"blind hedonism all the time isn't cool" fucking thank you, I literally don't know anything that's more damning to your spiritual practices as unbridled hedonism. There is so much "throwing the baby out with the bath water" in modern e--paganism.
Yeah the element of cultivating virtue, i.e. the highest expression of your capabilities from so many of these traditions tends to get swept under the rug and replaced with "leave the right crystal offerings, light a candle or two and don't commit grievous criminal offenses" as somehow the only ethical guidelines.
In my area, we have local witchcraft shops and functions where people get together and sell their items. Personally when I show up to one of these things and all i find are gimmicky feminism t shirts and hail satan nick nacks with no other context, no books beyond beginner witchcraft practices, no community to actually talk to about deep research, i become highly disappointed and return to a state of antisociality. I dont wish to be judgemental, but also dont wish to be apart of that local community.
I too would offload my old occult books every couple of years, until this year when I realized I sold what's now worth 400 bucks, for 8 dollars. So many things are going out of print, and I think out of all of the things you can hoard, books are one of the least problematic.
I've always hated that term "working with". I don't refer to my wife as, "someone I am working with taking care of my child". It is stupid, and disrespectful. Transactional is exactly the right word to describe many if not MOST of our modern interactions. We do not value relationships, that includes deity, spirits, ancestors etc.
I don't mind the phrase "working with" in the sense of someone talking about a land spirit or something of that nature, but devotion is different. there are deities to whom I show devotion because I genuinely enjoy showing them devotion. I don't think "working with" is the correct phrase. Sometimes, I feel like they are working with me in terms of helping me understand something, but not in the transactional sort of... I'm not even sure how to articulate this. It feels more like they give a damn when they are doing it, but even then, I'm not doing it for reward. I'm doing it because, silly as it sounds, I love them. And time it will take for someone to call me a "fluffy bunny"... 3...2...1... I don't say this expecting to have some deep personal relationship with all or even any of my deities. People seem to have this either/ or concept. Either it's an all powerful god that has a deep personal relationship with YOU, or the gods are just way to grand to have any emotions beyond... any emotions. It's all transactional. No love, only transaction. No humor, only transaction.... especially if the deity is dark, cthonic, harsh, a warrior.... um.... anything outside of the god of ice cream sundaes. There are different degrees of different emotions and different relationships. I hope my response wasn't overboard.
Established magicians don't need to brag about their skill. My Master once taught me "Your greatest power will always be your supreme silence, and perfect innocence."
A mistake I made … this was before I knew I was doing magick though. I was just doing it naturally. I should have shut tf about it, would have saved me from a lot of abuse
A lot of it comes down to intellectual, moral and ethical weakness and laziness and people fitting the Occult into their systems, which are made into nothing but excuses for being horrible people. Even if the system started out as having merit.
I feel like most "witchy" content on RUclips is total bullshit and people just trying to capitalize on something that is popular right now. I try not to judge too much because I don't wanna be a gate keeper but so many people are just telling you what they are learning as they learn it and pass it off as their practice. I hope I never act like I know everything and continually have a curiosity to learn. I appreciate your channel immensely. I've learned so much. You spark that fire in so many people. Thank you.
It seems like there's a real Scylla and Charybdis situation - the only real "gate-keeping" (sort of hate the term) I've seen in these communities myself is the people eager to denigrate "unverified personal gnosis", though I can sympathize with that perspective because the other extreme of accepting the whackados that claim that 15 gods speak to them daily on a rotating basis seems the greater evil. I think it's mainly a function of how fractured our community is... if we had 100x our numbers and could meet and discuss in temples like the good old days it'd be easier to navigate between the extremes of spiritual experiences.
“It doesn’t make you cool, it makes you a bitch.” Solid, agreed. You approached this problem in a very organized way, loved it. I was trying to summarize this yesterday and it wound up going on forever. I appreciate the approach you took.
