I am American slave decedent. I traced my ancestry and DNA. I have found that from my father I am Nigerian and mother Ghanaian. Being in this country it meant so much for me to find who I really am and where I am from. We have no African tradition here. Nothing to hold on to. I have been looking in to moving to Gambia in 5 years. I will marry in a year and plan to have a traditional Nigerian Wedding. Thank you so much for your video. I am so grateful to know that I am a dependent from West Africa! I want to know more and learn more to share with my family.
Congratulations on your soon to come marriage my dear, may yours be among the best. It will help alot if you know which tribe you belong to. There is no traditional Nigerian wedding per say , but you can have a traditional igbo, yoruba , hausa-fulani wedding etc. The wedding displayed here is a nothern nigerian wedding. Northern Nigeria is made up of 3 major tribes ( kanuri and hausa-fulani) but all are refered to as hausa due to alot of similarties and intermarriages, so the weddings are thesame also. But a yoruba or igbo wedding is drastically different. All beautiful in thier own ways ofcourse, This is what makes nigeria beautiful. I would love to know which tribe's traditional wedding you will end up choosing for you wedding.
