a pretty equal W/L ratio with my ss tenyi deck but the losses are fucking blowouts and if I win i just opened crazy and they bricked. I hate it
I don't dislike Tears because I understand the appeal of complex and interactive games where you can win if you play smart and even if you lose, you still feel enjoyable. That's nice. The problem is it's too powerful and it's just ONE deck that does something like this and plays over and over with a similar deck. The game just becomes a "Tearlaments simulator" over and over. I hope Konami learns from it. Also, some players only want to use Tears not for the complexity or learning experience, but simply because it's a powerful deck that plays for them and act cocky about it. However, often it's just bad palyers be carried for them.
I have this feeling that when konami make tear, in their head they think "what if we make an archetype like orcust that can play in opp's turn, but you dont need the field spell". I mean look at them, we have a normal summon that send a card from deck to gy (Reinoheart and mekkknight girsu), a big version of them that can interact with one card on the field when summoned (Kaleidoheart-Dingirsu), a counter trap that depicts someone getting a little stabby stabby in their artwork (cryme-cressendo), and a field spell that looked like a tower (babel-perlereno). I mean call me crazy but the connection is there.
I agree with MBT on a lot of things, but I cannot fathom how he thinks tier zero ishizu tear is a healthy format. Watching people scoop after preforming the exact same plays game after game because they didn’t want to shell out the 150ish dollars that he spent on the free to play game. I literally do not have enough dust to build the deck, and I have lost 90% of my games against people who are playing it, so I’m just left in the dust because I don’t want to spend money on this shit.
It's the kind of format that reminds me of Dad. You are either playing Dad or losing. It's also similar how it had a rival for a bit in Glad Beasts before that was overshadowed, much like Sprights to Tear. Overall, I hate this format and will stick with my anti-Tear builds (Metaphys and exosisters).
@@IrrelevantOaf How well does your Metaphys deck do against Tear? Also, what’s your deck list? I’m playing Labrynth right now but even with a ton of floodgates it’s hard to make a consistent anti-Tear Labrynth build

Millioniam eyes restrict also a thing? I didn't get to make dark law or dweller that much but when they came apon me then it is almost a win in mirror.
i hate tear tbh, due to how oppressive it is verses any other deck, as someone who really enjoys playing janky bullshit i cannot express how frustrating it is to have the first two games after release be tear and have it just be so lopsided it's not even fun. like i just want to play my melffy deck dawg i don't need this shit. but to be fair, this was going to happen, i may not fully enjoy it but i am happy others get to experience this deck at a pretty strong level. i will be over here waiting for the enevitable kitkalos ban and more for us to start seeing deck variation again.

I don't understand how people can enjoy playing a format where it's just a single deck. I don't care how "skill intensive the mirror is," part of playing a card game is the variety of strategies. I don't want to be forced to play either Tear or something specifically tooled to beat Tear. Also, the deck itself isn't even fun imo. Just mill, place fusion monsters on your side of the field until you have enough negates (yes this is just a build-a-billion-negate board, I don't care if they only have like one omni), set a trap, and then when they interact with your board you just shuffle your cards back to put the same monsters back out. Very fun deck
Not gonna lie, this sounds like you are playing Tear wrong if that's what you are doing. The decks interaction is extremely vast and trying to downplay it by boiling it down to billion negate board is just factually wrong, you said so yourself its 1 negate. But I do agree with the single deck problem, I love Tear its some of the most fun yugioh has ever had in the 8 years I've been playing.
This is just me, but I don't care how skill intensive and fun the mirror is, because after a while it WILL get old. You only have 1 interesting deck in the format and everything else is stomps or the skill intensive game that after a week of playing only mirrors, I can imagine even the most die hard fans will get tired of only mirrors. To be clear. I wish every match was skill intensive, but between a diverse meta. Not just the same deck playing against itself.
Wow, I'm so glad I blew all my gems and UR dust to get Tear in MD! Now to grind to diamond. Surely it won't take long. Now to take a big sip of water while I look at the average game length of the mirror-!
Having an answer to everything is boring. Fossil Dyna is also boring. What’s fun is when a deck has answers to most things and the opponent is trying to figure out the weak spots/choke points. It’s not fun when none of that shit matters.
its different because it has a billion interaction lines. The deck can basically do anything at any time if you have the brain power. It still sucks to play against tho!!!
Wait why do they have scream, that's a kashtira wave card. Tear here is even stronger than that 2-week window after the utrecht ycs and MAMA release where they were uncontested with ishizu and no bystials
See Konami, an expert Tear pilot can lose to janky HEROs, and almost lose to Blue-Eyes, the deck is totally fine and we can be trusted without further hits on upcoming banlists
i like how tear actually just doesn't care for maxx c. just give your opponent 2 draws make kitkalos with sulliek and then do the entire combo on the opponents turn the second they put a monster on field
I haven’t spent a dime on MD so I only have three cohesive full power decks but I’m proud to say that they are Ishizu Tear, Branded Despia, and HERO, all made just by grinding for gems
I'm sure all the people who's literal job it is to play Yugioh have no issues with an incredibly expensive deck that has incredibly long games. Not for me. You're right MBT I'll go play another game. Please inform me when this one gets banned
MBT... A Yugituber that hates floodgates because it makes the game unplayable for him but loves Tier 0 Tearlaments/Ishizu because it makes the game unplayable for the opponent.
Tear is one of those decks that's ONLY fun for the pilot of it. Anyone else trying to play anything else for any reason is instantly put in a losing state cause tear has so fucking much it can do. I don't care how fun the deck is, it is HORRENDOUS for a competitive game like this Edit: No, I agree with the guy who called it boring. It may be fun for you, but for your opponent it's fucking miserable, all because they made the mistake of...wanting to play a deck they like. Every single win, save for the final one, was somebody surrendering because tear is just that fucking oppressive on them. "Go play another game" is a jackass thing to say to people who don't want to have to fight "mill the whole deck and have every option for everything any other deck can do" the deck.
Funnily enough I had the opposite experience. I was looking forward to tear, and I do love this deck, but it is most definitely too powerful and I hope they e-ban parts of it, preferably ishizu cards and/or the traps so that the deck is still playable after the fact.