Thank you! As an (esoteric) Orthodox christian (with hermetic leanings), that really makes me glad that you say these things. I feel really sorry for modern non-christian occultists when they are so anti-christian that they throw out the baby with the bathwater. Much of what you said is of utmost importance. As a baptized Orthodox christian we stress all the points you made in the video and it's so refreshing to actually see someone in the online occult community addressing these topics! I know you as a pagan won't really appreciate this, but I pray that God'll illuminate your way and will lead you to salvation (which might take many forms ofc ;).
I appreciate you breaking down these lies, especially the one about dropping virtue for "blind hedonism." I came into the occult from practicing ancient Greek philosophy and Zen Buddhism and those philosophies inform alot of what I think and do when it comes to magic. The clarity of mind that comes from studying those traditions are useful not just in ritual but life in general plus the ancients still practiced rituals and had wonder for the natural world as well as the invisible. Thank you miss Rose
I like the idea with blessing others who are unpleasant with unpleasant situations that will shape them into better people and myself with the grace to deal with them with more understanding.
@@MrEpz4321 When it is done because the child is female then yes it is evil and not in an edgy way but in a way that should be frowned upon and banned. You don't need a book to tell you that killing someone just because they are female, which is done in almost every case when a woman gets an abortion in countries like China, India, Pakistan, etc is wrong. I know someone will bring up the -1% of all cases but my point remains sound. I know evil when I see it, and so does everyone else at least before some gimp professor or political pundit tells them otherwise.
Theyre just normative standards that humans adopt as values..."morals". I personally don't do "evil" just because it doesn't resonate with me and doing "good" feels right.
The lefthand say evil is = to good. Harmonic resonance. Hermetics. They are ignorant. You can not serve two masters in the duality of being. The reality cube over the cyclone 🌀 self truth is mundane nonsense
I don't think it's a lie, but the assumption that because someone writes a book they must be an expert in the occult/witchcraft, and the inverse. Occult books are a dime a dozen, and most just parrot each other
*As a person in this community with 'autism spectrum disorder'* ...(what used to be called 'Asperger's syndrome')... _I deeply appreciate your verbal presentation style of 'info dumping' in concise format! lol_
You are very correct and I hate the lies too! And I've spent so much time going back and forth with these liars over social media for so many years so so many years.
You are so knowledgable I see a lot of myself in you. It's insane how spot-on and informative you can be. Most would disagree but I can very much teel we have a simular way of thought. I wish you were holding meet-ups. It would be so great to be guided and taught more by you.
Finally someone adressing the whole "working with" idea which always sat very wrong with me. And the whole "everything is true" is so annoying (even for a chaos witch) and woe if you say anything contradicting it.
So freaking helpful! I have been bouncing back and forth between beliefs trying to figure things out for YEARS, and I've essentially been a beginner all this time, because nothing makes any damn sense. This one video has taught me more than all the books I've read and groups I've joined combined. Subscribing for sure 😊
I don't understand people who think morality is tied to Christianity or some other faith. It's just based on human survival. If we wouldn't have rules/laws that basically come down to "treat them as you want to be treated" we'd be in constant war and chaos. It would only serve a small part of the population - temporarily, where as our system of moral laws and rules serve everyone. It's common sense.
I also hate the term "working with" to all heck. I have never once said I am "working with" the god of my shrine. The deity would probably be hurt by such language in the same way my wife or daughter would.
Brilliant, I am a Thelemite & Platonic Hellenist...and I am so happy you addressed theses issues and agree with you. I have said the same things, but since I am Gen X and have practiced for 30 years... apparently it's *Gatekeeping* 🤔🤔
Thank you for this video. It's enlightening and also feels quite like a confirmation to me. Virtue and morality is of the things that have kept me in between paths as I haven't quite found my 'perfect' fit and I have focused on labels a lot in this area. Your comments on spiritual labels have caused me to rethink this. I have struggled with 'choosing' a deity over the years. I have had transactional relationships with a handful and began a relationship with one in particular but recently one has been revealing itself slowly to me and as my primary guide.
Interesting video, and very enlightening for me, thank you! The "nothing is true, everything is permitted" deal with chaos magic always sounded like a half truth to me (the 'nothing is true part'), in the sense that there isn't a universal truth to everybody or, if there is one, it's unreachable and it's each individual's purpose to seek out their own truths. However, the latter part of the sentence, while it sounds true in a way, it doesn't sound *truthful*. Because in theory anyone can seek to do anything, sure, but it doesn't mean they should.
