- Learn to identify the four layers of the esophagus, the three sublayers of the mucosa and muscularis externa, as well as the structures and tissue types in each layer.
Visible structures/landmarks: mucosa: (stratified squamous, lamina propria, muscularis mucosae), submucosa, muscularis externa (longitudinal and circular layer) and adventitia.
Good video. You speak clearly, explain well, and these slides are top quality
For the submucosa: Some sources say dense irregular CT and others will say loose CT or areolar CT. Please refer back to the notes from your university!
Thanks for this excellent video. I can not understand in the class but im feeling like im so curious about histology with your explanation.
Thank you for thisss ! great explanation and good quality slides !
You're very welcome! Each of those images is actually 15-20 individual shots of a slide that was then stitched together by a program...it's nice to know I'm not the only one that appreciates how beautifully they turned out!
@@AnatomyHero Of course yes! I've started med school with the rise of COVID-19 thus we weren't allowed to use microscopes at all for our two first years , it's a shame really, So I've searched RUclips for some good shots and these were the best I've found ✨✨
Isn't it loose convective tissue in submukoza? Instead of dense irregular ct
Oh noo! You are 100% correct. Sorry about that!
Good luck in your studies, hope you still found other parts of the video useful.
@@AnatomyHero yes thank you
@@3bdulkaderasmarUpdate: This kept bugging me because the submucosa LOOKS like dense irregular even though when I checked my anatomy textbook it said loose CT and most online sources said loose CT. So, I looked at my actually histology book and it said dense irregular CT.
I have found that sometimes sources disagree on the types of connective tissue, definitely something to keep in mind while learning histology!
@@AnatomyHero actually all the sources on yt are saying that its irregular but in my book it says loose ct i dont know its source its just my faculty's book (belgrade university) but anyway thank you for looking for it
i hope our doctor learn from u how teatching
The slide of esophagus and ureter are almost similar......how can i differentiate between the two
get a few examples of each and look at them all side by side, the ureter has a proportionally smaller lumen and also far less layers. The esophagus has: two distinct layers of the muscularis exerna, the muscularis mucosae (a sublayer of the mucosa) and submucosa whereas the ureter only has one layer of muscle and no submucosa