While I completey hate tier 0 formats and think that they're absolutely unhealthy for the game, I do agree that playing Tear/Tear Mirrors is a lot of fun. It still shouldn't be the way that it is though, there realistically should never be a format where only one deck, especially one that is crazy high rarity, is the only thing worth playing. I'm still gonna play because funnily enough my favorite decks (Melffy Spright and Exosister) actually have a decent chance against them if you play smart, but Tear is still definitely far too strong. I really hate that Tear and Ishizu had to be released at the same time. Tear is a strong deck which is amplified by whatever mill support is available and Ishizu just happens to do that and make you the sole owner of a graveyard. Seeing both Ishizu and Tear get limited to 1 on everything across most formats kinda sucks because it just solves the issue via inconsistency until a 3rd archetype comes into the mix to break it again. If we just banned the ishizu cards then Tear could probably exist with a few of their cards at 3.

That's normal tbh
@@triple_gem_shining idk, when Spright came out, I pulled EVERYTHING for it in the first 10 packs, I was insanely lucky
@@stevenashley27 no what (I hope) M means is they're shorting the URs for this pack. Farfa + coder + mbt all had shit pulls on stream, plus the 70-30 ratio of players complaining in the comments of this video is kinda telling.

Maybe...it was destiny for me
it was just a foreshadowing, first ocg, then tcg, now master duel
tear just wont stop coming
And they don't stop coming
The issue with Tear0 (or any tier 0 Format historically) is that the Deck itself might be fun to play BUT its the vast majority of the time not Fun playing any other Deck against it. Sure there are some Tier 1 Decks that have a decent chance to win against Ishizu Tears but... its still a very unfavourable uphill Battle where it 99%of the time depends on how bricked the Tears player opening hand is (as we have seen wonderfully in this Video where MBT got wrecked by Claymen :P ).
Seeing him get wrecked by Clayman was the best part in the video honestly 😅😅
I would have preferred if ishizu cards came later and we had a couple weeks of danger tear, now that deck was fun.
Branded tear is pretty fun too
Ishizu is more fun imo since there's much more interacting with the opponent and it's less solitaire. Although the Ishizu cards do guarantee that nothing else is playable.
@@dracoblizzard7944 yeah i will die on this hill saying the ishizu cards are the real war criminals
@@kauanjos3199 both suck man
MBT's Joker Tear arc starts now until it's banned into oblivion
Tear isn't boring to play, but it is kinda boring to play against when it's the only thing people are playing on ladder
@@Payohloh That is very true. I'll admit, I only know what people say about Tearlaments, so I'm still inexperienced ^^"
I hate it
Getting rekt by Clayman into Sunrise. The shuffling algorithm was definitely trying to make him feel guilt.
For the record, I played Tear and still hated it.
Glad you’re having fun tho. Really.
Tear is very much just orcust 2.0.
Literally make a new account. It takes 5 minutes and youll have enough to build Literally anything you want.
@@IrrelevantOaf How well does your Metaphys deck do against Tear? Also, what’s your deck list? I’m playing Labrynth right now but even with a ton of floodgates it’s hard to make a consistent anti-Tear Labrynth build
@@TheEagleAndTheApple making an entirely new account just to build one deck is pretty lame tbh