I've started my practice as a witch and explored my belief in polytheism when i was 14. Im turning 24 in a couple of weeks. Through these ages, I admit I dont have it all figured out. Im still very much a baby. So much of what I've read and believed in doesn't apply to my current beliefs anymore, but im getting closer to figuring out what works for me. There are so many problematic and nuanced things I've had to let go of and learn from as well. I wish more people would do the same. I appreciate this video!
Agree with a lot of what is said. I think people need to be more ethical with their practice and be more selective when being offensive. I tire of all the labels when in reality spirituality feels very individualistic. I don't get why everyone is obsessed with all these labels nowadays.
15:45 I guess it depends on how you spin it. Chaos magic assumes that there is a default reality and the reality is chaos (or Kia, as expressed by Austin Osman Spare, arguably the first proto-chaos mage). The saying most widely used in chaos magic to express that statement ("belief is a tool") is about the fact you can use multiple interpretations of truths to your advantage. It's actually quite similar to cultural sayings in Hinduism where there is one truth/God, but many paths to get there. Chaos magic just puts the dial to 11 on that idea and makes the truth as encompassing as possible to accommodate the many psychological preferences out there.
Your content is some of the most real online currently. I come to you with just as much enthusiasm about the metaphical information derived from true practice as I go to Justin Sledge when it comes to the information coming from the distant past. Love you, beautiful inside and out.
If you ever want to have a conversation and collaborate I would be thrilled. You have very powerful points that most are too afraid to talk about and or they just simply don't want to accept as truth because it doesn't fit the narrative they have been telling themselves to weave the illusions that "protect" them. I have been inspired to start writing my blog and am starting my RUclips channel on many of the taboo topics around magick, philosophies, and the importance of not only living intentionally but taking radical responsibility for ourselves and our actions. I am also seeking to connect the occult or spiritual practices with that of quantum physics and other very significant wisdoms through history to give the new age practitioners some actual understanding and facts. I think your channel is great and you are doing an amazing job at expressing the truths that many refuse to see or that have been hidden from the mainstream. Blessings.
I really needed to hear the first one because in my path I've been accumulating too much theory and not practicing enough. I agree with all your points I feel like specially with the occult people need to be really grounded and not everyone does that like the "witches" that want to be evil all the time just show how they want to feel like they're powerful because they want to feel in control of something or feed their own ego. I particularly hate something in the occult community that is people with white guilt who do "ancestor work" to try to "heal their line" by reading sociological stuff for the spirits of their ancestors and it's so wild how they think the spirits are gonna understand any of that like these people could be educating living people if they wanna show off how much of an activist they are but no they're gonna read it for dead people who can't do anything to "change society" or whatever is their goal. Very good video.
Tools for the craft are usually best if you create them yourself. Bucklands complete book of witchcraft explains how to make and use the tools for the craft.
Wow I am in total 100 percent agreement with you, and I've always held these same opinions, about my generation's extraordinary hedonist experiences having done nothing but distract and disarm from the monolithic Esoteric 'experience', as I can best put it. It has been a crazy train culturally disruptive of the course that was meant to be, but now never will. Much love for setting the bar
Glad someone said it! The videos talking about "working with" deities like they're your co-worker at a retail joint, describing the relationship as purely transactional, speaking of deities as though they were like djinn of the Arabian Nights (or personal servitors or daimones) or that suggest lighting a candle and placing down a gemstone is the superhighway to BFFs with each and every god of a pantheon drive me up a wall!
as a wiccan i get attacked online and accused of racism and my focus on the number 8 and media correspondence and it’s so frustrating arguing with people who don’t understand kabbalah
I do disagree with the "working with" or "following" phrasing. Do I worship my wife because I give her gifts and sometimes ask her to do things? If I'm wise, yes. :D But, what about my sister? I give her gifts and have asked favors of her in the past, with reciprocation. Am I worshipping her? Am I worshiping my boss if I decide to pool in money for a small birthday gift from the staff? Say I go to my bank and ask for a loan, is that worship? They get interest off of my loan, and I get a car. Am I worshipping the bank? My opinion on worship boils down to exclusivity. When you worship an entity you dedicate yourself to them and them alone. By worshipping I put that being above myself. I am all for a relationship of mutual benefit. I do not expect something for nothing, but neither do I want a transactional relationship. I give gifts, offerings, and prayers whether I have asked for something or not. They are not my genie and I am not their slave.
