There are two main superficial veins of the upper limb: The basilic vein and the cephalic vein.
Both of them arise from the dorsal venous arch which lies on the dorsum of hand and it has a network aspect.
From the medial end of the dorsal venous arch arises the basilic vein. And from the lateral end of the dorsal venous arch arises the cephalic vein.
The basilic vein begins as the continuation of the medial end of the dorsal venous arch of
the hand. It runs upwards along the back of the medial border of the forearm, winds round this border near the elbow to reach the anterior aspect of the forearm, where it continues upwards in front of the elbow and then along the medial side of the biceps brachii up to the middle of the arm, where it pierces the deep fascia and unites with the brachial veins to become continuous with the axillary vein at the lower border of the teres major.
From the radial aspect of the dorsal venous arch , the cephalic vein arches around the radial aspect of the forearm to course through the anterolateral forearm. It then passes upwards over the anterior elbow region and ascends lateraly to the biceps muscle to reach the deltopectoral groove. The vein then perforates the clavipectoral fascia to drain into the axillary vein.
What a unique ability to use both the hands during writing.
Am amazed...never seen that before
Thanks! This actually makes it easier to visualize veins on a patient when trying to draw blood :)
I’m in school for vascular sonography and this was a quick and great overview of the main upper extremity veins! Thank you yet again for FANTASTIC content. 🌼
This video is exceptional 👌🏾 👏 💕
Thank you so much for your time and effort. You make anatomy so interesting!!! Wish other teachers could teach like u too
This is the bomb when explaining the veins....thank you so much!!!
Thanks, you have demonstrated it very simply and effectively.
Outstanding tutorial video!
Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge.
Thank you so much
My exams are coming
And I was looking for something like this
Your videos are perfect
The way you draw diagrams is amazing 👍👍
Wow. What a helpful video. Thank you very much! Im taking a phlebotomy course right now and they had not even mentioned the M pattern variation. Very grateful!
Subscribed - awesome content that's concise and to-the-point
Very simple and easy to learn , thank you ❤️💖
Great presentation. Its not often I am impressed. This is parexcellence.
Thanks mate. I've got an exam next week. Needed this.
thank u Sir for this excellent demonstration
😁WOOOOOW!!!! You have an amazing "Talents" that God gives you & you use it very well. ❤👍👏may God continue to bless you. Thank you for putting this out there for us.
Thank you! Nice diagram/drawings.
This is fantastic, thank you !
Thank you very much; great way to revise anatomy for exams . 😊😊
That was amaziiiing 👏👏👏
great job bro
Thank you!
Excellent!
Easy to follow.
Need drainage of deep veins(vena commitantes) too in detail
Learning the vascular anatomy of the arm: fairly easy, studying it and will make anybody learn it. USING BOTH HAND Independently: absolutely precious. Please tell me you have been playing the piano since the age of 4.... that will put my mind at ease - I wish my brain had this capability.
Thanks so helpful 😀👌
thank you sir
Thank you 😊
It’s very easy to understand
Ty ❤
Ati explicat f.bine.Multumim și succes în toate .🤗
Mulțumesc foarte mult! Mult succes și dumneavoastra!
Hi bro.. U vl always come like a SURPRISE for me..
Actually, was looking for basilic vein anatomy, very useful for interventional radiology procedures..
And we got it here from Expert in anatomy..👍👍
Thank you very much! All the best!
Its all that logic!
Sir love you from subclavian vein ❤️
Is there a video on the deep veins?
Cannot thank you enough
ماشاء الله
Thank you soo much sir 🥰 nice explanation 👍but sir I have doubt that vien have 2 pattern( H shape and M shape) that means different people wil have different vien pattern ?
What an interesting accent! It makes the content more memorable. Where are you from?
👏👏👏
Thanks alot!!!!!!
Can u make a whole video of Upper Limb artery so that we can memorize all the arteries with single picture or chart???
WOW
How is no one talking about the ambidexterity display?
Idk as an ambidextrous person I wasn’t impressed.
ambidextrous ❤️❤️❤️
🙏🙏
wow you are ambidextrous!
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Tomorrow I will have a surgery and I had to fill out a form about my case history. There was a special question about allergies.... I only got one allergy!
With 42 years of age I have had about 14 IVs in my life and I am allergic against IVs placed in the cubital vene or the back of the hand.
My cephalica just LOVES IVs placed just below the wrist up to the lower half of my forearm. If you get an IV that's the place because it does not interfere with casual activities as you can wrap a loose gauze bandage around it for additional protection.
Putting on a T-shirt, wearing this T-shirt, changing clothes, bending your elbow, working on a laptop, whatever you do with your hands.... if you don't want any irritations or slight pain or handicap go for the CEPHALICA!
The anesthesiologist had to laugh when he read it and just nodded towards me. 😂
😘😘
Nixc
Excellent work bro
i have the rarer “m” pattern in both arms it’s found in roughly 30% of people, “h” pattern is about in 70% of people.
both handed.
I thought this was going to be phalic veins not cephalic veins.
So I use drugs..... I inject... I have used all my veins and now i I next in my boobs... Just above the nipple. What medical problems can come from this
What?
V.nice.. I have also covered this topic on my channel. I would like to have a constructive feedback on that..😊
