Hi Safiya, my name is Jaclyn and I’ve been a fan since 2018. After watching your Japan video to the Spa theme park I just had to go so for my 13th birthday My mom took me to Japan and we went. It was such a cool experience and I want to thank you for showing me it. I just wanted to say hi and thank you for posting your videos. They give me lots of inspiration.❤❤
They are my comfort couple. If I had to bet money on a married couple staying strong till the end, I would bet on these two. They’re truly soulmates in my eyes!
Yes! Especially because it reminded me of the playdoh ice cream maker machine that had a spaghetti extruder like attachment and I always wanted to try ice cream in weird shapes as a result
@hgp2461i just wanted to say I expected it to be chestnut! We have the chestnut noodles desert here in Austria! We serve it with vanilla icecream and Sourcherries! It is called "Maronireis" and you get it usually in the fall/christmas time!
YES SAFIYA!!! Part two ALWAYS PLEASE. There are so many different viral Japanese desserts. I'd love to see you go to one of the anime or cartoon popup cafes but I understand that can be difficult to arrange
Those "pillows" look absolutely amazing, but I feel as an avid crocheter and knitter I'm obligated to point out that those are made to look like knitting, not crochet. They still look incredible though ❤️
ah someone else said it!! thank you, I wanted to point it out too without possibly being repetitive... In case anyone's curious, knitting is done with two needles and can be machine-replicated, crochet is with one hook that cannot be machine-replicated therefore signaturely handmade
14:10 every clip show describes them as crochet, so it's no wonder it's still being perpetuated as that, but that is in fact imitating knitting, and some of them even appear to have cable patterns on them which is very cool!
Nerd time: there is a crochet technique (split single crochet/"knit stitch") that can achieve the knitted look of the desserts, even the cable pattern, so *technically* either could be correct. I know the folks calling it crochet probably don't know that, but we can dream right? LOL
@CaptainStixzTunisian crochet also has stitches that can be mistaken for knit or purl stitches. Plus there are a few languages that use the same word for knitting and crochet.
japaneat is my favorite source when it comes to trendy japanese foods, he actively mocks the people that buy those nasty egg pancakes and go "omg guys i found the best dessert in japan" and hes very honest about what stuff tastes like, plus his videos are super funny lots of random references to old school runescape
I always seem to come across this channel when I'm a mild inconvenience away from a mental breakdown, rushing to get an assignment submitted in time, or deathly ill, and honestly I really appreciate it. It's very comforting.
Saf and Ty's vids have gotten me through many a dark time. Cozy vibes, a genuinely lovely couple, and a little adventure makes for perfect comfort content ❤
11:37 the whipped cream in the whipped cream sandwich is probably stabilized whipped cream. It’s made by beating fully bloomed gelatin into the cream as it’s being whipped
It feels the most natural in a weird way lol I know what you mean That human aspect that you would often have in old videos filmed of friends hanging out and laughing
I love how you shared that there is a second cone for filming purposes. Transparency is always appreciated but it’s also cool to hear how the filming process goes :) thanks for sharing! 7:16
i think we take safs commentary for granted because not only is it succinct and informative but very well crafted and entertaining! kudos to the producers and everyone behind the scenes as well!
6:43 i have been watching safiya for probably 10 years at this point and it’s still hilariously jarring to hear them making more “adult” jokes recently. It’s like overhearing your aunt talk about her one night stand
I feel like once she had her own base of subscribers it started pretty quick, maybe we’re finally all just old enough to understand. I mean she has been talking about birkins for years now so that may say something about missed adult humor
It makes me so happy whenever Safiya pulls a video from the vault for b roll. I go back to those Tyler Williams videos so often (especially the capsule hotel one!) and seeing how far they both come is so inspiring.
18:14 idk why her asking if they should start a wrap around and then saying “maybe here could be good?” And then they get moved not long after😭😂 it’s so funny to me idk why
I am so grateful that many moons ago, you switched over to doing your own thing on YT. Hands down my most favorite channel on here. In other words, YES WE WANT PART 2 😂
Saf has gotta be my *favorite* parasocial relationship. Like, you can absolutely see the production and effort in the editing, but it still feels like watching a couple of good friends go on vacation. That said, keeping all these stops in mind for my Japan Honeymoon!
its so cool to me that you're having your honeymoon in japan. question tho cause im really curious: do you think it would be scary to have your honeymoon in a different country? ( im assuming that you are a japan fan but not actually japanese but idk maybe u r japanese)
@ivypanda3594 I won’t lie, I am a lil nervous! Neither me or my fiancé are Japanese, but I have an auntie and uncle who live in Gifu and my fiancés dad frequently travels to Japan for business! So we won’t be totally unprepared I think? Safiyas videos also have been giving us ideas for activities.
@ivypanda3594 I feel like most people honeymoon in countries that are different to their own. To me that's kind of the whole point - experience something new and once-in-a-lifetime with your new partner. Particularly if you come from a small country, exploring other cultures is so much fun! I am not from the USA, but from what I understand it is a very big country, so maybe travelling to the other side is different enough for you, but for me, a honeymoon is all about trying something new.
I love how respectful Safiya and her team are when traveling. It makes me want a video about travel Vlogging etiquette. I want to learn how the sausage gets made!
I specifically looked for your comment to reply to instead of the bot's. 😅 I agree with your statement! f.e. at @5:20, they mention specifically that they asked the shop's permission to film on the public street outside of their shop. Why would that be a polite thing to ask? Asking to film IN the shop I get, but outside? I did read somewhere that in Japan it is deemed to be improper to eat something in the street (out in the open), but I see Safiya and Tyler do that a lot and I don't think they would do this if it was really considered improper. So the question remains: why ask for permission to film outside of the shop?
X pastry chef here the fabric texture that’s on the little crocheted pillows is cocoa butter. That’s been sprayed on with an airbrush. Fun and fascinating would love to see a second one or even savory food one.
* knitted 🙈 the pattern is knit, not crochet I'm very sorry to correct you. As a crocheter it's just really bugging me, that so many people use the wrong term