Thank you for saying this. It needs to be exposed. I know one where his people practically worship him. He is just a sales person and has little to offer, but they will die fighting for him
I do believe that morals matter, but I also have always believed that morals and values are these ever shifting culture-societal and personal believes based of either what we learn and what we agreed to follow. What some may believe that is right, others may perceive as wrong. In the end of the day, let your moral compass point out your judgement path. I myself don't believe there is necessarily right or wrong paths, but I believe that there are more or less validated paths based of knowledge collected by society or groups through generations. Those paths are just that, validated over and over and proven by generations and left as knowledge passed on from one individual or group of individuals to another until it reaches you. Meanwhile, less validated paths aren't necessarily wrong, they are just less validated. You can decide to follow a less validated path if you want, but those are much harder since you don't have the shoulders of knowledge coming from past generations. While there might have a wrong path, it is up to you to gain experience and knowledge or develop your own and figure out.
The Path is way of Abraham, existential crisis, inquisitiveness, conlusion on life, submission to the Dao, construction & singing praise, it's basically leading a life of value & care, we should optimally be optimizing towards potential, and everything natural is gradually. One love ❤️
People make light of evil like it’s just some personal shadow thing, there are real evil working in the world and people and it’s not a game. Some stuff should be taken seriously not played around with hubris.
"Truth is a pathless land." - J. Krishnamurti The grand core of Krishnamurti’s teachings is his 1929 declaration of truth as a pathless land. He taught us that man can’t get to it through organizations, beliefs, dogmas, priests, rituals, or philosophy. To him, truth can only be found through understanding and observing what’s in our minds. Man has surrounded himself with symbols, ideas, and beliefs. This dominates his thoughts, therefore dominating his life and relationships. The name and shape of our cultures shouldn’t define us, they’re superficial by tradition. Instead, we need to free our minds.
I think that a lot of people in the occult community believe that there are no morals or no evil is because they either were atheists before or a lot of their friends are atheists. This has been me as well. When people start with their practice after being atheists or agnostics, they tend to do this "I'm not like the *other* spiritual girls" because our ego doesn't let go of some beliefs easily.
As someone who doesn't believe in dualistic thinking in the first place, I find the concepts of evil and good to be incredibly simplistic and limited in view point. I don't think a universal morality system actually works in practice. Examples including being Christians and Buddhists commiting genocide, going against their own moral systems. Using a more flexible system of ethics seems more sensible to me. I wouldn't normally steal unless my family is starving. I won't normally hurt other people unless they attack me, if they do I have no problem putting them into the hospital or morgue depending on situation.
I got into Wicca 25 years ago because I thought I was practicing the "old religion" and Christianity was bad because it erased the ancient culture. It wasn't until recently that I learned so much of modern Paganism was developed in the 20th Century. I also don't like the Gregorian calendar. The cross-quarters of the seasons do not land on the 1st or 31st of the month. If liminality is important in your practice, you need to hold those rituals on the date proper, not what's convenient. I totally agree with your point about what you said years ago you recant today. I'm totally that way, especially when I see how much cultural appropriation has been done in the name of neo-Paganism. Finally, "nature-based religions" don't need tools made from plastic in a sweatshop in China. The energy of your tools matter. Thanks again for making these videos. I am really digging your channel!
