Yet another example of why fanatism is so dangerous.
@@overwhelmingconundrum4327 I am going to assume that comment was a joke.
@@overwhelmingconundrum4327 In other words you are just trolling. Got it.
In this case it's illiteracy and authoritarianism. Illiterate people can't read the Bible to come to the conclusion that this is not from the Bible and goes against the Bible. The people in power use widespread illiteracy of followers to convince them to do unbiblical acts- wars for conquest, slavery, torture to obtain confession or punish, death penalty for sins, etc.
@@user-ly3li3ex8c Well, illiteracy and authoritarianism are common companions of fanaticism, and for good reason. However, you could come to the same conclusions from reading the bible. It is all up to wich texts you choose to focus on. The book is so full of contradictions that it is impossible not to cherry pick. Sometimes it is about peace and love (with caveats) and sometimes the message is shame, hate and violence. Not really surprising, as it is a collection of texts by different authors with different views.
@@torbjornlekberg7756 What you say comes from a lack of biblical literacy to read the Bible in context and not knowing the the impact of Christianity on nations when literacy was spread by Christians so people can read the Bible for themselves instead of the cherry picked scripture by those in power for their own agendas.
The fact that those people could do such horrendous things to anyone... even suspected devil-worshipping child killers, just shows how depraved and evil they were. If hell is real, I'm sure those torturers and accusers are burning in it.
It hasn't really changed.
Even today, in the US, people who are coming to seek a better life are labelled "rapists and murderers." They're treated like shit and exploited for political gain - such as when that governor sent a planeload to Martha's Vineyard.
Immigrants are attacked. So are Jews and Muslims. Even those identified as "Democrats" are being treated as sub-human who run child sex rings out of pizza parlors.
And millions and millions truly believe the lies.
The sadism showed by the execution method is extreme. It almost makes hanging, drawing and quartering look merciful.
Can't even imagine being 10 and being on one's own. Many people can't take care of themselves as adults. Sad.
Keep in mind that 10 years old in the 16th century is very, very different than a 10 year old today. They would have been working with the rest of the family at the business the family did for at lest 5-6 years by that point. I am not saying it would be easy, but they would at least have had a chance.
Back then, kids were kids for like, what, three days? Then it's off to adulthood
@@codymegehee299 To a degree, Our idea of kid and adult is different than what has existed throughout most humans history.
Genghis Khan was hunting game and killed his brother at age 7. When parents aren't out working 9-5, but working around their children a lot more things would be imparted.
They wouldn't have been in school but out getting real experience in survival.
@Don White Hat off to him Sir.
The youngest son was executed as well.
A man in Guatemala was burned alive in June for being a shaman. It still happens and is sad.
@Alexandra Desirae damned if you do and damned if don't in this world. I agree.

And people sometimes say we're living in crazy times... but compared to that we're living in a pretty sane world.
Very good narration of fear inducing story. Humans are indeed capable of losing their collective when they get together and start painting the other side as the evil ones.
It sounds like the authorities, executioners, and spectators got an adrenaline rush from all the gory punishments inflicted upon this poor family.
Heh, people were monsters back then.

If this barbaric type of punishment was around I would always be armed and would die fighting not let myself get captured and tortured
Ikr i would keep weapons and kill anyone that even looked at me the wrong way
@James L I mean sometimes i wish i had been alive during a diffrent time but then I see this shit amd im like how did people survive
Well. The soldiers with military training were also Christian so. :/
Odds are you would die in your infancy!
James L take off “the church” I don’t want to hear that
Another example of human stupidity and cruelty killing is one thing but these things go beyond what any sane person should commit.
Look at all the torture and execution methods throughout history and really think to yourself- "What if they used just a fraction of that ingenuity to resolve REAL problems, how much more advanced would the world have been, sooner?"
You have an incredibly strong mind, to be able to stand researching these atrocities all the time. But it’s important to learn about the past, so it won’t be repeated in the future. Thank you for your work :)
Wow, just heartbreaking...such cruelty from such "godly" people 🙄
"Godly" people have shed so much blood throughout history . . .
@Tom Smith Your God doesn't exist.
God does exist but not in any of those who participate in what happened to that poor family. That was the devils work.

I think about my ancestors and how they had to survive. All of us come from harder people and only a few of us keep it.
Do you think it’s possible if you can do a video on The Draugr?
Man I love this channel 👍
This is gonna be great as usual thanks so much for the amazing mini documentaries.

Stand in Love, Family 💫😇💫
As a german, i wanna add something to this, the name Pappenheimer is often used like the word "Dunce" or other words in that respect. I don't know if this is due to this family particularly, or the description of their jobs, but nontheless - this is how i came to knew the name.
That has more to do with the regiment of Gottfried Heinrich zu Pappenheim who was a commander in the 30 years war and the play "Wallensteins Tod" by Friedrich Schiller . At first it was meant in a positive way and later changed into its modern meaning of "dunce".
This account sent chills throughout my body.
Somehow the most baffling thing is that there was a license to be a beggar.
This is Soooo horrendous and all because a thief said these Family Members killed!
WOW!!! This is soooo heartbreaking and Tragic!!! I am appalled at the behavior of those that are suppose to be the Higher moral Authorities!!!
Anyway, You did some Great History checking this one. Thank You for sharing this story with Us.