"Cream sandwiches" was a new one on me, had never encountered anything like that! Interesting to see how the dessert designers clearly have social media aesthetics very much in mind, but also seem to have put a fair amount of effort into trying to find good balances of flavors, textures etc.
As a HUGE fan of mont blanc, enjoy it while you can in Japan! It's usually a seasonal winter item and so difficult to find in the US, even in a big city with Japanese and French bakeries. They're 95% whipped cream with the thinnest veil of chestnut paste, which is significantly more expensive than whipped cream 😅
23:29 The flowers looks more like white bean paste than red bean paste to me (made with lima beans instead of adzuki beans), it tends to be milder than red bean paste and a lot more viable for flavoring & coloring (:
I was also thinking the flowers are most likely white bean paste for the sake of color/flavor and because the white flower's flavor is listed as "basic white beans"
It is white bean paste, if you pause to read the menu it says it. Also with the color of red beans it’s not really possible to have white or yellow flowers
@abbie6180no, white bean paste can be made with various kinds of white beans, maangchi a Korean cook used Lima beans for manju, a Japanese woman named Oishii makes white bean paste with cannellini beans, and you eat mung bean paste etc. As long as it’s white and a bean I’m sure it can be used.
4:47 just so y'all know: ALL GOLD IS EDIBLE. the only reason they say "edible gold" is because otherwise those goldy looking flakes are most likely brass.
"Hey, that's pretty. Let me put it in my mouth", I immediately thought of how Tyler is constantly protecting her from herself 😂😅 maybe I'm alone on this, but I don't recall ever having that opinion. It's usually, "hey, that's pretty. I DON'T want to eat it" 😅
From living in one of Japan's largest chestnut-producing regions... I could see that mont blanc coming a mile away in both cases. And the flowers are likely a nerikiri, a white bean paste, rather than red. Red bean paste wouldn't take on those pastel colours very well, whereas nerikiri is made to do it, and many colourful little wagashi are hand-sculpted out of it.
someone reply to this with the official pigeon count 🦤 (there is no pigeon emoji) EDIT: i have been alerted to the presence of this emoji: 🐦 - it's very good
I loved this so much, it felt like a casual side quest of you two sneaking away from your producers to eat ice cream. Please do more vids like this, please do more travel side quests
This is a common compliment in East/South East Asia, but definitely not in South Asia, which are her actual roots. A lot of our desserts can be overwhelmingly sweet and we love that 🫢
Tbh I feel like if this ends up turning into a sometimes vlog channel, it just works, not only are your crafts fun to watch, but just seeing you 2 go to cool places and try all the interesting food is always entertaining. Been watching since buzzfeed and I have loved seeing your channel grow over time!
HOLY SHIT! You said “I’ve been FIGURATIVELY dying to try them”! !!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!! ONLY INFLUENCER EVER WHO DOESN’T MISUSE THE WORD “literally”?!?!?? *THANK YOU! You have earned my full respect.*
4:00 in Germany, we've actually had something like the Matcha noodles for DECADES - it's called Spaghettieis. Except it's actually gelato shaped to look like spaghetti and served with strawberry sauce as it's "salsa"😊 It's so interesting how things that are normal to one group of people randomly go viral and then you'll see them replicated all over the world
I used to live in Germany and would go for spaghettieis often when you get the cream on top aswell and it freezes a little was always my favourite bit .
Not only does it have "tomato sauce" (strawberry jelly sauce) but "parmesan" that is made of white chocolate shavings Oh and the noodles are vanilla flavored (unless you choose differently)😅
You know Safiya made it as a travel content creator when she is sponsored by Saily. Also ABSOLUTELY would love a part two. I love when you and Tyler try foods!
About the pillow , it's definitely made with a mold an "entremet" basically you fill the mold layers after layers then freeze and demold before adding the fabric fuzzy coating, which most likely is "flocage/flocking" which from what I remember from my pastry obsession is indeed a power sprayed on the entremet (based out of cacao butter I think but I might be wrong it's been years since I brushed on this particular thing)
As someone who crochets and knits and comes from a long line of crocheters and knitters, her using crochet and knit interchangeably was driving me bat shit insane
OMG thank you 😅 I feel like it's a mistranslation for the bakery to be using "crochet," but like the other commenter said, the interchangeable terms was sending me
As someone who does neither I didn’t know. Could you explain? Is it the method/technique? Like an over-under vs something else? I’m genuinely curious not trying to be rude
Hi Safiya, French viewer here! First, so happy to see a video from you for my lunch break 🥰Love ALL your videos, you're my absolute favorite content creator all over the World Wild Web! And second, what you call "Mont-Blanc", chestnut puree, is actually called "crème de marrons" (so chestnut cream or puree) and Mont-Blanc is actually a dessert with meringue, whipped cream, and these chestnut cream spaghettis that you have on your matcha cone. Mont-Blanc is light, creamy and delicious and Angelina in Paris (another viral place) is famous for it. Also it's pronounced "mon - blan" (final consonants are totally mute... sorry for a famously illogical language but we French love it in spite of all 😅). I didn't know the Japanese were so much into chestnut cream but, hey, they have good taste, so not so surprising 😉 Love you and Tyler, thank you so much to both of you for the great videos, so entertaining but also always so informative about the trends and what's going on in the internet and in the minds of people! I genuinely think they help us better understand our contemporary world. I almost reacted under the croissant video (but was too horrified by the Denver croissants which look delicious but to me are NOT croissants :D ) so now seemed the good moment for french food info. Sending lots of love from France!
I've always found it interesting how Japan and Korea make a twist on French desserts, pastries, flavors, etc. The Mont-Blanc/ crème de marrons in Saf's video, and the line of Korean Bakeries- "Paris Baguette" and "Tous les Jours" are great examples of this! We have these French- inspired Korean bakeries in the US, as well and they are delicious- but not fully French or fully Korean baked goods- kinda like a combo of both!
Autre cas célèbre : ce que nous appelons シュークリーム (shūkurīmu) vient de « chou à la crème ».
Whenever I see another Japan video from Safiya, my mind is always going "Go back to a capsule hotel! It could be a video on its own to find and compare luxury capsule hotels in Japan!" 💖💙🖤🥰
Forgot about this chick.. when I seen the video in my feed , I automatically thought it was an old video form 7 years ago or something.. but no.. it was two days ago.. and I’m shocked.. she’s never aged a day of her life.