Where have you been all my life? Love your necklace. I could never find one back in the day. I am Gen X. Your words are so pleasant to my ears that have been overrun by TikTok New Age BS.
about choosing your deity, they are their own intelligence and will interact with you as such. you can approach someone at a party that you think is cool, but they can not want to talk to you
I want to talk about tools for a moment. I think this is so important. I was very, very young when I was introduced to the occult and the general occult/pagan community. I grew up around it and I have always been self taught as well. I've been on a magician's path for nearly 20 years now and one of the things I did about 5 years ago was throw away and get rid of all my tools and books. Why? Because I felt like a hoarder. So I gave much of my things away to other aspiring occultists and pagans/witches etc. who could better benefit from those things. I wanted to make sure I could do the work on my own without any tools and it also gave me time to consider what was really important in my path so that when I did re-buy things like books, tools, statues etc. it was with the explicit intention that it will be there to serve me, my path and ideally for the rest of my life. I still don't need anything to practice ceremonial magic thanks to this push to make life simpler but also more minimalistic. However, when I do acquire more tools for my Work, I will have a much better appreciation for what I am creating, making or acquiring and for what reason other than because a book or person told me so.
Most of the people I've found online are just hedonists. I am not "Christian", or anything like that, but there seems to be a distinct anti-god, "do what thou wilt" sort of attitude. All fine and good, except it tends to lead to more materialism, which is exactly what i am trying to avoid in my practices in the first place. I want to do work that will benefit all beings, not just myself, because I am not "real" to begin with. Too many groups of young ladies I've come across in astrology meetings and such seem so anti this, and anti that, and F men, and "all hail LYLYT!", (nvr mind the fact that she is actually just a night demon from a totally different belief system). Just like with Lucifer. Like, the name use of Lucifer was meant to show how the king of Tyre was like the morning star. It isn't an angel, let alone THAT angel. Lucifer and Venus are interchangeable. May as well give Inanna her due, or Astarte, Ishtar etc. Anyways, I rant much. Too much ignorance for sure in these communities. People getting ahold of information that was meant to be sacred and perverting it.
I like this video and agree with what you said 👍 I've found this sort of stuff frustrating since I have been working with the Occult. Especially the misconception that you can wantonly do whatever you please without consequence. That school of chaos magick does lead to self destruction. Following the higher moral law as instructed by esoteric divinity is essential. That's the whole point of the relationship with divinity. If your school dictate that you disregard ethic, then one must wonder what are those practices attempting to extort from you. That's the tricky and sticky nature of The Occult to begin with, it's obscure and designed for tricksters by tricksters. When this stuff gets peeled away though and you strip occult nature down to it's essentials, it's hard to get away from the prevalence and importance of Babylon. I find what these things come down to, are power dynamics. For example, I find that authentic practitioners understand their relationship with The Babs and know their place. They aren't hungry for God's power, but only to worship and augment her power. Understanding that joining with her in this manner, is what makes God Become. The inauthentic practitioner only seeks to usurp power for their own gains, thus taking away from the whole greedily. That's why the modern occult community is a vampires nest with a very small outlying pocket of radicals that believe in true worship and manifestation of The Higher Divinity, The Allmother. Which is a key element in unlocking the meaning behind what is really going on with Pan/Baphomet. But this is a whole other topic of discussion. Thanks for the vid and I wonder what your thoughts are on this. Take care.
When you say “working with”… When performing the lesser, greater, supreme rituals of the Pentagram/ Hexagram and invoking said Angels, Devas, Planetary or Zodiacal entities, and requesting or encouraging them to bless, consecrate, or bestow their favor and power upon you, an item, or location, and it’s for the purpose of integrating said energy for the Gnosis and towards completion of the Great Work, and it’s not worship and devotion yet also not spiritual Atm “invoke, poof, give me what I want” or “here’s a bloody chicken now give me a million dollars”, but instead meant to be establishing a genuine connection to and integration of said angels and forces would you consider that “Working with”?
