Thank you for such an informative video on the Master, Moebius. I never knew this book existed. This type of artbook, with its array of various types of styles should be the types of books that should be reprinted by the Moebius Library Series. I appreciate his latter day black and white quick off-the cuff scribblings and waxing philosophical with the INSIDE MOEBIUS series of books. But how about more of a focus in re-releasing classic painted large format editions of illustrations similar to this book which would be a feast for the eyes?🤤💔

Glad you enjoyed it. I would also like to see some of the old stuff reprinted and I often have this conversation with fans but there are very few publishers with the rights to the new work and none with the rights to the old stuff... After moving from California back to France in 1989, Moebius bought back the catalogue of 'Starwatcher Graphics' (his US based publisher, established in 1985, and through which he collaborated with Marvel/Epic at the time) and founded, in the early 90's, his own French based company 'Moebius Production', which still exists today.
From there on he alone owned the rights and he dispensed them. So this is why we get some of his work printed by Dark Horse in the mid 90's but again, no American publisher owned that work at this point.
The only ones who have consistently reprinted Moebius work in English are Marvel (with Silver Surfer Parable) and Humanoids.com, but that is just the work which is written by Jodorowsky (The Incal, The Eyes of the Cat, Madwoman of the Sacred Heart, Angel Claws), nothing more.
Dark Horse has been recently able to publish new work in English but only because they managed to negotiate this with the Moebius estate.
Still 'Moebius Production' does keep publishing material and their 'Petit Pantheon' series will likely cover Blueberry and other Moebius characters in the near future.

Such a ridiculously beautiful art book😍I could see myself re-reading this often. Every panel has so much to take in. Your Hergé/Franquin analog is very good. I'll be using that myself.

Yes it is a beauty, fantastic selection and print quality. For the record the Hergé/Franquin analogy was made by Moebius himself not me 😄. You have a great channel by the way!

@@moebius-chronicles If Moebius coined the analogy then we are well covered😄It makes the analogy actually even more interesting as it reveals how artist sees his own work and how he positions them against other artists work. It's not often that we get info nuggest like that.
I saw you also explaining the rights issues behind Moebius work. I didn't know these details. I have many English language Epic Blueberry albums and always wondered why isn't there a re-print. They are well made comics.
If I get to go to Angouléme again I will look for this Blueberry artbook.
Thanks for the compliment. BTW my next vid should have important role for Moebius.

@ I know I will in return watch every single video on your channel. Giraud is my absolute number one artist. I find it amazing there’s dedicated channel for his work. I’m still missing some of his ”basic” books that are easily available as there is so much other stuff to get too. Comics are like a black hole for wallets.

Does anyone know if the final 6 books that Moebius did(Mister Blueberry) published by Dargaud, are available in English? I've seen at least 4 other language versions of these and I have the French but need English versions. Thanks!✌

      - Mister Blueberry (1995)
      - Ombres sur Tombstone (1997)
      - Geronimo l'Apache (1999)
      - OK Corral (2003)
      - Dust (2005)
      - Apaches (2007)
