This is a Honkai series game, tragedy is what you can expect from any game in it's series. It's one of the things the Honkai series is known well for. You won't get a mostly happy tale like Genshin does, in any Honkai game. It's because of the fact that in Honkai games you can't expect any super happy tales from them, that gives me the feeling of attachment to the characters, and why I fell in love with the series. Unlike Genshin, being a playable character in Honkai series games doesn't mean you are protected from the story putting absolute tragedy in your life or the writers taking it away from you entirely. So far we've only had fakeout deaths in this game's story (unless you count Gallagher and Misha, where the former it's unclear if he was an actual person, and Misha was a memetic entity reflecting Mikhail) But, it's a given rule in the Honkai series, that Himeko has to die at some point. Currently Himeko in Star Rail is the only Himeko who has not died yet. And there's no ensuring Welt will be able to prevent her inevitable demise. His sole reason for going to Star Rail, was to prevent Himeko from dying because of the "Skypeople" targeting her. So yeah, expect Himeko to die at some point, it's fate in the Honkai series. Not a fakeout death, not a symbolic one, a real death.