Currently reading it. And remembered this video :-) 😀 yeah the language or way/use of words to explain stuff is limiting understanding of the principles and I find the explanations annoyingly oversimplified to the point where it becomes almost unintelligible. There's bits...Well I'm only half way thru it. I stopped reading it yesterday and thought that's it. But I'm not always a quitter so continuing to plough thru it. Great informative video georgina , thank you x
"Not everyone is on your spiritual team." I think that's a great way of encapsulating many concepts. I love this general topic. I am frustrated with many pagans because so many pagans think we are supposed to be hedonists or think "Do what though wilt." means "Do whatever you want, and fuck everyone else because I'm left hand path, and that means I'm better than people and beyond good and evil." I mean, I think I'm "new to this stuff" and likely will always be in a fair few respects. We are always seekers, life long learning. I think part of my work anyway is carving out an ethical system and using "magic" (I put it in quotes because that term is vague and, in and of itself, demands discussions) is to do some good for the wider world, not just getting am occasional boon or not having to work to get things or whatever. If I'm not doing good for the world, what even is the point? Just my way of thinking. I think the recovering Christian thing leads many pagans to want to forget about any strictures on their behavior. Such strictures don't have to be obeyed blindly or unchanging. They should change as we learn and refine our philosophies of life. They don't have to be artificially imposed, taken on faith, obeyed because of fear or gotten out of a dusty old dogma that does not apply to the modern world. IN fact, they shouldn't. It means we are responsible for figuring out the best ways to live in the world, and we're going to make mistakes, and hopefully, we're going to learn and grow from them and become better.
This video was awesome, and so many things you said made perfect sense. Like when I was first learning to black mirror scry I used a frame from a charity shop and an A4 sheet of black card that cost 3 quid all in rather than an expensive obsidian mirror and it worked (and scared the shit clean out if me lol), a lot of times our own DIY tools work far better, Magick is Magick at the end of the day and we are the conduit, ultimately a PELE ring made out of paper is no different to Spirit than one made out of 24kt Gold. And you are absolutely right about Deity choosing us as much as we choose them, and I think a part of it pertains to things like the HGA and Genetic Memory, like the first time I spoke in tongues I had to look up what Adonai, the word I understood as "Lord" was when I was speaking (I heard it like I was speaking English) and it turned out my path led me to traditional Qabbalah, which freaked me out at the time because I was a Pagan up to that point but now I know it's my own true path and I've fully embraced my Monotheism. And lastly you are completely correct about morality as well, breaking away from a former spiritual path does not give us free licence to be immoral to ourselves or others, often Magick is called the Holy Royal Art and Science; and a true Monarch has respect for themselves and those around them. I try to live by the Golden Rule when I can, we all remember Crowley's words "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law" but it's every bit as important to remember the rest of it... "Love is the Law. Love under will". You are wise beyond your years 👍.
This is more of a New Age practice, but I hate when people just incorporate whatever ritual or spiritual element they find interesting or aesthetically pleasing without doing the research, especially when there is a lot of LEGITIMATE cultural appropriation going on in modern New Age spirituality. Watered down Hinduism, commercialization of sacred Native American practices, just casually pursuing the kudalini in their weekly yoga class, etc. People putting their personal “truth” and self-expression at the expense of true appreciation and understanding for what they’re doing is not only dangerous (as you said), but it can be downright insulting.
Virtue and morality are important in a spiritual path because non virtue and no morality become hindrances. Not saying that there are Divine consequences that will be cast down upon us, but instead that by practicing “negative actions” negative emotional and psychological states will arise within us creating more attachment and possibly frustration towards the outer world. Then in meditation, or ritual, when it is time to let go of self, even if only temporarily, in order to enter into the absolute or Divine Experience of Gnosis all of those negative thoughts and emotions, which are the echo of non virtuous actions coming from the lack of morality, will arise and hinder the process of letting go or fully devoting ourself to the purpose of the operation being performed. That being said, what is moral and what is virtue? Who is to say for sure? As you said, they often follow the current culture, which can be a little unsettling to say the least. There is a phrase that I really love from the Nag Hamadhi library in the gospel of Thomas where Jesus, post resurrection, is having a discourse and gives two commandments, “Do not lie, and do not do that which you hate”. Something I think we all struggle with, not living up to someone else’s standards, but trying to live up to our own…
RE: "People assume that the ancient pagans and mystics agree to them politically..." Before adopting any tradition, there's such a thing as due diligence. One has to have sufficient familiarity with (1) the proposed tradition, (2) one's own ethics, aesthetics, and personal priorities, and (3) the compatibility/incompatibility of (1) and (2). For example: If I am profoundly inclined towards a "live-and-let-live" attitude, it wouldn't make sense for me to adopt an ancestral tradition that glorifies raids, rapes, and genocide of other peoples. Rather, I would keep searching for a tradition more compatible with my fundamental intuitions and sensibility. Will I find a perfect match? Probably not. But that doesn't mean that I have to condone all of the attitudes and actions prevalent in my chosen tradition. Forty years ago, when I adopted Hindu faith, I sure as hell didn't conform myself to the misogyny and casteism that are not only prevalent in a number of ancient scriptures but still remain prevalent among many present-day Hindus. After all, one needs to discern the baby from the bathwater.