yum! part 2 plss! 😊
💯 part 2 pls
logistically, i am fascinated how many simultaneous projects you have been filming while traveling lol
Same! I feel like they plan out all the different projects they would like to do as they plan the trip…
Right and I'm trying to figure out if it's all the same trip?
Yeah, how about a video that shows how they make videos
Well they do have a team of people not just the two of them planning content so that prolly helps
She’s using your money to do it too - it doesn’t cost her ANYTHING
I really can’t believe you turned one trip into months of content. Props to you and your production team for this level of planning.
lol wrong place, wrong message.
@magslight3728why??
@yiks because the blue zone is the only good thing about Japan and what Vygaard is promoting is the not good part of Japan.
@magslight3728you call her by her last name? Lol
@teehee.1862 Not even correctly lol
When are RUclipsrs going to learn- whenever there’s a possibility of a part two, the answer will always be *YES!*
They want the comments telling them to do it though 😅
More comments so it pushes the video🫡
clanker
😂
The fact that Safiya and Tyler are still side by side after all these years, and still having adventures brings me so much joy.
Umm. They are married.
@shirldayneeebeing married doesn’t guarantee staying together
@shirldayneeeMost people marry the wrong person, especially influences, so it's just nice seeing true lasting love
Yeah, it's honestly so nice to see 😊
They are my comfort couple. If I had to bet money on a married couple staying strong till the end, I would bet on these two. They’re truly soulmates in my eyes!
did anyone else think the matcha noodles were ice cream and were disappointed when they weren't 😭

