"You don't know what freedom is because you never lost it!" With a pointed finger Manuel Martinez called out Anti-Gun Committee Leader Floyd Prozansky during heated testimony on Friday. You can bet Prozansky got the message. To quote Mr. Martinez:
"malicious individuals, masquerading as Democrats,.. established ... a dictatorial regime ... in my nation called Communism, Socialism, Stalinism, Marxism, and whatever other named -ism you want to put on it. The reason why it was done was to take away the guns from the People."
Mr. Martinez escaped the brutal Communist regime in Cuba in 1954. His testimony included how citizens under Castro were first disarmed by legislation similar to that being shepherded along by Gun-Grabber in Chief Floyd Prozanski. Defenseless, many Cuban Citizens were later summarily slaughtered.
Having been present at the testimony, I can assure you even the Liberal hacks in the press pool were visibly shaken. The expressions on the Senators faces ... well they spoke for themselves (you can see them at the end of the video). I'd wager no one in room did not feel a chill up their spine, or a tear in the corner of their eye, as Martinez described scenes of sons being torn from their mothers arms, and shot dead in the street, because they lacked the means to protect themselves. He spoke from the heart: no notes or teleprompter required.
[minor correction: Mr. Martinez wishes to clarify: he came to the US in 1962. I originally got the number 54 from the part of his testimony where he describes the revolution occurring in 1959, which was 54 years ago. He came here in 62. I grew up in Communism era and this guy is right. "You don't know what freedom is because you never lost it ". When Polish people started to strike , Police and Army was shooting them like fish in the barrel. Military boot was keeping everybody under very strict control and you could vanish at any time if there was any kind of criticism of the government. Lack of guns and private property was just the norm. No way to defend yourself against the oppressing government, Police and Army. It is easy to manipulate unarmed people as they are mere objects. All is produced, rationed and controlled by the government state. No private business and no profits. Just wait until Bernie the clown takes over the USA and the dissolution masses will taste the bitter taste of Socialism that limits basic human freedoms and liberty.

@@JM-bb8xi Agreed, it reached us who have more power than those in politics. Take back what is being stolen by getting involved in the local level Government and work up to the State Government. Don't worry about the Federal Government for when the States and the People of the States stand up to DC, those in DC won't be able to do much. The Country is too large, the population is too big for DC to properly control. They can try, but some of the States will stand up and say no to the Federal Government.

Although this speech had an impact on most people Mr, Martinez's speech had no impact on these agenda driven politicians and that's the people who will shove gun control down our throats.

One of the most passionate speeches regarding gun control and freedom I have ever heard. This needs to be played in public schools.
No matter how smart you think you are there's more to life than what's taught in school, sometimes nothing beats life experience. With that being said' we should learn to respect and listen to our elders and to the lessons they have to teach because history has a funny way of repeating itself. All the Strength in the world sometimes doesn't add up to a smallest amount of Wisdom.

So true. My Father was born in Germany and fought for the US during WWII. He was at the Battle of the Bulge. His brother fought on the German side. My Father is the one who taught me how to be a good American citizen. These are the kind of immigrants we need here. Those who really understand how truly blessed we are to be Americans.

I am finishing the quote from the title, because I think the second part is just as important as the first. I am a 29 year old veteran and a gun rights supporter. I have seen hundreds of youtube videos and news broadcasts making points for both sides of this issue. I have never in my life heard a more hard hitting and brutally true statement than this "You people don't know what freedom is, because you never lost it." Every American who has never seen war, death, tyranny, ect. and wants to take away the right of American citizens to own a firearm, needs to think long and hard about this statement. Take the time NOW to understand the significance of what this man is really saying. If some day you are actually put in the situation that this man faced, believe me you WILL understand what he means and at that point it will be too late.

It is completely disgusting that a man from Cuba had to stand up defend and state what our POLITICIANS should ALREADY BE DEFENDING and stating. Where are the laws that help deter the crime and deal with the criminals? Every gun law that is passed is pointed at the law abiding citizen, it is disgusting.

I'm a conservative and personally, I'm thankful for people like you who can see what is happening to the country for what it is. Our eyes are wide open and we can detect the gradual destruction of what made this country great. First, if the second amendment goes, how long will it take for the other amendments to be affected. Well stated. I'm proud to stand by this man as a fellow American. My grandmother was a legal immigrant to this country (as were all of my relatives at one time) and I'm proud to have that heritage. Freedom is something that we enjoy here in ways unlike almost anywhere else in the world. Interesting that this week, Russia is now considering allowing citizens to own handguns for self-defense. This from a former gun-banning nation. Freedom does amazing things.

I was born Soviet union and I can say exactly the same thing this man said. I came to United states because I had a dream to be in free country.