personally, i do believe that morality and truth are both constructed by humans and are not absolute, but i do agree that the dominant understandings of these points are incredibly shallow and lead people to do things that harm themselves or others. like in the case of morality, the way that i see it is less that good and evil are metaphysical eternals, but rather are narrative/rhetorical tools that humans have used throughout history to coerce people into certain patterns of behavior by way of labeling. Even if it has had some pretty consistent agreements that I would view as successes, this is a mechanism that quite often has actually led people to support pretty abhorrent things across many societies and times. However, note that while i think that good/evil are narrative devices and should be questioned, i dont believe that actions are incapable of being abhorrent. violence exists. oppression is real. multiple genocides are happening literally today. i dont like that! and i dont think its so crazy to think that way. i think our society would be best shaped if it actively worked to minimize these things, and i dont really feel that letting yourself be guided by the urge to cause harm to others on whims is an awesome way to live life! I guess that part of this comes from mentally separating conceps/actions that are usually lumped in together as evil, between the nonhuman and the human; childhood chronic illness, as awful as it is, is not a manifestation of some metaphysical evil. the world is a chaotic and messy thing and often will produce events that, subjectively to us humans, are pretty fuckin tragic; but there isn’t really anything abhorrent going on here. What IS abhorrent, is the people and systems that thrive on making said child’s access to quality healthcare unattainable if their parents are unable to take on massive medical debt, or those who opportunistically parasitize off the price of vital drugs like insulin, or the ways that care providers can often be enabled by massive institutions to take advantage of their patients’ trust, to harm for their own gain. these are all human-produced, and contingent on the societal contexts that afford the opportunities for them to happen. every day, humans operationalize egregores that they refuse to see, and devote themselves to invisible godforms whose character is purely the stuff of control, of violence, of oppression. The seats of the Archons may live in the heavens, but they were built by human hands (and minds! lol). So basically, in my view, to recognize that good and evil are not metaphysical absolutes isn’t a carte blanche justification for just mistreating others because you feel like it. that moral rules arent handed to us-whether by the gods or by the categorical imperative-and are instead produced BY us, instead asks a question within which lies a massive burden: if we are truly so responsible for the outcomes of our actions, how do we really wish to live our lives? the popular parroted “morality isnt real” takes that advocate for the irresponsible sloughing-off of accountability, themselves just become evidence for the ways that humans self deceive into justifying their actions by one set of words or another. Its not actually a demonstration of a wisdom, but of one burying their head further and further into the sand. I could probably write another little rant about the relativity and constructedness of Truth not being justification for “all paths are valid” ways of thinking and instead, again reveals a deep responsibility that we all carry, but i’m not gonna bc i wanna go make dinner lol. so the food for thought is: if humans are uniquely gifted with the capacity of Logos, how do we wish to be drawing the lines which bound and shape the world we live in? what kinds of truths most persist in the world, and who benefits from them? is the dress black-and-blue, or white-and-gold?
The “morals don’t matter when you’re a witch/pagan/etc” is something that’s bothered me for a long time
"blind hedonism all the time isn't cool" fucking thank you, I literally don't know anything that's more damning to your spiritual practices as unbridled hedonism.
Hedonism eventually leads to emptiness
I agree. It is important to cultivate virtue.
I’ve read loads of books and performed lots of practices, but one of the best things I’ve learned is to laugh and not take yourself too seriously.

