- The real reason we came to Sabah was for the orangutans. Orangutans are native to Malaysia and Indonesia, so you either need to go to the islands of Borneo or Sumatra to see them in the wild. In this video, we visit the famous Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre to get up close with this oddly human-like creatures and learn more about their rehabilitation program for orangutans. We also visit the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, right across the street, to see the world's smallest bear. With both their habitats dwindling each year, it's and incredible privilege to see these creatures in their natural habitats and gain an appreciation for the challenges they both face.

Next the kinabatangan river safari
Wow! You guys get to see the coolest things on the planet, I swear! Up close with orangutans! What could be better?
That came close to the feeling we got when making it to EBC! So unreal!!
@@kineticpassports I'll bet! I'm struggling with figuring out how my son and I will travel around Thailand after my EBC trek. He wants to rent motorcycles, but a Google search says that Thailand is #1 in motorcycle fatalities. Hmm. That doesn't fill me with a warm and fuzzy feeling. Do you have any advice on other options for that part of the world?
Ýour video remind me to tick off my checklist for this place of 5 years in "dreaming" alongside Semporna. Lovely video as usual
@@sakurasoh thank you so much!! You 💯 should make a trip to that side of Malaysia - you won’t regret it!
Welcome to sepilok
Thank you - we had the best time there!! 😊
The world's oldest orangutan sanctuary.
We didn't know it was the oldest!
@@kineticpassports it is. 1964 I think
Nice one
Thank you!! 😊
We were there 2 weeks ago and it was amazing.
Lucky you!! It’s literally one of the coolest things we’ve ever done - if not the coolest.
@@kineticpassports did you do the rainforest discovery centre?
@@samcrowe734 we didn’t - we just did the sun bear and orangutan centers. But, we did hop over to the Indonesian side of Borneo and did a jungle river cruise after (going to be the next video)
Yes sad about palm plantation
That part was heartbreaking - to think the world they can possibly live in is getting smaller and smaller.
@@kineticpassports solution is enough of palm oil plantations. Stop expansion.