Yes I was like wow cool ice cream o god it’s not ❤
Yeah, I thought it was ice cream that just looked like noodles for aesthetics especially with it being in the cone
I was fully prepared for the flowers to be made out of Mont Blanc 😂
hahaha same!!! I was like "are all of the desserts going to be chestnut?!?!"
It is still made out of paste but red bean paste
YES SAFIYA!!! Part two ALWAYS PLEASE. There are so many different viral Japanese desserts. I'd love to see you go to one of the anime or cartoon popup cafes but I understand that can be difficult to arrange
i immediately thought of emirichu lol
Part 2 please safiya!!

i agree with this person
Those "pillows" look absolutely amazing, but I feel as an avid crocheter and knitter I'm obligated to point out that those are made to look like knitting, not crochet. They still look incredible though ❤️
They're very adorable... look like they were probably made using a mold?
as a crocheter myself I was thinking the same thing
OH THANK GOD I WAS LOSING MY MIND.
ah someone else said it!! thank you, I wanted to point it out too without possibly being repetitive...
In case anyone's curious, knitting is done with two needles and can be machine-replicated, crochet is with one hook that cannot be machine-replicated therefore signaturely handmade
I came here to say the exact same thing. Lol. Sorry, Saf! But us yarn art folks are VERY particular about our crafts!
14:10 every clip show describes them as crochet, so it's no wonder it's still being perpetuated as that, but that is in fact imitating knitting, and some of them even appear to have cable patterns on them which is very cool!
One of my most irrational pet peeves is people mixing up crochet and knitting lol
She kept calling it both crochet and knit, and it was really irking me 😂

i love japaneat!! his cream sandwich video sealed the deal on us going to age.3!!
I love his videos
but I do have to laugh because somehow no matter what he gets, it almost always has melted cheese and usually a runny-yolk egg as well.
jesus im playing old school runescape while i read this comment

Working night shift to cover for a few days, this is keeping me going. (Normally I’m morning shift)
exact same situation :)

