It's a shame UK rap didn't go global back when it was Roots Manuva, Foreign Beggars, Jehst, Task Force etc. UK hiphop was so underrated back then, even in the UK itself. They didn't even play it on MTV UK or mainstream UK radio. The only rap they were playing was US rap, while MTV France and mainstream radio in France were playing US rap and French rap 50/50 all through the 90s and Suprême NTM even brought out a track with Nas way back then. MTV Germany was doing the same with US and German rap but most Brits used to cringe at their own scene and say silly things like "UK accents just don't suit rap". One thing I do respect about the new wave of UK rap is that they collaborate internationally a bit more than previous generations but it would be nice if they would use those opportunities to export some different styles and tempos. The UK was always so good at variety in the past. All the MCing on not just hiphop, but also their own genres like jungle, garage, then grime. These days, everyone thinks drill is all the UK has to offer.
They play french music in the radio and TV because it's mandatory by law the is a rule that 70% of music played in radio must be in french languge that's why the music scene in france is doing okay plus a lot of french people still dosen't speak good english
@@patrykkocyba1567 I mean they were playing local rap from France, not just French language rap from other French speaking countries. UK radio plays almost 100% English language music but In the 90s and early 2000s, UK mainstream radio was only playing rap from the US and ignoring UK rap.
They found their sound and it seems to be working. Yeah but for how long? People will get sick of it. Most rappers only have one flow. Most UK rappers have the same tired flow.

In previous years, music was deeply intertwined with ‘urban’ London, resulting in a unique, fresh, and vibrant sounds. However, the current landscape of music appears to cater more to the average British person (the guy in the video) and is increasingly influenced by media companies. As a result, many songs are adopting a mainstream pop sound, rather than the authentic music from people who were brought up in heavy African/Caribbean areas in London. This trend may mirror the trajectory of hip-hop, which, while it generated more money in the long run, the genre has become so goofy and unserious because the originators got replaced by the corporations trying to feed the majority of the US

True but as an artist you’re supposed to build on that sound and expand it. You can have new song ideas without you changing the sound. Rappers now build the song the same way.
@@kayode2531 agree but that come with time, we can’t expect someone who’s been popping less than a year to switch up the style that got them there in the first place
@@zGrimFuL they don’t have to switch up their style in less than a year. They can explore their sound. For example, if you rap on jazzy drill beats. You can try different jazz instruments and compositions. You can change the structure of some of your songs. For example, do a 5 minute song instead of the viral 2 minute banger. Rap for 32 bars for a verse before the hook instead of the casual 16 bar verse. Tell a story, or a perspective. @@darrenfootball8070 Agreed, the artists are playing the game to get exposure, but in the long run, it’s a lose-lose situation. You now have to rely on hits to keep career moving and get money, however you end of diluting your sound and becoming as dry as blank sheet of paper. You don’t build the organic fan base when you’re always looking for the chart. Your music needs to polarize people and you’ll have a more dedicated fanbase who will invest in your ideas instead of trying to grab listeners. Look at Little Simz, Dave, Skepta, M1llionz, Nines. If artists really care about bread like that, run your own business or invest, just don’t sacrifice the music so you can maximize bread.
