This video is so great! I used to work with Tom! We worked for the same tour company! And once I was singing in a cabaret and he was performing comedy in the space below! He's a cool dude!:)
Now look, it's like this - You 2 collab'ing is what so many of us get up for - These need to be their own BIG thing !!! No diss to Phil - actually - All 3 of you, is NYC personified for me !
thank you, Tom & Ken! i haven't been down to chinatown in yonks. miss it like the heck. i used to go twice a month before the damn demic to get my asian groceries and fresh fish/seafood...
I watched this RUclips with pleasure .It was very nice,I went China town 25 years ago with my family. It was a nice memory for me ,I ‘like to go again! Thank you so much, guys.
Loved this walk! Great to see you and Tom together. I enjoyed hearing all the history behind these neighborhoods and Tom has a fantastic knowledge of it all. I especially like Old China Town. The way they have decorated the streets with colored lanterns makes it cheerful and it gives great vibes. Thankyou AK, to you and Tom for a fun walk around. Loved it!
AWESOME when the nyc RUclips streamers collaborate. You all are tight and don’t worry about competition. Not only that, you help each other. Way to go.
Tom is a cool dude! I enjoyed your walk together. At one point i felt a funny vibe like a friendly competition of who knows more info :) You have a bro chemistry :) You said in description that Tom turned inot a comedian. My first impression of him was that he resembles an actor attitude. :) Maybe because his voice is strong and confident. Anyway, i still like you more :)) No walker like ActionKiddie! Blessings!
i wished i was there behind you guys i probably enjoy listening and walking too at the same time what a nice afternoon. Thank you for posting this video 👍🥰
I've seen a lot of your videos, but I can't remember, have you done a Staten Island Ferry ride video? I remember seeing you on it during a hurricane last summer (first video I saw of yours), but have you filmed the whole ride?
Great Content! The picture quality on this is insane! watching on my big screen, way better then my Netflix & satellite. it’s like I am right there. So much detail, would love to know what camera is used to film this
“The Jewish Forward,” was the 1st newspaper to print everything in Yiddish, for ALL the Jews who had immigrated from Eastern Europe, because they couldn’t speak nor read any English (and their mother tongue spoken in the homes, was Yiddish)
The Elizabeth Center (EC) is still around. But it's changed over the last 10 years due to high rent. There's a store or two that sell stuffed animals and/or jewelry. I hope this helps you.
instant classic....instant i tells yas'.....this is great...really great...good job...thank you..keep it going...seeing the other new yorkers walking about doing there bidness is also cool...the history of the buildings and the streets makes it coherent...fantastic...cool as rick & morty...
The Chinese bus I take from DC-> NYC drops us off on Allen St. I wanted to go to Nom Wah Tea but was short on $ at the time so we skiooed it. Little did I know I skipped Doyers St so I have to make sure I see it next trip. Thanks you guys. Very knowledgeable Guides. We were also there when Weinstein was being tried as well and a black unmarked SUV went by with escorts
@25:00 on your left was a famous Arcade Place. It used to have all kinds of arcade machines. Now, it's converted into one of those toy winning ticket machine places. It used to have a box with a live chicken inside. Used to play the Simpsons Arcade, Street Fighter 2 and all kinds of games there. Spent like 10 dollars each time I went there. Great memories.
You walked right past ChinaTown Fair! I was so curious to hear what history you mightve had to share about that arcade! Back in the day it was home to a "dancing chicken."
Walked down Canal so many times over the years, but haven't been to NYC since before the pandemic. I'm amazed at the lack of people out on the streets. I remembered it being absolutely packed. Also, Joe's Shanghai is no longer on Pell? Soup dumplings was always a tradition when visiting the city.
Don't forget there's Bayard Street home to a lot of bubble tea shops. There's two libraries on East Broadway. Grand Street is a busy street where many locals go. There's so many supermarkets that many locals shop for fruits, vegetables and meats, etc
36:02 Actually, they never turn the fountain on in Collect Pond park, not even in the summer. There's an installation of small jets toward the southeast side, and those can be operated by passers-by when the water is on.
Thank you for a most informative video. May dad stated to us once that the best Chinatown restaurants in the 1980's were those in the ground floors not above ground. Does this continue to be true?
I had a teacher in college who took us on a tour of Chinatown-for our Urban Anthropology class-and he referred to the "pagoda" building at 15:30 as "the Disneylandization of Chinatown architecture."
Enjoyed the China town collaboration. I wonder if the Columbus park should change its name. Be nice to see it go with the bad history to native peoples. Let the community rename it.
Man if history class was like this kids would be really into it! When I was in Mexico I met Chinese living there. I asked how their families ended up there and they said they built the railroads and when they were finished were kicked out of the USA and fled to Mexico which was very welcoming to them. Quite interesting history...
Lovely to see two young people chatting about the history and showing us all around the place they love in NYC. Thanks ActionKid 👍😊
Tom is just a wealth of information. He's a cool dude. I like the two of you on this video.
Tom is a walking encyclopedia. It’s astonishing how he retains all that information.
