When me and my buddies started getting into freeriding in the late 90s and early 00s, Wade was our hero. One afternoon when one of us got bootleg copies of Kranked 1-4 (because we were all students and broke as hell) we must've had those videos playing 24-7 all summer, every summer. We'd get stoked watching Wade do awesome lines, impossible trials from Ryan Leech.. they all inspired us to do crazy shit in our neck of the (urban) woods. My hero.

i was 74 and was still dropping in on the North Shore [ easier ones like Floppy Bunny etc ] but did CBC, and a few others up on Whistler [ did a lobotomized drop on 'Joyride' aaaacckkkk ! ] Loved Burnaby Mt; and and my fav was Mach Chicken between Gibsons and Sechelt [ def had some bash ups but absolutely loved it all ] BUT, had 4 strokes AFTER i stopped riding [ sold my tricked out Transition Bottle Rocket, and with no exercise to burn all the sweets and crap carbs i was eating i had 4 Minor strokes from clogged arteries - anyway, managed to heal myself with change of diet and Nutraceutical supplements - the Pharmaceuticals work quickly but are absolute crap for long term and creates more of the same and worse problems - if i could afford to i would ride now at 78 with very little issues [ i did buy an Ebike but not a DH Ebike [ yuck ] so...i can dream ] meantime, thank you Wade for the memories [ i do have a few videos somewhere on RUclips and Facebook...

Have fun but don’t take unnecessary risks. Build your skill set up slowly and attack features with confidence, there’s no shame in giving something a miss if you’re not feeling it that day. If you can’t visualise yourself doing it then just leave it until you are ready. I’m slightly younger than you but definitely found I don’t bounce as well or heal as quick as I used to! 😂

Great to see a how-to video from a long time shredder who actually understands what he's doing. can't emphasize enough about staying neutral over the bike. too many riders hang off the back and get bucked as a result and I've been calling it out for years now...

Can remember one fall night at the Cove bike shop (1990s) Wade was putting on a handle bar on a new bike I was picking up. No one else was in the shop that night so we had a good talk and he told me that a free riding film was premiering at a club that night and if possible I should go watch. He was in it and was hoping this free riding thing would take of in the bike scene.

Really helpful! I've been compressing to lift the front but not pushing it out as much, its nice to roll in slowly and lift the front rather then come if fast and count on momentum to keep the front end up, especially when the ride in isn't exactly straight, nothing quite like the terror of hang-time thats more then you expect, 1/2 a second can feel like forever when you end up going deeper then you'd planned!

Geometry really does matter. The technic is basic. Not saying what you're doing is basic or anything but, you get the point. I have a old XC geo: 69° head 73° seat angle Giant maestro suspension, what's your bike geometry or should I say what do you recommend for this type of enduro ride?

Never been a big drop off guy meaning never a fan of and as well, the "Big" drops. Riding and racing a lot of XC in my early days (90's) just now getting back into it in my late 50's HAHA never too old right?....but noticing the trails are now a little more technical and bigger drops and with my 26er full suspension bike, it's getting the shit beat out of it....looking at a C30 Element but until then, these drops won't be so intimidating and ride-able as well.Hell if I'm going off anything higher than a meter ! ....I'm older and don't bounce or heal like I used to.....But at least I know how too now Thanks !! \m/
