I didn't know shadowing was a technique. I use Longman Dictionary on my phone which has pronounced example sentences in the British RP accent,which is my target accent . So I usually try to pronounce the sentences first,then listen to them,and see to if I sounded like the speaker. Helps me know I if I made any mistakes , too.. . It's also a good way to improve your intonation,which is an aspect of English that not a lot of teachers put emphasis on
