Very interesting, many thanks! The IJN is not very well covered on RUclips. It demands another play style than other nations, as you explained. I will research the IJN now, I already have an excellent air force there. Cheers from Germany!
You literally have to play them as intended in real life. The early cruisers are purely reliant on hunting destroyers or using torpedos. Once you unlock the 20.3cm APHE on the late cruisers you can delete everyone 🤣
OMFG that Moffet xD - tfw they're so scared of the long lance spam they literally crawl ashore to get away from it. These tactics are brutal, especially on the right map- I submitted a replay to Thunder Show (but never got featured) where I used the Shimakaze to saturate the two main choke points in the middle of the South Africa map. About 6 minutes later I killed 7 heavy cruisers within a 15 second window.

Thank you mate. I appreciate it. I did forget to mention that torpedo depth is super important too. If you're fighting destroyers and larger always use 4m depth. It is nearly always a guaranteed kill. Useless against coastal vessels though
@@CmdrTyraelI am glad I stumbled upon this comment!:) So what is the difference there? Shorter detection range? Circumventing torpedo protection belts?
@@CmdrTyrael I found out it could depend on the map. My torpedoes often hit shallows when I launched them close to island, so with 1m depth they could fit in spaces they wouldn't be able to with 4m, I think

Amazing vid quick question which mode is better for grinding naval? For some reason i find arcade to be better because faster matches. Another question is that are there any special keybinds/ control we should adjust before playing naval?
In my opinion RB is the best mode. Worth the 4 min wait time. The rewards are much higher. My average game earns 50k per match. As for special key binds. I recommend watching my gunnery guide if you haven't already. It can be useful to have your radar to tools bound to separate keys. For ships that have them
@@CmdrTyrael SL rewards are higher but AB is much better for grinding. Also, don't forget to bring a fighter and a strike plan; it's up to two extra spawns.
Make sure to always set them to 4m depth. They do max damage and are invisible to the enemy in RB. They just don't work against coastal boats at that depth. That's what guns are for though
Torpedo mode is only really useful when it gives a poor torpedo some extra range. If your using Japan don't bother with it. If your using a nation with shirt range torps, it may be worth it.
@@FirstLast-cg9ic Italian DD's have fast short range torpedos (4km), when you add torpedo mode it stretches it out to 10km. So it would be more suited for this tactic.
" *Shoot without alignment* " allows you to fire some of your main guns before they are lined up with the target. This can be useful at times when you need to react quickly and fire on a nearside target. Otherwise it can cause you to fire early before the gun is truly aligned with the target and cause a wild shot. Choose whichever seems to have more use for you. I turn this option ON personally. Thanks for the comment mate o7
The further away the ship is, the less likely you are to score a hit. Any course or speed changes will cause it to miss. That's why it's best to lay a spread across the indicator at different points. Or to just use the indicator as an approximate guide to the ships course. The closer you are,the more likely the hit thus, the indicator is most useful for torpedo boats at point blank.
Trying to get better with my torpedo discipline instead of spamming them out at the start. Japanese ships have such a weird playstyle. Like in 10 matches in the Isuzu I have fifteen kills and only two deaths. The secondaries help immensely with PT boats and just saturating and frustrating DD's that get too close.
I have a video all about their fighting style ruclips.net/video/XOH1tyTxqis/видео.html But in short form. Their destroyers rely on torpedo kills and ambush gunnery. Their cruisers hit hard, are accurate and are designed to directly support destroyers. (Fast and armoured against DD's) Basically backline and stealth play.
I like the Japanese Navy and the Destroyers, but i need more practice with the Torpedo Doctrine... I rarely hit anything and they really hate beeing shot at. At 4.7 now and only got 13 kills total with the Torpedos. German destroyers are a lot more forgiving and can take more punishment before sinking, so i play them more risky and get more torp kills while knife fighting around islands
It is hard adapting a torpedo doctrine into a gun meta, but once you have a good sense of when you can be seen and what the enemy are doing. You can lay some effective spreads. Playing Germany like you do is the first step. They have great destroyers for torpedo brawls and this is the first step to going all in with long lance.
