  • @Spellshot693
    @Spellshot693 Год назад +168

    My problem with Tear 0 isn’t that the deck is unfun, or the mirror match. It’s that if you play pretty much anything else you’re at such an extreme disadvantage that it feels like you shouldn’t even be trying it.
    Just today I fought a Mekk Knight player (I know not a great deck, but not the point) who Maxx C’ed me and I just played through it, leaving them with several board breakers, kaiju’s and pretty much their entire combo, yet I still had the recursive capabilities to stay in the game and beat them pretty much effortlessly on the clap back. As fun as the deck is for ME, that means that my opponent drew pretty much everything that could’ve possibly helped them and it still wasn’t enough.
    I don’t want to play a game where for at least 1 month there’s only 1 truly viable deck. Yes decks like Despia or Spright are ok, but how much can you really win with those against game after game against Tear?
    And the sad thing is that it IS a fun deck. If there were other decks which could truly be a match for it, then I would still be having fun, even if it was still the best deck. But because of how strong the deck is and how often we’re going to see it, I felt the need to build it so I don’t get slapped 9/10 games for however long it’s viable

    • @galaxyvulture6649
      @galaxyvulture6649 Год назад +4

      Some decks can win at least. I got absolutely destroyed by exorsister when they maxx c me and banished my cards. I even had to use everything I had summoning all the fusions and my branded cards. I'll admit they really had the perfect hand and board to counter me, they went first, and I was using a weaker version of tear, but that deck will do well against tear and spright.

    • @Spellshot693
      @Spellshot693 Год назад +58

      @@galaxyvulture6649 Of course other decks CAN win against Tear variants, but it’s a ludicrously uphill battle. Even with optimal circumstances like the situation you described, if the Tear player opened well enough, it doesn’t matter that much.
      If you want to perform at a semi-good level, at this stage of Master Duel’s format, it’s essentially Tear or nothing. MBT even mentions in the video that a lot of tools which allowed other decks to stand their ground against Tear aren’t in MD.

    I don’t think that the deck is boring, but I don’t like it because of what it is rather than what it does. And what it is is a deck that if used well allows almost no counter play unless your opponent also plays tearlament. And I don’t mean in a “million negate” sense, I mean the deck covers all of his weakness so no matter what you do a good tearlament player will always come out of it in a good position (again, unless both players are using tear).
    And that’s kind of frustrating, because you either play tearlament or lose to tearlament, and one of the main things in Yugioh for me and I imagine others is the variety, so when you go in ranked and it’s either tear (and you lose because you don’t play tear) or the idiot who thought that the best way to counter tear was just to run every single floodgate with no win condition except the opponent surrendering.
    I’m at Least glad a lot of people are experimenting with exosisters, I have been seeing a lot of that deck in ladder as well so it’s not completely monotonous

    • @shawnjavery
      @shawnjavery Год назад

      Its hard for the mirror as well, to be honest. You punish the mill 5s but if you have shufflers in the gy you don't get punished by as much, its pretty much just sulliek and scream triggers, or them hitting their own ishizu cards to mill more or get a shuffler in rotation. If tear can get to dweller plus follow up there's very little you can do in the mirror, you have more options than other decks certainly, but it still feels pretty die roll dependent if you just see engine.
      The end boards are really just too diversified for its own good. Like a rukalos plus suliek and a havnis in hand is so hard for any deck to break through, and doesn't really have good cards to run into it.

      It is indeed boring to play, but not because of the playability, but rather the competitive aspect. It is no fun to play a game if you have all the advantage, there's no skill involved from the player. You just won because of the deck you're playing, not because of your strategy, and that's always boring. And this will happen to every deck they release that's on another league against everything else, on every game on existence. The problem is it's too powerful and it's just ONE deck that does something like this and plays over and over with a similar deck. The game just becomes a "Tearlaments simulator" over and over. I hope Konami learns from it.
    Also, some players only want to use Tears not for the complexity or learning experience, but simply because it's a powerful deck that plays for them and act cocky about it. However, often it's just bad palyers be carried for them.

    I don't understand how people can enjoy playing a format where it's just a single deck. I don't care how "skill intensive the mirror is," part of playing a card game is the variety of strategies. I don't want to be forced to play either Tear or something specifically tooled to beat Tear.
    Also, the deck itself isn't even fun imo. Just mill, place fusion monsters on your side of the field until you have enough negates (yes this is just a build-a-billion-negate board, I don't care if they only have like one omni), set a trap, and then when they interact with your board you just shuffle your cards back to put the same monsters back out. Very fun deck

    • @anthonyrodriguez9232
      @anthonyrodriguez9232 Год назад +4

      Not gonna lie, this sounds like you are playing Tear wrong if that's what you are doing. The decks interaction is extremely vast and trying to downplay it by boiling it down to billion negate board is just factually wrong, you said so yourself its 1 negate. But I do agree with the single deck problem, I love Tear its some of the most fun yugioh has ever had in the 8 years I've been playing.

  • @kyrudo

    This is just me, but I don't care how skill intensive and fun the mirror is, because after a while it WILL get old. You only have 1 interesting deck in the format and everything else is stomps or the skill intensive game that after a week of playing only mirrors, I can imagine even the most die hard fans will get tired of only mirrors.

I'm still gonna play because funnily enough my favorite decks (Melffy Spright and Exosister) actually have a decent chance against them if you play smart, but Tear is still definitely far too strong.