You mean Hermes trismegistus didn’t write every single book?!?!
I too would offload my old occult books every couple of years, until this year when I realized I sold what's now worth 400 bucks, for 8 dollars. So many things are going out of print, and I think out of all of the things you can hoard, books are one of the least problematic.
May I ask which occult books 📚 were most effective that you have read? Thank you
I've always hated that term "working with".

People need to remember that the great work and true will is not going to always be want we want.

Thank you.
But every label of people do this.
Both Instagram & tiktok are guilty of pushing the witchcraft aestetic

I think this is one of the most important videos you've made. I'm totally on board for a part 2!!
I agree, especially the part about modern occultists adopting the idea that there is no good or evil. That’s actually beyond problematic.
Who is to say what is good and evil? Is abortion evil?
@@MrEpz4321 When it is done because the child is female then yes it is evil and not in an edgy way but in a way that should be frowned upon and banned. You don't need a book to tell you that killing someone just because they are female, which is done in almost every case when a woman gets an abortion in countries like China, India, Pakistan, etc is wrong. I know evil when I see it, and so does everyone else at least before some gimp professor or political pundit tells them otherwise.

Hail, our beautiful pilgrim!
You are very correct and I hate the lies too! And I've spent so much time going back and forth with these liars over social media for so many years so so many years.
Is there a specific person you can't avoid without context!
Yess I don't think King Solomon actually existed...
Well said
I was curveballed by a Thelemite towards your channel
Yeah. Same. Confused. Glad I was brought up before the internet. It’s a Tower of Babel now.
Another excellent video! Much luv from Instagram my dear Georgina! Thank you for the words of wisdom.
I really appreciate your honesty and clarity. I will be spending the next few weeks devouring your videos. Thank you so much.

Thank you for making this. I was sick of hearing these things around internet as truth. Especially about evil and truth.
Oh, I never understood that, and it put me off. I think they are to proud to accept hierachy. I think "working with" is an attempt to equalize.

Absolutely 💯 agree with what you've said.
One of my favourite videos you've made so far!
So hype for the Shams video 😎🥳
The Path is way of Abraham, existential crisis, inquisitiveness, conlusion on life, submission to the Dao, construction & singing praise, it's basically leading a life of value & care, we should optimally be optimizing towards potential, and everything natural is gradually. One love ❤️

"Truth is a pathless land."
- J. Krishnamurti
The grand core of Krishnamurti’s teachings is his 1929 declaration of truth as a pathless land.
A modern day Bankei!
This is important
Following what others do is only "practice" if your desire is to become them.

I love everything you're saying in this video
Comes down to discernment, and reading > listening.
I make sure to use the word "worship" in regards to Lilith.
"To Know, To Dare, To Will, To Buy Merch"
Bless you sister 🤘 🔥
Thank you for pointing the facts and for coming forward with this material. It is what needs to happen in the pagan community more often 👏👏
"Not everyone is on your spiritual team." I think that's a great way of encapsulating many concepts.
I love this general topic. I am frustrated with many pagans because so many pagans think we are supposed to be hedonists or think "Do what though wilt." means "Do whatever you want, and fuck everyone else because I'm left hand path, and that means I'm better than people and beyond good and evil."
I mean, I think I'm "new to this stuff" and likely will always be in a fair few respects.
Well said. The all is one.💙❤💜🖤
The truth is the placebo effect is a measurable effect.

Preach!
Yup not everything is valid.
Something I think we all struggle with, not living up to someone else’s standards, but trying to live up to our own…
RE: "People assume that the ancient pagans and mystics agree to them politically..."
Before adopting any tradition, there's such a thing as due diligence.
That was helpful, thanks.
Thank you for this video.
personally, i do believe that morality and truth are both constructed by humans and are not absolute, but i do agree that the dominant understandings of these points are incredibly shallow and lead people to do things that harm themselves or others.
like in the case of morality, the way that i see it is less that good and evil are metaphysical eternals, but rather are narrative/rhetorical tools that humans have used throughout history to coerce people into certain patterns of behavior by way of labeling.