24:15 The official name for Safiya fans. Goth beans 😂

Approved!! Saf approved!
😂😂😂
11:37 the whipped cream in the whipped cream sandwich is probably stabilized whipped cream. It’s made by beating fully bloomed gelatin into the cream as it’s being whipped
Oh wow, I never knew that! That’s really cool ngl
i thought the same or it might be a stiff-peak whipped cream or a heavy cream
For making sandos a lot of recipes suggest like 4 parts cream and 1 part mascarpone.
i love tyler's filming style . he just zooms in all the time its such a breath of fresh air compared to what normal camera men do
Tyler just does what we want to do.
It feels the most natural in a weird way lol
I know what you mean
That human aspect that you would often have in old videos filmed of friends hanging out and laughing
He films in old RUclips style not like these overstimulating new ones
@ThehappyrebornsYES EXACTLY YOU NAILED IT thats what makes it so nice to see
that HORRIBLE jarring noise and zoom that joshua weissman puts over every bite makes me so anxious i can’t watch his content

diva we don’t just NEED a part two, we need a nationwide food tour and you’re just the gal who can do it 💅
YES I LOVE THIS FORMAT AND THIS TYPE OF CONTENT !!! shorts form is not enough and it fries my brain
we love short form but we cannot subsist on short form alone 🫡

the only thing we missed on our japan trip this year was another capsule hotel night!!!!! we gotta go back 🛌
I've been rewatching Tyler's videos too! Even started all the way back to the TIY episodes.
I’ve fallen asleep to that capsule hotel video more than once, the the vibes are incredible
7:53 Safiya likes Shakira!

Literally ALWAYS a Part 2 of ANYTHING you or Tyler feel compelled to make & share with us!

was checking to see if someone said this! as someone who does this for a living right now, yeah I i immediately knew these cakes were sprayed haha 😂
YES it's a technics called " spray velour" or " velvet spray"
* knitted 🙈 the pattern is knit, not crochet
I'm very sorry to correct you. As a crocheter it's just really bugging me, that so many people use the wrong term
thank you for this comment bc i was just wondering how they got that texture and what it was made of since it didn't look like fondant or frosting
I bet the cream sandwiches would be a huge hit at a state fair. The portability and low mess would make excellent fair-walking food!

I initially thought it was going to be fondant, so bean paste sounds miles better. 😅
RUclips shorts existence finally validated
someone reply to this with the official pigeon count 🦤 (there is no pigeon emoji)
EDIT: i have been alerted to the presence of this emoji: 🐦 - it's very good

