Thank you so much :). I think all the twitch streaming where I was reading guitar tabs, playing, and talking to the chat at the same time really prepped me for this hahaha
@@ClainesWorld I'm sure you know this already but I've always heard the key apparently is to be able to play your guitar parts in your sleep and focus on the vocals. I can barely pat my head and rub my stomach idk how I'd manage to do a show singing and playing lmao
as a touring death metal guitarist / vocalist - tucking your chin a little and shoving your face into the mic while doing vocals to peek at your fretboard is an absolute clutch move and looks pretty hard too haha
Awesome video. Glad you had a good experience and got out there for people to see. My first experience was REALLY nerve-racking to. I was afraid I'd forget how to play my guitar. 😂
Gratz on your show. Best feeling ever. As you have clearly learned; preparation, confidence (and extra 9 volt batteries) is definitely key. The writing, rehearsal is the work. The show is the reward. For me the anxiety always kicked in like 5 minutes before stage time but once we launched into the first the song I was locked in and good to go. I didn't have to think about what I was playing. This was the result of consistent practice and show experience. The stage sound and room sound differs dramatically. Get a good sound person you can trust if you can to communicate with. New sub. Thanks for sharing your experience.
This was so cool to get an inside look at the process, the learning to sing at same time, having to write lyrics, get everything tight, confirm members etc Absolutely crazy You’re a legend
Congratulation on the 1st show 🤘🤘Keep the metal alive... Anyone who can put a band together and jam has my admiration (I couldn't make it happen for me! 🤧) Stay heavy. Stay beautiful 😁
Hi, i gigged 30 years, most time as 3 piece band, so no margin of error. After each gig, there was always one hurt in my heart that it went by so fast. I keep wishing i was in crowd to see what the fuss was about. Only camcorders, they were rare. It just went by so fast, we were so tight as three. Be Well, have great success, but treat everyone around you better than yourself, and in short time, they will be 50% of your success, just be the best you.
Claine, congrats on your first gig and all the insight you revealed of your live performance. I've been a metal fan for over 50 years and it is always so cool to see a new band come on to the scene. Nothing but respect, love, and best wishes on your career. Are you able to ship me a shirt, if so how much and what will be the payment method? Thanks again for your awesome videos.
Congratulations 🎉 Vocals and Guitar simultaneously is not easy. Looks like the show was a success. Look forward to seeing more live performance content.
Congrats on your first show! Interesting to see how it’s done now with computers and social media. My band played our first show (after being together about 6 months) on a community radio station New Year’s Eve 91/92. We recorded an 8 song demo tape in early ‘92 followed by an 8 song 7” that summer. 2nd 7” in ‘94, 3rd 7” in ‘96, then a full length LP in ‘97. The only merch we ever did was tshirts we screen printed in the basement in 1995. All our recordings were done by us in our bass player basement with the exception of the first 7” which was recorded in my cousin’s make-shift basement studio. We called it a day in March 2004.
just found your channel, very cool! congrats, funny enough i live in victoria! so i look forward to the moment i make it over there for a show or you guys eventually make it over here for a show!
So great to hear someone else's experience starting a metal band. I'm in one with my best friend of 43 years (Vesperwynd) and it's one of the most rewarding experiences of my life
Once played Bass in a Band, and still remember our first show (it was a desaster). Thanks for sharing the video, and much luck and fun for the future. Very strong.
What you said about preparing for the show reminded me of Nita's story about how she once met Steve Vai and he invited her to take part in a compilation album of female rock guitarists, "She Rocks". She had never created her own music before and she had no songs, but of course she agreed and then in an extreme hurry she composed and recorded an instrumental song "Pandemonium", which marked the beginning of her solo career and led to the creation of her debut album.
Great job dude! Glad to hear your arm held up well and that it makes you feel secure about touring, that has to be excellent news! Also liked the look with the corpsepaint, proper badass onstage...
