Yes exactly. They got the old school hip hop vibe in their choreo. The bounce, rock, and groove. Sorta like new jack swing type of dance.

I've noticed a lot of HYBE groups choreo is rooted in old school hiphop and bounce. BTS, TXT, SVT, &TEAM, NEWJEANS. Le Sserafim is the only exception that is more kpop-y, but even their choreo is very groovy and kinda stripped back but intense, like other HYBE groups.

The choreo (even in their other songs) fits the girls so well and you get the feeling that they are having so much fun and it is infectious. You can't help but smile the whole time. Oh, and their cute little interactions with each other makes the overall performance feel so alive. I love these girls and the people behind them. Everything they do makes them shine even brighter.

one of my main factor in their choreos is the little interactions that make them look like friends having fun dancing together.
I thought Hanni or Haering would be my bias but after watching their content I do not have a bias anymore the are all soooooooooo adorable, funny and cute in their own ways.

You seem to be in my age range so probably you know TLC, I discovered them like 10 years ago, though. That's the group NewJeans reminds me of.
When "Attention" came out, there was a lot of comments from Japanese fans about how some of the scenes from the MV as well as their look(especially when they performed at K-Con in Japan) reminded them of the Japanese girl group SPEED that was big in the 90's. Specifically for the song, "Body & Soul." I should note that the comparison was very positive, since there were some antis saying they were "copying" them. Also, SPEED themselves were influenced by TLC as well.
You should try listening to Newjeans Hanni ep 46 Lee Mujin Service, it's pretty good and won't let you down

newjeans actual concept is presenting a realistic and approachable representation of girlhood (in an unrealistic budget lol), but it’s more of a celebration of being a normal regular teen girl and it bleeds into their choreo too they want ppl to relate and feel like they can actually do the moves too bc they’re classics lol

when you check out their stuff i recommend newzips!! it's just their variety show (kinda) just doing various activities, challenges. it's super fun and they're all adorable

When I watch OMG choreography I think *NSYNC - Tearing up my Heart choreography or Diddy - Let’s get it… there’s more examples girl groups didn’t really dance like this back in the day but yes it gives the 90s 2000 vibes
