The conversion from mesh to NURBS is much better in T-Splines, I'm not that impressed, because you can do this kind of modeling in other softwares like Blender that is even free... I hope they will implement and improve the conversion in making it more like T-Splines or even better.
So exciting to see this, thank you very much! the functionality that I used a lot with tsplines (before it expired and I lost it) was lofting curves together using tsplines' loft.. is there a rhino 7 subD equivalent of this yet?
Hi Nick, Yes, you can use the Loft command and set the output to SubD. Note that you can also draw curves with a 'SubD friendly' setting or Rebuild them to be SubD friendly in order to reduce changes in shape.
The conversion from mesh (SubD) to NURBS is much better in T-Spline, it does some kind of interpolation generating a cleaner model with less surfaces instead of converting each poligon in to a single surface... I really hope developers will improve conversion in that way: more like t-Splines or even better.
Nice feature, thanks for this breakdown. I used to use Rhino quite a bit but the linear/destructive workflow became a pain in the ass for me. I started using Fusion 360 because of that. I miss the variety of tools in Rhino though.
Use the command ExtractControlPolygon on the SubD in Rhino 7 and then export that as a mesh. Or use the Export command and choose OBJ format and then in the Mesh settings for the OBJ choose the Control Net option.
This stuff is in the Rhino 7 WIP or work in progress that you can install side by side with your Rhino 6, in fact you'll need your purchased v6 license to use it. There's no date set for the v7 release but the WIP updates usually every week if you want to try it out while it's in development.
Hello and Finalmente Gratis)) ,,now is the day, I receive an email if i like to buy Rhino 7 Full ,it is ready. Thank you for this Video ,Very helpful and I start watching your other new Videos)
Hi Moshe, There should be a SubD section to the New in v7 tab and a SubD menu. Please email tech@mcneel.com if you don't find these when launching the installed v7 WIP.
Yes! Have been looking forward to "native" SubD for 6 years!
Ever since TSplines tapped out to Autodesk I think we all have been waiting for this. Will be nice not to have Rhino5 installed simply for TSplines.
Thank You 🙏🏻

Outstanding
Great tutorial, thanks a lot!

We have Tsplines again! :D
Only way better.

GOOD STUFF
Will it still be nurbs?
Yes, you can use the command ToNURBS to create a NURBS polysrf from the SubD surface.
what subd

It is possible to get (a bit) non-linear workflow with Grasshopper

Buen video como podría instalar el programa para usar en el rhino por favor gracias
Does anybody know how to export object in flat mode?like low poly object with the sharp edges?