Can't believe; Streamer & RUclipsr MBT
went from Hero to Villian. I'm crying and crying rn
I swear the match up is interesting only 25 percent of the time because they use dark law/winda/whatever war crime they can come up with on top of an abyss dweller and a Rulkallos
Mirror gentlemaning out of Dweller is fun
Dark lawn in tear is such a meme it's inconsistent as fuck just like in the heroes deck...
The only real issue tear can usually make is Winda...
Yup let the whales have fun for now. They'll regret it once Konami brings in the ban hammer.
Tear can't ruin your fun if you just surrender at the first tear card you see...
That's what I do anyway

Not just the same deck playing against itself.
so ironic when people cope and try to say the tear matchup is skillful but get quiet as soon as the turn player summons 2 level 4s
That's how it usually goes with tear shills :v
Wow, I'm so glad I blew all my gems and UR dust to get Tear in MD! Now to grind to diamond. Surely it won't take long. Now to take a big sip of water while I look at the average game length of the mirror-!
Having an answer to everything is boring. Fossil Dyna is also boring. What’s fun is when a deck has answers to most things and the opponent is trying to figure out the weak spots/choke points. It’s not fun when none of that shit matters.
I love how mbt said the deck is diffrent than other meta decks and then the end board is usually 2 negates and a floodgate like bruh
It is different. Usually end boards are combod during their turn not mine.
It's different cuz it summons boss monster during opponent's first turn
its different because it has a billion interaction lines. The deck can basically do anything at any time if you have the brain power. It still sucks to play against tho!!!
Wait why do they have scream, that's a kashtira wave card.
Tear here is even stronger than that 2-week window after the utrecht ycs and MAMA release where they were uncontested with ishizu and no bystials

then i can consider letting tear slide.
i wanna play full power zoo again.
Nah, i felt disgusted the time i played Tear Ishizu once. Insanely broken, felt like i was stealing from sick elders.
See Konami, an expert Tear pilot can lose to janky HEROs, and almost lose to Blue-Eyes, the deck is totally fine and we can be trusted without further hits on upcoming banlists
It's funny seeing MBT mald when other people don't like playing an unfun deck
I really want to see an exhibition match between no-limits Zoo and full power Tear now.
i like how tear actually just doesn't care for maxx c. just give your opponent 2 draws make kitkalos with sulliek and then do the entire combo on the opponents turn the second they put a monster on field
I haven’t spent a dime on MD so I only have three cohesive full power decks but I’m proud to say that they are Ishizu Tear, Branded Despia, and HERO, all made just by grinding for gems
Was there a single person who didn't feel like the drop rates for this pack were worse than usual?
Tear itself is not that broken, it just a high roll deck, but combine with ishizu card, it is broken beyond belief.
i love how much trouble you had building this complete trash
I wanna build Tear in MD but I dont wanna drop all the money to just have the deck be hard limited in like 2 months lmao
U could make an alt account and get gems from solo and then make a budget version of the deck
I built the deck as a f2p really not that hard i just knew they're were coming before hand and prepared the gems

Welp its time to scrap all my decks because they are useless against Tear....
Nono, save your decks, they'll be playable again in 2 months
Tear is one of those decks that's ONLY fun for the pilot of it. Anyone else trying to play anything else for any reason is instantly put in a losing state cause tear has so fucking much it can do. I don't care how fun the deck is, it is HORRENDOUS for a competitive game like this
Edit: No, I agree with the guy who called it boring. It may be fun for you, but for your opponent it's fucking miserable, all because they made the mistake of...wanting to play a deck they like. Every single win, save for the final one, was somebody surrendering because tear is just that fucking oppressive on them.

Though i somehow have a 8 win streak
Funnily enough I had the opposite experience. I was looking forward to tear, and I do love this deck, but it is most definitely too powerful and I hope they e-ban parts of it, preferably ishizu cards and/or the traps so that the deck is still playable after the fact.

Same. If you have the patience, MD is truly F2P.
Same, never spent a single gem (edit: sorry, BOUGHT a single gem) and was able to make full power Swordsoul, Branded, Spright, and Tear, and that’s just the recent ones. Although Tear took everything I had, with 12k stock+gift box gems and 240 UR dust.

@@carlostaffanelly418 Usually I just play 2-3 duels to get my dailies (I try to do it everyday, but sometimes I can’t, so comes to around 5 days a week). Edit: When I get a new deck completed, I tend to play it for a few hours because it’s new and exciting, and sometimes I play more when events are running (as a f2p player, you really need to get the most out of the events, but it still wasn’t more than 1 day of max 4 hours per event)

Regarding the Clayman lose: He really build an inconsistent Tear deck (too many defensive cards)
I dislike Tearlaments because I want to play a different deck.
What I think I hate even more is that their presence is probably gonna get my 60 card Lightsworn pile nerfed into the ground with cards like Grass and the Ishizus being paramount to that decks success. Sadge
