omg brian has changed so much.. i can't believe he wasn't serious and sincere at the end of the series. yes the bomb sped things up but i think brian just accepted that he had a right to happiness and that justin cared more than anyone or anything.
And that's how the show ended. Nothing else to see.
It's been 10 years since I watched QAF and it still hurts and probably will always do!

Yeah, it was left open-ended, so there's hope. I do wish they would have married, though. It was a let-down.
@@blossomscene I don’t know if they would’ve ever gotten married. They were committed in the belief that loving someone meant you want THEM to be happy. Is that not the greatest way to love? Without any selfish desires of one’s own happiness? Brian could’ve been happy in NY. He was desperate to go in Season 1. But it was never discussed or considered. Justin wanted to make his own way and Brian wanted to allow him to do that.

@@findinglife8110 well,they did. But Brian convinced Justin to move to New York because of better chances for his career, and Brian stayed in Pittsburgh. The called the wedding off,but they didn't break up either

I know it's an unpopular opinion, but I'm so glad Brian and Justin didn't get married. It would've been a betrayal of both of their characters for them to. The only people I've seen being mad they didn't get married are cishet women.
I'm a cishet woman and agree with you it would've been nice but it just wasn't who they were in that moment it felt like a knee jerk reaction to the bombing I also think Justin needed to spread his wings and experience new things, I'd like to think they'd still be together in their own way though
@@chelseaoliver5404 I like to think that too. I can see a world where Brian is forced into therapy and finally deals with his shit. After 15 years, I can see them finding a way to make it work.
@@mandipandi303 I actually wanted them to be together but in NY. Brian had a desire to go to NY to be better in the ad business. He was already successful there, why couldn't he have followed Justin. Ultimately proving how much he loved him. That way they would have had a fresh exciting new start. They both thrived on challenges so this would have been a new environment to grow.
The ending with Brian going back to his egotistical behaviour (revelling at being the center of the club as he aged) was not a good look. Brian was many things but he always had class.
Wish they would do a one off movie of all of them now.
@@attyjade I agree with most of what you've said. I think they could've lasted longer in NY. Especially if Justin and Brian took a couple years apart and Brian spent those years in therapy. Justin would have needed to change his desire for monogamy. Brian being forced into a monogamous relationship would've always created strain for them as a couple. I still don't think they'd last long-term though. Justin wants to be a dad. Maybe Brian and Justin moved to Vancouver to be more consistent parents to Gus, it could've worked. But ultimately, what Justin said during their breakup in season 5 remains true. A couple needs to want the same things and to move in the same direction to be successful. Both Justin and Brian would have to make serious changes for them to stay together. And all of those changes would have to be something THEY wanted to do individually for themselves, not something they were doing to please each other (like Brian was doing with being monogamous).
@@mandipandi303 Brian's hesitation to trust love is what kept them apart. Once he let down all his walls he embraced it. So he truly wanted to be monogamous with Justin. He knew what mattered most in his life. His selflessness towards Justin throughout the 5 seasons showed that he loved him just not conventionally. Brian proved his depth of love for him by letting him go to be his best. The changes had been made already. Justin wasn't clingy and needy as before and had become his own man. Brian realizing that he could have lost him due to his code and did a 99% change in attitude. They had become equals. There was a complete freedom in their relationship that the others hated but also envied. The only therapy I believe he needed was more time with Justin. The only person that would be completely honest and true to Justin would be Brian. If Mel and Linds with all their dysfunction could try to make it work, why not them? Everyone else got theirs but them. I don't mean marriage but ending with a strong bond. Brian's aversion to being a father had also changed so he and Justin becoming parents was a possibility. When the show ended Justin was 22, so he still had a lot of growing to do before that happened.
The ending with Brian at the club was the only misstep in the series..... I don't know if they wanted to keep true to the original English series ending....
