    Totally new to land development here. How do estimate costs for grading/leveling land? Is it possible to get estimates Belle buying the property?

      This is a tough question. Only because you can't really find this out until you have some sort of rough grading design, which comes from the engineer. Only then can you truly know what areas of your land will need to be cut or filled and the total yardage of the dirt that would need to be exported or imported. There's just so much that plays into that rough grading cost.
      And even then, you'd also need a geotechnical engineer to do a soils analysis on your land. Because you might find out that the top layer of your property is unsuitable to be reused. Or maybe it's rock underneath that will require blasting. I am talking about extremes here, but anything can happen. Now if your property is relatively flat, then grading might not be a big issue at all. It's when you're looking at a property with a lot of grade changes then that's when all these things really come into play. AND THE SIZE AS WELL! If you're looking at .25 ac vs 10 acres, then obviously that'll determine the level of analysis you'll want/need prior to pulling the trigger on purchasing the project.
      In the end, you might be able to get some very rough cost estimates from graders by just having them physically take a look at it. But just know that the number can change wildly. But it's better than nothing if you're building up a cost estimate. Hope that helps!

      When you're done with construction, ultimately you'll walk away from the project and the utility companies/municipalities will take over the systems (i.e. water, sewer, storm drain, electrical, etc.). But before those utility companies officially take ownership of it, they want to inspect and ensure that everything has been installed correctly and per code before they take over. "Bought it off" is just another way of saying that they've approved and accepted the system.