Oh damn congrats on the show! Based on the seconds we got to hear i bet the show was crushing! Would love to see more footage! How crazy that you just learned to play and sing at the same time😅 it's the coolest thing ever! Hopefully ill see Misyrion in Stockholm one day!

Thank you for your advice, like I expected I made plenty of mistakes but nobody but me really noticed.
Congrats on your first show with your band. My band is currently preparing for our third show and there's some points in the video that I found really helpful. Like the monitor mix for example. We are definitely gonna write that down for the future.
Congrats C. As an older guy who has untold gigs under his belt know this. It gets easier. Perhaps more footage. And if you do have some already up I will go find it and ignore this entire part. What I saw so far was professional. And being a perfectionist that I am, and kind of seeing that in you over the years now, I am impressed. Hope to see more.
wow wait what? hearing your opening video onstage was awesome. reminds me of those days going to metal shows in sketchy venues. fun times. old school death metal is my jam. ;-)
Awesome! Looking forward to new music too. Btw, since I found you guys last year through 4 Levels Of Death Metal, I've started listening to The Zenith Passage, Revocation and even picked up guitar again after many years. I just go super slow and learn the evil stuff, who cares how fast and difficult it is! I'm almost ready to write some cool stuff too, I think. Thanks for the laughs, take care, hail crows!
awesome to get your feet wet to get that first Gig with the band! singing and playing is something I haven't worked at enough. background vocals is not bad though. Good luck with everything!
Holy crap... that live sound mix in the intro clip is great and so is that song!! Also, my last main gigging band, we did that with our first unofficial 'show' which was 3 "songs" that were more like riff salads & incomplete vocals we had written. The show was also impromptu since it was for a friend's house party (and he later became our 2nd guitarist). Fun times!!
It's interesting that you are telling how was your band progression, I've tryed to have a band years ago but its gone for multiple reason and surely for many mistakes done in what was the recording, the "management" and etc. By the way I hope the best for you and your band mates (I know I'm watching this video 1 year later but here, I'm glad to have found it)
Congrats on the first gig. So exciting. I remember in the 2000s playing at the Whisky Agogo in Hollywood and there was some teens there still in high school with their parents playing their first show. Good times. \m/
That was interesting to hear about your experience. Your positivity will take you where you want to be also. Good luck for the next show 🤘 I'm in NZ so can't make it unfortunately !
Congratulations on getting that first gig. They are always a great learning experience. Aside from all the money and sweat that goes in to it, getting that first show under your belt helps get those butterflies out of your stomach. Playing in front of a crowd of strangers is the best way to improve as a performer. Looking forward to hearing more from your band.
For a couple decades I played over 300+ shows a year and I did this one thing religiously before playing. I basically pinch my arms between my thumb and fingers from the elbow all the way down to the fingers as firm as you can stand it. Do both arms and pull your fingers outwards gently and it will send a flood of fresh blood to all of those areas making them very limber and ready to shred. I never did a warm up or patterns with my fingers to exhaust them before performing. I just pinched and played without a single injury. Congratulations on the success of your band and the gig!
I feel so far away, here in Québec, hope I have the chance to see you guys one day! I have been a fan of archespire since, like 2014 and it has been such a joy to get to know you and Dean a little thanks to your videos! Fucking killin it dude. Can't wait for more music and who knows, one day you might make it over to my neck of the woods so I can come see a show and add to my shirt collection
I was so nervous before my first show with my first band but felt more comfortable as the show went thanks to being able to hide behind my drum kit. I miss those days. Congrats on first show. You have an amazing teacher as a partner so you'll be a natural on stage in no time. Hope to see more live footage and maybe see your band live some day. \,,/
Thank you but also please know Dean is not my teacher lol. I've also performed on stage a fair amount already in various bands, this was just my first show with my new band :)
Great looking gig and really interesting to see the business side as well. Yous got a good price for those shirts considering how good Gildans are. Look forward to any live footage that comes, I'm sure it'll be great to look back on further down the line as yous continue on.
Awesome job! I am looking to take on vocals and playing as well. Been playing guitar for over 34 years now, but never attempted vocals at the same time. I am about 2 months in and its not really gotten any easier. Any tips?