After seeing the trailer for AC Hexe im hoping that one of these witch trials are where it takes place. Maybe you play as Hanzel after seeing his family murdered and then you train to become an assassin and get your revenge.
"No pun intended" Dont lie to me, sir.
OMG I thought I had heard everything possible before this. I never imagined such horrific cruelty. This actually made me cry. Half of my mom's ancestors were Bavarian, which makes me about 1/4. Now I see why they came to America in the early 1600s.
@@lindakay9552 but African people hate us because we’re colonizers :( they have no idea the hell our ancestors were escaping.

Dude we weren't colonizers. We were refugees with no land to take refuge on.
Jesus fucking Christ... "Grusome" is an understatement. A very big understatement!
I definitely would've been an executioner back then; they seem to be the only ones safe from witchcraft accusations, which seems kind of ironic.
@Muttered Expletives that's cool. I'm sure they got their fare share of public rejection, but I'd rather be an executioner than accused of being a witch. I'm not sure my magic could get me out of that kind of trouble.
And lol maybe I was an executioner in a past life.
Those poor people.
If there is a hell the perpetrators of those evil acts against that impoverished family, those who condoned the actions, made up all the evil bullshit about them and those who stood by and let it happen... they are frying in hell now!!!
Damn I was hoping the lone survivor was gonna be the hero that torched the whole town...

I mean, almost nobody believes in them, and the ones that do are usually the ones trying to practice it. This world is really a disturbing place
That's crazy I knew of the family but I did not know everything in this story.
Kinda reminds me of playing bloodborne when I played for the first time it made me think that it can happen in real life too like being accused of something (at least without transformation beast & stuff)
For those who have played it, have you noticed why the church sent logarius’s men to execute the cainhurst? Because they think they’re right so they to blow up the bridge that connects between town & cainhurst castle & calling them vile creatures
(After the DLC came out) Not until then, you knew that you’re going back in timeline to know why villagers & townspeople hate you of accusing for misdeeds. After you’ve gone through, you’ll find out that the old hunters were accused of doing carnage on the villagers in the fishing hamlet village despite church are the ones who brutally massacred the village out of greed, horrible experiments, sacrificial for worshippers just to reach higher superior beings. The church are the ones real vile creatures. Logarius said “acts of kindness are not always wise & acts of evil are not always foolish, but regardless, we shall always strive to be good” i know it does make sense of what logarius said but did they just reflect on what just they did? did they really do the right thing? I don’t think so. So we’re getting it now that the church massacred the villagers while logarius’s men including himself massacred the Cainhurst people in the Cainhurst castle. What I understand is that, the Cainhurst just want to expand the hierarchy as a legacy despite they’re cursed for being a vampire
Accusing witchcraft seems the easiest way to hurt or discredit someone in that era
Finally I can watch this video
Once again…”Marginalized People being victimized “…..! OMG ! These poor people !
I also love this channel
Classic background music.
Blood sacrifices...
I can't think of a case where those accused of engaging in witchcraft were in any better position financially or otherwise for having done so.
Likewise the power that they supposedly gain is at best extremely subtle. In no case anything they have supposedly used their powers for not better explained by nature or coincidence.
To trade a few years of such limited supernatural power for a very real (in this scenario) eternity of eternal agony seems a bit of a short-sighted purchase in my book.
I germany we have a pretty common saying: "Ich kenne meine Pappenheimer" translates to: " I know who's guilty on doing or not doing things." Didn't know it came from that family though. Really interesting insights here.
It has nothing to do with them. It comes from Friedrich Schillers' play "Wallensteins Tod" and is about the regiment of Gottfried Heinrich zu Pappenheim who was an imperial commander during the 30 years war.
Crazy... i lived in Schweinfurt, Germany.
America 2050: where's your beggar license!

Bavaria ------> Barbaria?
No
You are amazing
this was absolutely barbaric. organized religion is as cold, merciless and amoral as war.
Killing 7 woman is a good reason for the authorities to knock on their door.
Have to watch this. As I had a past life reading done And I apparently was the wife who was burnt and had her breasts cut off. My ex love was the husband and my current love was our child Michel.
I now know why on earth my ex love is an atheist who keeps running from me and has spent most of his life trying to denounce all things spiritual. I now can understand why I hate cremations (always felt it was evil and thought why on earth would you burn the Body of someone you love?)
I can also understand my chest pains and breast pains and stabbing sensations and also why, since I fell for my current love Paul. I keep accidentally calling him Michael (despite having known him for many years before I fell in love with him, so I was obviously aware he was called Paul.. he was our child in that past life, Michel)
So many more things make sense. After reading the Wikipedia page about our family..
It's horrifying to learn about, but really does make a lot of my life and those in it. Make a whole tonne of sense.
LOL! Ok time for your Thorazine! 🤣🤣🤣

I've no hesitation in giving this episode a firm thumbs up. As for the actions of all; and I mean all those involved, it's a very definite thumbs down.
Living in the Pendle area of east Lancashire (UK), we unfortunately have a certain notoriety for a witch trial that took place in 1612. But even that didn't sink as low as what was going on about the same time in mainland Europe. I sure hope the God of compassion and forgiveness they acted as Earthly moral arbiters for has finds it within thy Divine self to give them another chance of life to atone for their heinous sins. For they, not the family concerned that are the truly guilty parties here.
But beyond that, the vid itself let's a reiki practicing, TCM advocate revel in the seemingly enlightened times he has been borne into...for all its failings. Happy Crimbo all!
