- For more than ten years, Danish style-master BATES has spent thousands of hours secretly building up his own private hall of fame at a sand factory in Malmö, Sweden. In this edition of Ironlak Films BATES discusses the thought-process behind the self-initiated project and shows off the collection of artwork.

bates is a fucking legend, i went to paint sydhavnen hall of fame in copenhagen like 3 years ago and there were so many bates pieces i stopped counting. i love the scandinavian graffiti and their styles, they have a unique and very powerful flavour. im not even gonna start talking about the famous crews and what theyve achieved throughout all these years. scandinavian graff has such a strong influence in writing scene. i fucking love it.

Someone actually had a place like this in my city. Dude was posted up in a camper riding dirtbikes and piecing inside an old mill. Couldn't imagine the greatness. Now its been sold and is just rotting away while housing some trucks. Sad. Wanted to post flicks but flickr is fucked. Imagine it.

still got some pics of graffiti from Malmö and Copenhagen that I took in the late 80s/early 90s while I also painted myself, and theres actually a couple of Bates among them ;).

honestly, i would be pissed if i came here and saw all these bates pieces. i want more variety, not just bates. dont get me wrong bates is fucking amazing writer, one of my favorites. but a place like this is supposed to be filled with different writers, from all over the world. different styles different techniques. but seeing just bates everywhere would upset me.