My internal anxiety IBD freaks out watching videos like this.
I miss being able to eat random crazy things in public.
Same
I have GERD and anything with matcha in it is a no go. Idk why. Every time I have matcha it hurts me
4:38 oh they KNOW what the influencers are there for
Safiya please never stop making long form videos. We love them and always look forward to them
12:20 LITTLE BIG PLANET MUSICCC
20:40 sloppy sue
I loved this so much, it felt like a casual side quest of you two sneaking away from your producers to eat ice cream. Please do more vids like this, please do more travel side quests
Man, I miss Japan.
10:43, "the desert is not that sweet". Safiya's Asian Heritage really come out during the tasting. 😂
This is a common compliment in East/South East Asia, but definitely not in South Asia, which are her actual roots. A lot of our desserts can be overwhelmingly sweet and we love that 🫢
@spc1346 oh yes, we really prefer the deserts to have the pure sugary taste 😅
@spc1346overwhelmingly sweet you say? Is there such a thing? 🤔😂
7:33 Well done woman, well done
Tyler please😂😭
i was just about to rewatch one of saf’s videos (for the millionth time) and ended up accidentally being early for this one ✨
The velvet effect in the pillows is probably made by spray painting them with chocolate while they're frozen. It's a widely used pastry technique 😊
Short form video is just another indicator that as a whole, we have have no attention spans, and even more wanting of instant gratification.
Always LOVE Safiya’s Japan content! Because unlike other content creators, she is actually respectful and educational.
7:51 I appreciate the Shakira quote.
you actually NEED to make part two
This is the earliest I’ve ever been to her videos and I’ve been watching for years
ive been in a Japanese food hyperfixation lately I want all of those desserts omg😭
Japanese desserts are on another level: soft, cute, and somehow taste like happiness itself!
Now it’s time to mix and melt all the japanese desserts and try it
👏👏👏😂 fuck
the way i was just thinking i hope they upload soon
HOLY SHIT! You said “I’ve been FIGURATIVELY dying to try them”! !!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!! ONLY INFLUENCER EVER WHO DOESN’T MISUSE THE WORD “literally”?!?!?? *THANK YOU! You have earned my full respect.*
I'm not going to lie, when Safia said to Tyler 'Can you munch this rug for me?' my mind went elsewhere.
4:00 in Germany, we've actually had something like the Matcha noodles for DECADES - it's called Spaghettieis. Except it's actually gelato shaped to look like spaghetti and served with strawberry sauce as it's "salsa"😊
It's so interesting how things that are normal to one group of people randomly go viral and then you'll see them replicated all over the world
German here! That’s the first thing this made me think about!! 😂
Probably a better option for people like me who don’t like matcha, too.
I used to live in Germany and would go for spaghettieis often when you get the cream on top aswell and it freezes a little was always my favourite bit .
good news for all the people who were disappointed that the matcha stuff wasnt icecream spaghetti
Bad news for people who want to film Spaghettieis: The place where it was invented (Fontanella in Mannheim) closed down last year
Not only does it have "tomato sauce" (strawberry jelly sauce) but "parmesan" that is made of white chocolate shavings
Oh and the noodles are vanilla flavored (unless you choose differently)😅
love a 2025 glozell reference
You know Safiya made it as a travel content creator when she is sponsored by Saily.
Also ABSOLUTELY would love a part two. I love when you and Tyler try foods!
You know it’s a good day when Safiya posts!
Not the Glowzell cinnamon challenge reference!
Safiya, it's never a question: we *always* want a part 2!!! 🖤
12:03 - “Oh. You got cinnamon challenged.” mad 2013 flashbacks. 😂
😂😂
🎉🎉🎉Part2 part2. Part 2 part 2🎉🎉🎉 pls pls pls!!!!!
17:05 I EAT STICKERS ALL THE TIME DUDE!
About the pillow , it's definitely made with a mold an "entremet" basically you fill the mold layers after layers then freeze and demold before adding the fabric fuzzy coating, which most likely is "flocage/flocking" which from what I remember from my pastry obsession is indeed a power sprayed on the entremet (based out of cacao butter I think but I might be wrong it's been years since I brushed on this particular thing)
part 2 please
10:48 I love the pigeon in the background waiting for you guys to drop something!
It's 10:22. Sleep can wait.
It's lunchtime in Australia. It's not usually this perfect for us down here 😂
It's 4:45 a.m. in Belgium and I can't sleep. But I'm enjoying this video 😃
it was 7:22pm for me. Saf posted right when i just got my dinner. it was great :)
It was also 10:22pm for me here in New York.
It's 3:37am rn here in Michigan US. I can't sleep so I'm watching it lol
I'm still waiting for them to use the warehouse they build outside of just the chair and white sheet behind it.
SAFIYA POSTED!!!
6:10 “Can you smile for me….
😄😐🤨…no” 😂😂😂
You are filling a hole in my heart that eyk used to in 2015 ❤
Me screaming at the screen at 13:47 : that's knit and not crochet. While crochet and knit but use yarn, they are absolutely not the same thing.
Same! Tiktok really ruined the public understanding of knit craft
@Ross1984. knitting and crochet are two entirely different crafts that both use yarn.
idc that i have a class first thing in the morning. college is temporary, safiya is forever.
I’m literally doing the same thing rn
10:15 bahaha you get a free BOX if you buy 3 sandwiches that’s crazy
Merci d’avoir écrit le commentaire qu’on a tous•tes pensé 😌💜
PART TWO
The list of things I need to put in my mouth grows ever longer 😩😩
🤨
I love how honest all this reviews are. Because I wanted to try these but at least I can see which ones I can skip now based on personal preference!
Please make part 2
Your videos are comforting.
I haven't seen any of these desserts on the Internet, but I love it when Safiya takes us on little adventures to try something new!
Forgot about this chick.. when I seen the video in my feed , I automatically thought it was an old video form 7 years ago or something.. but no.. it was two days ago.. and I’m shocked.. she’s never aged a day of her life.
