ppl really do gloss over all of his injuries and the injuries of teammates he’s had. that’s probably one of the biggest things that have stopped him from winning more (imo)
Can take anything Nick says seriously. Hes already written off the Sun even though the Wolves have no history of winning but has all the faith in the Lakers even though they havent beaten the Denver in 11 games and theyre literally the defending champions
You do have a point. A lot of these so-called greatest players had a lot of help. No one talks about. Magic Johnson basically played with a demigod, yet people speak as if he did everything on his own. Same goes with Kobe for those first couple of championships, if we’re being really honest. I will say, though I do feel Bird should be on that list. You may be too young to have ever seen him play, but as a Laker fan, who was a child in that era, Bird struck fear/hate in our hearts, and every time he threw the ball in the air, it seemed like it would go in!
So I’m definitely not anti bird. I just think in the modern nba I’m picking KD over him. But it’s always hard to compare different eras to be honest. Because I’m sure if Bird grew up in this era, his skill set would be even better. And yeah, I really don’t know why people want to keep acting these great players aren’t on great teams. Whether it be Jokic, Lebron, MJ, Mahomes, Brady, etc. They want to act like they win with scrubs and nobody coaches to elevate the player. It’s absurd to me. I LOVE Steph Curry. And people want to say he only has two rings since the two with KD were not fair. But like, you realize Klay is one of best shooters of all time and a hall of famer, and Draymond is a literal defensive powerhouse and offensive conductor, also a bonafide hall of famer.
I think it’s about the suns being garbage and not having a PG. They just play iso ball, that’s about it. None of their “stars” space the floor, all 3 like to operate in the mid range
Yeah it’s a poorly constructed team without a doubt. And at the point Booker has to be a consistent game breaker. He has to be that guy who you know is getting 30. Like Lebron, KD, etc all did in their prime. Yet he comes up short all the time in the playoffs.
Kevin Durant got injured 5 years ago brother. He came back stronger than ever you can argue with the Nets. No excuses. He needs to win to cement his legacy.
@@JWLSports What are you talking about. All the talk of the NBA the season he came back was that he looks like the KD of the past, maybe even better. He’s never looked better than that playoff series he had against the Bucks the year the Bucks won the chip. He averaged 34 9 and 4 those playoffs. He also had individual games in that Bucks series that year of 49pts/17reb/10assists and closed the series out with 48/9/4 and was a toe nail away from hitting the game winner in that game. Don’t tell me he wasn’t great after the injury. He’s still great now.
I didn’t say he was washed. But I don’t think you understand the wear tear of injuries overtime. With the build up scar tissue, information., arthritis, etc. By definition no one who is injured that needs surgery ever makes a true 100% recovery. Maybe 98, maybe 99. But never 100. Ask any orthopedic surgeon or physical therapist in the world.
@@JWLSports Your overall point is that hes too injured to be the best player on a championship team. My point is that he can still be that guy, therefore he has no excuse when it comes to leading the Suns to a championship. You have D Book and Bradley Beal and you’re telling me you can’t take care of business? My point is that there are no excuses for KD to not win, you’re making an excuse saying he’s too injured when he’s years removed from injury and has never aggravated that same injury to my knowledge. Scar tissue or no scar tissue, 99 percent or 98 percent of what KD used to be is Top 10 in this league. Accompanied by a D Book who is also probably a Top 15 player cmon now. you’re just as bad as Nick Wright making excuses for LeBron at this point saying his team isn’t good enough with a AD that’s been monstrous this year.
@@JWLSportsfacepalm all you want.. take away the Miami seasons and take away the Durant Golden State seasons; Steph and Lebron still have two titles a piece and Durant is sitting at zero. You’re just wrong on the topic, flat out.
Not an epic failure, but I think people will look at his career with hate because he hasn't won since Golden State, a place where people feel like KD goosed the system to sign with when he did. Add that with the fact that his career will be linked with LeBron's at the end, the LeBron fans especially will come at his neck the hardest because they feel like KD has been unfairly put in the same space as LeBron for years
@@JWLSportsmaybe so but he had the power to change things. He practically said himself those rings didn’t fill the while he had. He says that cause he knows he took the bish way
I agree completely with what you say about KD not getting the same fancy surgery as guys get these days my father is the general superintendent for a major construction company that builds hospitals in the upper Midwest (Minnesota, North and South Dakota) and I was talking about Aaron Rodger’s supposedly coming back the same season he tore his Achilles and he’s talked about New the machines that they need and they are very very new for example there is only one of those machines in the entire state and he sorta explained how huge the machine which. As a sports fan I really like that athletes are gonna be able to make a better and faster recovery but with that discussion you gotta remember we didn’t have this even back in 2019 when the KD injury happened and like there are a plethora of injuries that decades ago were career ending injuries
Every single player on that Golden State team has those finals with an asterisk. I’m sorry but that’s just how I feel about it. Those rings are pretty much worthless, that team was unbeatable. A top 3 player joined a fully formed champion that had won 73 games and was up 3-1 in the finals to go B2B. You seemed to downplay play that heavily and laughably compared it to Jordan/pippen and Kareem/magic. No what happened in GS was Barkley joining the Bulls after losing to them in the finals.
@@JWLSportsyou found it exciting? It might have been fun for Golden State fans; but shy of multiple injuries there was no one beating the team.. there’s nothing exciting about known outcomes.
What’s confusing? It’s about legacy not how good u are lmao. And injuries are part of ur legacy for better or worse. KD is a top 7 talent imo but by the time he retires he’s “only” a fringe top 20 player. Everyone in the first 2 tiers have a much better legacy and accolades (mvp, rings, fmvp, ect). In the 3rd tier he’s in Oscar and Moses have clearly superior legacy/resume. And then Jokic looks like he’s definitely passing. That’s 18 players. And between KD Giannis IT and Bob Petit there will be people who don’t choose KD out of the 2 bc he won with GSW though he’s a far superior talent than any of them. I personally have KD and Giannis as 19 and 20 but it’s debatable fs.
@@JWLSports not really. Players with the best legacies/Goat rankings tend to have top talent but that doesn’t mean it should impact it when ranking players. When it comes to GOAT rankings it should be strictly based on what u accomplish (much more than just rings btw, mvp, stats, all stats, all nbas, records, ect matter too) rather than how good ur bag or skill set is. Or else people like Kyrie McGrady and even Jamal Crawford could be argued as top 40 players of all time when it’s not even remotely the case. KD has an all time great legacy/accomplishments with an even greater all time great talent which is why being top 20 is below expectations. Like most people would agree.
@@JWLSportsand injuries have to do with legacy. Bird’s career was rife with injuries and he’s still a top tier guy because of what he did. Bill Walton might have been on Kareem and Shaq’s level.. but injuries limited him to only a handful of healthy seasons. We judge players in totality. And in totality, despite his upper end potential and talent, Durant has one mvp, two cheap rings that everyone discounts and nothing else to really argue his case. Nick’s take is entirely accurate. Jokic is already ahead of Durant in many people’s eyes, and will further be ahead if he captures another title. Giannis and Durant are neck and neck despite what you feel. And there’s definitely room to say that Durant might not wind up top 20 all time. That’s before even factoring in what future generations (Luka, Anthony Edwards, Wemby, etc) will shoot up the all time ladder and accomplish.

I'd love that too. If OKC loses in the West and KD goes there and helps them get over the hump, that would be amazing full circle for him.