Thanks! Honestly, I think all the twitch streaming where I was sight-reading tabs, playing guitar, reading and talking to chat simultaneously really prepped me for this role cause getting the hang of vocals/guitar wasn't as hard as I thought haha. I don't know if that's helpful at all sorry hahah
Hey Claire. I have tendonitus in both arms, Inside elbow {golfers elbow }. This is the second time i've had it and you can get rid of it. There are specific exercises that help but, the reason I'm posting is because, I've found sitting and playing makes it flare up pretty bad, when I put on a strap and stand playing it's much better, and I can play for much longer. It has something to do with the angle of your arm when playing, siting down puts the elbow at a more acute angle and puts strain on the tendons. especially when fast picking ... Just a tip that's helped for me..
Yes I stand and play whenever possible! And if I sit I find classical position much better as well. But mostly the only time I sit and play is for 4 levels of death metal with Dean and every time it ruins my back but we have to sit like that :(
Dang, you guys sound great. How that voice can come out of a human with those beautiful eyes is beyond me. Don't look back-> Forward into the future, never give up on your music. Limit the head banging or you'll end up needing a chiropractor after every gig. Trust me on that one!
Wow, Tshirts for your first show. It would be so cool to have a shirt for a bands first show, It might be a first. It sure would make you look professional. Dont forget to have fun. There is nothing more fun on the planet then Rockin out on a stage in front of people. You are now one of the Lucky Ones. Its very cool to hear your story, thanks. Also you should lock down your members, If theyre not dedicated then you can find a replacement and get back to work quicker. Lots a Luck to ya. Ill come and check you out
Thank you 🙏🥰 unfortunately we don't have an online store (print to order is brutally expensive 😩) but hopefully will have an alternative set up by my next video! 😏 Thank you for your patience 🙏
Sorry to hear about the arm, I had to quit playing a few years ago due to carpeltunel, I had surgery about 4 months ago and started playing again stick with it.
Everything you said is so relatable to me. My band got opportunity to play a show on small festival. Enthusiastic at first, but realizing we got 2 weeks to: find guitarist (I as well started singing and playing the guitar - but I couldn't do it at the same time...), finish 4 tracks and write 2 new to have at least 25 minutes of playing time. I as well made tweaks and changes to compositions to make them more gig-ready... and oh my. It was hell of a ride. My new guitarist was not sure if he would get a spare day in work for this show. We were stressed as fudge. Despite horrible soundcheck it ended up quite ok. In this time I learned so much as leader/compositor/guitarist/vocalist and so on...
Sunshine’s drip is as spicy as Connor’s drumming 🥵
"the anxiety tells me that I care" is maybe one of the greatest things I've heard in quite some time. Super true.
It should become a song title or part of lyrics

Thx for this video. Love how you completely broke down everything that goes into performing.

Great video 🎉. Lots of info and that cool vibe of yours
Thank you! :D
so sick!! congrats!!
Ill come and check you out
It warms my heart that metal musicians are like the scariest looking people out there but are pretty much all adorable softies offstage
Ayyy where can we get some merch if you still have some?! 💖🖤💖 Congrats on your first show! 😍😍😍
Thank you 🙏🥰 unfortunately we don't have an online store (print to order is brutally expensive 😩) but hopefully will have an alternative set up by my next video! 😏 Thank you for your patience 🙏
Love it Thank You.
ah cool show, I got to watch. I didn't know you were from van!
Thanks for coming, glad you enjoyed the show! 😎🤙
Damn, all that in two weeks?!?! That's so stressful haha but I'm glad it worked out for you!!
@@ClainesWorld Yeah, I had luck my wife didn't divorce me xD
Bro your stage makeup looked sick!
Stoked for you and your adventure. Can you do a video just on those documents you mentioned.
I'm going to make blanks and share. I'll keep you posted!
@@ClainesWorld stoked on it!
Congrats on the show. 🤘👍
